A Place for Mom is widely recognized for its compassionate and supportive approach in assisting families with the challenging process of finding suitable senior living options. Customers frequently commend the personalized guidance and responsiveness of the staff, which alleviates stress and fosters confidence during a difficult transition. However, some reviews indicate concerns about high-pressure sales tactics from referral partners, which can detract from the overall experience. I would recommend this service to anyone who does not know where to start
Great assistance from Juilieann. Inital contact through reference, making appointments for tours, to me deciding on a place.
Great! Very helpful and knowledgeable about the type of community we were looking for.
I went and toured 3 places and found what I was looking for in the third place.
During my search for an assisted living facility for my mother I came across A Place for Mom so gave them a call to find out what they were about. After talking at length with my consultant I was excited they would help in my search and seemed to be a great resource. What was never divulged is the minute you give them your loved ones full name and the area you are looking they put you into their large database and you are 'locked in' for two years to their company. What then happens is whatever place you decide on has to pay A Place for Mom a large commission out of their operating budget. Most folks don't know this nor do they care as it's of no cost to you, just the facility. Where this backfired on me is I later found another competing company but whom are actually local and had a much better grasp on the area facilities so I wanted to work with them but A Place for Mom locked everyone else out. A Place for Mom is located across the country but does use area consultants. You may luck out with a much better one than I had. After my lengthy conversation with my consultant about being interested in only assisted living facilities he provided with a list which included appointments for mostly 'Independent Living' facilities! I explained my mothers long term care insurance would not cover, nor is she able to live independently. Followup from this consultant was practically non existent. I was back on my own. Several weeks of no contact from him I called a Place for Mom to place a complaint. The woman I spoke with was so sorry I had that experience and said she would have a new consultant call me within a day or two at most as I stated my situation was urgent. I never received a call back or email from anyone with a Place for Mom yet they received their commission from the facility my mom is now in. If you are looking for a referral service I would recommend finding one local to your area. The one who actually helped me and explained how these services actually work is called 'All About Seniors'. The owner went out of his one late evening to contact the director of the facility my mother is now in to help facilitate an in home assessment that took place the next morning. I spent considerable time talking to them all while they knew I was locked into A Place for Mom. They did this out of the goodness of their heart, not for the commission. I hope this review helps as I know first hand how difficult and stressful this process is.
Good luck to all!
Rebecca took her time to help me with my search to find an independent living home for my mom.
They helped to find the right place for my mom based on her issues and finances.
The Presidential Places was the best for our needs. Looking forward to moving mom in
Georgia Martin did a wonderful job organizing everything with the staff at Avenida
Great experience throughout. They were with me all the way. Thank you for everything!
Gave rep at APFM our family's brief overview.
This was not my first rodeo & was initially skeptical of any efforts they could assist in finding, 'a place for Mom'!
Skepticism proved accurate.
Rep sent many more housing needs than requested, then followed by calls daily, late at night & on weekends. Rep asked pressing personal financial questions that I would never give a stranger. Rep was pushy & argumentative, always had an answer for everything which was my first flag!
Should have known that the referral housing they sent us to pays APFM for their referral services!
Better off to do my own research!
If you need help. Ask the internet general questions, ask your Drs, community organizations, government agencies... any place but this one!
Just read the BBB reviews & that should tell you everything you need to know for, 'A Place for Mom'.
A) Never EVER give out personal information about yourself or your family to any agency/housing until you have narrowed down your search, then be very guarded about what private info you DO give out. The internet is full of methods of how to protect personal information when doing a search for a parent or family member.
B) If you give out your personal number or email, just block them! Always insist on being on a DO NOT CONTACT LIST, IF BY CHANCE YOU ACCIDENTALLY GIVE OUT YOUR PHONE #.
C) There are a lot of methods to check out housing. Do an internet search, ensure you check scams, always check Better Business Bureau, YELP, as the first line of defense this info will assist initially.
D) By all means check out the internet & search housing suggestions for lawsuits of housing that you are contemplating.
Be careful, we wise, this is your loved one that is going to live there. Good luck!
Wonderful people. We found a great place.
They knew their market.
A Place for Mom is the most helpful organization I have ever dealt with for this type of situation.
Have used this service to find care for myself three times. Always great to work with.
It's nice to have a knowledgeable person help you through a difficult time. It wasn't, as stressful
Very helpful in getting someone quickly to sit with my Brother

Answer: In the Greater Louisville (Kentuckianna) metro area there are several I can recommend you consider based on our tour of recommended facilities in Southern Indiana. As residents of Southern Indiana, just across the river from Louisville, we chose Silvercrest in New Albany Indiana. They offer independent living in freestanding apartments as well as assisted living and also more complete care for those needing it. We also really liked Traditions at Hunters' Station in Sellersburg which has identical options, and Bennett House in Clarksville, which offers assisted living and additional services but does not have independent living. Some of these do have limited Medicaid beds in their nursing facilities.
