I was a member of Asian now for 10 years and recently banned for sending a confused emoji to a moderator.
I was banned because I would not agree to never sending a confused emoji again to a moderator as i was breaking no rules.
I tried complaining to no avail.

Creating a toxic environment, drowning out the few voices of reason. Ego driven Moderators selectively applying a myriad of forum rules to reprimand and/or ban some but not others. Lots of meaningless clickbait articles designed to rile up the community. Worst of all, you are prevented from deleting your account and personal information.

I get the impression the mods have lightened up somewhat, they were notorious for suspensions, and bans often on unreasonable, or even no grounds. Ironically the new Thaiger site where many went to escape this has even worse moderation, IMO. The Thaiger will not accept any media in Thai and claims to be an English site. Worse for locking threads without good reason and suspending posters for breaking their unreasonable rules

Click baiting fake website with so many fake accounts to push you to post and then keep your personal data that they might sell to big companies. For example they keep a list of all people who applied for vaccination and spam them with medical ads.

Threads and many participants are toxic on the Thai section of aseannow. Those who post regularly are mostly old men with fractured egos and are insensitive. You could post something innocuous and someone or a few people will flame you. And heaven forbid you make a mistake or quote something in error!

It needs to be closed down.

Signed up to check any information on the new tax changes, and have read through 200 pages of this particular thread full of information repeatedly shared over and over and no one has anymore information than they had from page 1. Seems to consist of mostly old British that have condescending attitudes towards everyone and fancy themselves as being know it alls about everything. There is one poster in particular that goes by the name Mike Lister that is old, argumentative, beligerant and hides behind the moderators to put you in time out when someone does not agree with him. Not sure why, but seems to be very important to have 100's of posts for some sort of status? Tired old fools, playing the same tired old games. Maybe the world will get lucky and this antique road show will go down permanently.

As many others have said, Asean Now is full of TDS suffering toxic posters and some extremely toxic TDS Mods. The website does have good information sometimes, but since Ubon Joe departed this world (RIP) the Forum have declined in valuable information.
George recently returned (previous Owner) and he has move out a few Mods and was changing how things ran. And then Tuesday last week the whole website crashed and has been off the air ever since - now Monday 20/11/23 and they are still down. There was supposed to be a "server upgrade" but something happened - did the Mods George sacked do something? Have they deleted all past Posts? Who knows what it was. But maybe when/if they do finally come back, there will be a Purge and the Forums will become like they were over 10 years ago when I first used them - up to date and informative with very few trolls and easy going Mods.

It used to be called Thai Visa. This site promotes a policy of click baiting and anti Thai racism. It is also ultra woke and discussions of moderation policy is forbidden. It appears to be firmly pro government establishment and you should not use a traceable IP or email address.
Their main writers are very boring old Americabs so they rely in the contributions of white, male foreigners most of whom have failed in Thailand or lost in love and now use the forum spread anti Thai bile.
It's so hypocritical because their anti Thai stance is counter to their ANTIFA/BLM/WOKE position.
They leave it to contributors to do the dirty work. Many thick Brits, barely literate Aussies, and gay conservative Americans ensure there is an unhealthy flow of controversial views with the theme of stupid, inept, corrupt Thais.

These $#*!s are $#*!s, nothing but. If there are posts that oppose their left wing echo chamber narrative they delete it and ban you under the guise of trolling. The biggest $#*!s are placeholder, ozi-moron, chomperhiggot, and a few others, there are more but they died recently from the killer vaccines.

I can only agree with other reviewers here. Aseannow (thaivisa before) was brutally censorring /banning even before it was fashion on twitter and facebook. It is a bunch of lefty/woke a$$hole libtards. If you have a different opinion than the lefty naritive on there, you are a troll, your post get deleted and often banned. I do passively use it for news and information about visa's/extentions, driver's licence, changes in Thai laws that affect me, living in Thailand. I can only hope that those libtards die out from their wonderful mRNA covid shots.

Just when you thought they couldn't get any worse they start sourcing most of their news from The Thaigher, a website notorious for plagiarizing local news sources without credit or attribution.

This comment from below says it all: When that old rogue George sold to Dan Cheeseman and 'Choice Media Asia' in 2015 some Mods were rewarded and the rest were regally SHAFTED. The word on the grapevine at that time was that 7 of his inner circle moderators were going to get between 500,000 and 700,000 baht as a goodwill 'thank you' gesture. All had to sign confidentiality deeds. 50% was to be paid upfront with the balance within 6 months. So the loyal servants of George that weren't one of the Lucky 7, were well and truly shafted by George. The lucky 7 were; Scott, Metisdead, Rimmer. UbonJoe, Charlie H, Crossy and Jai Dee so when they say they are not on a salary that's most probably true. Word on the ground is Dan offered them all some equity stake in the forum so if it was sold further on down the line they would realise a further profit. Hence they stay on board, create the innumerate spam posts and attempt to keep the ad revenue coming into a failing site. But they are not happy, that much is sure, and if another sale doesn't arise or the site goes for a song then all their loyal efforts will have been in vain. I've actually met Jai Dee in real life he is a respected travel writer and a good guy and as far as I know no one has a bad word to say about him.

Agree with other reviews that the standard of the Thailand section of aseannow has continued to worsen. The forums are seriously marred by toxic opinionated posters that include several aggressive and insulting Aussies and some abrasive and abusive Brits.

Nothing is ever done about those contributors. If you want your day or even your life spoiled, log on to aseannow!
