Why so many negative reviews?

I believe that the average potential buyer does not do their DUE diligence AHEAD of time. I first, read all the documents attached to the property I was interested in. Second, I drove by the property to check things out. Third, I went to the county recording office to see if there were any liens against them. Fourth, I ran the comps for the houses in the neighborhood and look at the rating for the schools within the district. Fifth, know what your limit is on what your final bid will be and do not bid over that amount just to win the auction. Other tips, try to get ahold of the agent that is representing the property and just ask them if they are willing to let you see the property inside, all they can say is no, right? I hope this helps. Wait, miscellaneous stuff, It is true, all auctions on this site are STRICKLY in favor of the seller... Negotiating is near to none.

NO problem completing my due diligence or even with the seller bidding against me. Not my first experience with this type of purchase. HOWEVER, I do have a problem with them taking the deposit and not returning it, saying the house was converting to HUD then relisting it on their site. They told me the seller accepted the bid and I completed everything within 24 hours. So Yes they are HORRIBLE and no the buyer isn't stupid, lazy or clueless.

They have a 92% negative review rate because they deserve each and everyone.

I put in my negative review because of the bait-and-switch with fees and them trying to put more costs on as my responsibility. There is a reason that most real estate transactions in the US go through lawyers. There are alot of moving pieces. Auction.com (in my opinion) is aware of that and takes advantage of the first-time buyer and discourages people from using professionals on their side.

My experience from 2-3 years ago. I kept bidding with counterbids... all of a sudden I stopped, there was a counterbid, and then in s couple of minutes, it rolled back! That told me some one was just egging up the price. I quit. Scamming site!

It's pretty simple. Everybody wants to get a great deal. Real Estate professionals want the same thing. The average person is a bit different. They want great deals. Do you think that the average person will do everything that they should do? The only ones who will read a 95 page sellers agreement will be a lawyer. Buyers have no rights. There is a pretty good chance that the house will need a bunch of work, possibly a lot of work.

The list goes on and on.

Some of the reviews answer this very question. Many people not only leave a negative review but also leave a detailed description of WHY their review is negative. The reason for the quantity ("so many") is because there are a lot of people who have used this website and left feeling cheated and dissatisfied with their experience. These reviews are intended to give you an idea of the chances that your own experience will also be negative. Of course, there are always the exceptions, just like on amazon; you might have 99 people buying some cheap toy from China and there will be one or two people who did not have the toy fall apart on them or electrocute their child! Same here, you have a handful of people who had a positive experience and a multitude who have had a negative one.

Hi Mike
Auction.com are not diferent from any other RE site all of them bet against you, while you may think that it is a real buyer like you. Only recently they started to mention it during the late stages of bidding.
