Tampa.staff was great. But the employees on train seems like they all hate their jobs. They are rude, and have no people skills. Their just not nice to people generally. It's a shame when a 7 yr old can watch the poor attitudes and disgraceful customer service towards people. Put a smile on your face and be nice, there is no need to be rude to everyone, just because you chose this direction. It's not our fault.
On a safety note. I am a safety director. Slip trips and falls. Pick up the trash on the floor instead of walking over it. Clean the bathrooms, quit spreading germs around. There is no reason for any of this. You have plenty of time. Besides all that, my granddaughter had a good time.
They were amazing. Not only is it a smooth ride there was also nice and sweet. There was a mud slide causing a huge delay. Amtrak ended up putting us in a beautiful hotel, giving a $200 voucher for next visit AND gave us soo many free meals due to the inconvenience that wasn't their fault. I do recommend using Amtrak. I definitely will again.
On Friday December 30th we made a reservation on the Amtrak website only to be canceled twice with no reason. Amtrak employees kept giving us different times to depart and then cancelled our tickets. Amtrak and its employees you f$&@ing suck.
Conductor in New London CT this morning was sarcastic when I asked a question. Intercom speakers DO NOT WORK, bunch of LOUD crackling. Absolutely no one available to ask where we are. If there's a Cafe, haven't a clue? Packed in like sardines and was hoping once we reached NYC the train would empty a bit, not the case. Truly wish I spent the extra cash to fly.
Had to cancel my trip I was charged 250.00 fee I canceled 21 days in advance
Was given no reason for the 250.00
I wanted to change my reservation to get on the train ONE stop later that reserved. 15 min later at the next stop. They said only if I paid $296 extra. I was told this on more than one phone call. Total scam.
Amtrack has the worst attitude employees in the world and these trains are never clean and 3 hours late to destination
This company is a fraud.
I booked a $509 trip back in June 2022 (with the travel protection policy making sure my tickets were refundable should I cancel).
Cancelled trip July 2022. We are going into October and I still haven't seen a dime of my money back.
They issued me a cash refundable eVoucher but refuse to give me my cash back. The representatives are all RUDE on the phone. Pretend not to hear you when the call.
They closed out my online tickets to contact them via email without addressing the issue.
Do not travel with this fraudulent company.
A friend and myself wanted to get away for a few hours without driving. We were only going 30 miles North. A few minutes from our destination we stopped and sat for nearly 30 minutes waiting for a Southbound train to pass. Instead of having 2 hours at our destination, we only had 1 1/2. If this happens every day to this train, they should tell the public up front.
This guy is horrible how does he have employment with Amtrak? He was so rude to me. I walked in the snack shop I ask for a hot chocolate. The guy said $2.50 I handed him my bank card. He responded the machine has been down since yesterday. I replied he should have a sign up saying cash only. In front of other customers Lavae started shouting at me saying that I need to go somewhere else and talk. Then he yelled at me like I was his child and told me to shut up. I'm on this train for 35 hours. WHO Carrie's cash these days nobody does. This guy had me shaking trying to walk back to my seat. I can't wait to depart this Amtrak train. I will never ride this crap again. Customer service is lower than the dirt on the ground. What makes this issue even worse. This was an over grown man so you know he knew better. Ignoramus is the name for you Lavae guy behind the counter in the kitchen on Sunday coming from Kansas City going to LA. I told you I would report you Lavae and I'm not done … I'm sick of these companies taking your money and having no people skills it's time out for this. When you know better you do better Amtrak needs to get rid of this guy asap.
The worst experience ever! 6 hours in train to NYC right now and still don't know when We get back? Very bad service. None care of passengers. Never again.
They have no return policy they keep your money fraudulent they are absolutely scanners anyone that keeps your money is a scammer there is no other options I have tried over and over no response except all we don't return if that's not a scam then what is
First, I am a disabled veteran. I boarded the Amtrak 4:20 train from San Clemente Pier to Anaheim on 6/25/2022. My brother accidentally purchased a metrolink ticket vs an Amtrak ticket. We were traveling with 9 people and heading to the Angeles Baseball game. When he was boarding, the conductor, Matt Goldman or Goodman, who was extremely unprofessional, said he could not board with that ticket. We asked if we could use the app to purchase a ticket once we were on the train and he said that we couldn't and that he wouldn't allow it.
I have purchased many tickets on the app once I boarded after, and this was the first time this ever happened. In addition, there is no mention of being able or unable to purchase a ticket once on the train anywhere online, near a kiosk. The conductor also got in my face up close as if he was trying to intimidate me. He said, "are you boarding or not?" By the way the train was 15 minutes late already.
Just don't appreciate the rude behavior of an Amtrak conductor. I have a lot of respect for railroad employees. Matt Goldman/Goodman needs to be reprimanded for his behavior. I do not deserve to be spoken to the way he did. The next time I see him and he tries this SH** again, I will not be so polite! AmtrakFail#
Took round trip from Seattle to East Glacier and had a roommette. Was filthy and got fleas from the bedding and carpeting. Toilets were broken. Would not recommend.
I went online and purchased a ticket $48.00 on their website and it offered me insurance on their website so I was charged $55.08. Within the hour I called Amtrak to cancel because I decided to make other travel plans. The female rep I spoke to assured me my money would be refunded but told me I was only getting back $48.00. She told because they have nothing to do with insurance even though it was offered on their website. I waited 5 business days and no money was refunded even though I received a confirmation email that it would be. Called today and spoke to another ride rep Chris who said we have nothing to do with your refund. Didn't care about my email. Didn't try to escalate the matter to a manager. Was plane rude. In today's economy that was a lot of money to be out of. I'm sick to my stomach that no one wants to refund my money. Run Run Ruk from this company. They are thieves. Also I tried to upload proof and their system will not except the copy of an email. Smh Scam
They do not give a single $#*! about your time or schedule. They play by their own rules and make up the timing. What should have been a roughly 24 hour trip is now easily reaching 40. All because of waiting for a staff change, or using the same route as many freight trains. Absolutely unacceptable and I will never use Amtrak to travel again.
I know where I want to go (where there is Amtrak service) and when I want to travel. But this site makes things so difficult, will NOT show their schedules. You have to go thru their screwed up scheduling system that does not work.
I waited one hour to talk to anyone about one small stupid issue in their website that wasn't allowing me to buy a ticket and the costumer representative was extremely rude to me. I was trying to tell what I actually needed and she just ended the call at my face, after waiting an hour to speak to her. I hate this company.
I have been riding Amtrak 4 to 6 times a year for several years. Most often I travel between New York Penn Station and Providence but occasionally I travel between Newark, NJ and Washington, DC. In over 20 years of riding I have had one seriously late train (over an hour). I have ridden Amtrak during snow storms when everything else was shut down. I have also used Amtrak for long trips, Newark, NJ to New Orleans and also around the country. For my regular jaunts between NYP and Providence I use Northeast Regional Service; it is important to buy your ticket in advance as the price increases as departure nears. Cars are clean with large comfortable seats. Reading lights and tray tables work as they should. Personnel are helpful although beyond collecting my ticket I have few interactions with train personnel. My one suggestion is that food be purchased in the station where there are excellent take out places and carried into the train. My Providence trip takes just under 4 hours; flying would not be faster and with TSA waiting probably longer. I am not commenting on Acela as I have never used it. But Amtrak is a wonderful resource and more people should take advantage of it.
Note: Because of coronavirus I have not traveled since early this year.
In this day and age of inelegant air travel as Alec Baldwin recently quipped... train travel is a wonderful option.
Admittedly it is not the same gracious experience as it once was; however, there are many lovely aspects to rail travel: spacious seating, watching the cityscapes and rural scenery float by, generosity in regard to luggage and many more.
Some reviewers cite the uncleanliness in bathrooms, but this is due to lack of good manners on behalf of other travelers who have poor aim and are generally slothful by nature.
I travel from Point A to Point C on a regular basis --- with a long layover at Point B, which happens to be a fabulous city. I look forward to these jaunts... and they do not cost an arm and a leg for the price of a one-way fare.
Wifi is spotty... so I read or take paperwork. I break up the time with a trip to the Cafe Car -- their fare is not bad at all.
My main concern is the usage of the Quiet Car. But once again; it is fellow travelers failing to observe normative courtesy who disturb the peace for others.
Four stars, Amtrak.
Answer: The passengers are the culprits here... not the RR.
