RUN AWAY from this website. They don't want to have an open dialog. If you write ANYTHING BUT a radical left leaning opinion you are censored immediately. Save your sanity. There is NOTHING on there that is positive & uplifting. Disgusting!
Moderators are bias toward the majority political affiliation. Very radical left leaning in the Politics section. Moderators will apply warnings and selectively remove comments or put restrictions on account functions if they do not agree with a opinion. Open prejudice against the only group that's PC to discriminate against.
I agree with everything in the post that was written about the site below. I have the same feelings and experiences on the site. I would like to add that I felt a felt a racial component directed towards my race was added to the online environment and was not addressed by them but I felt was escalated further against me. They knew and know my race.
"Unprofessional and unethical advice"

If you want any profession advice this is not the place to go. Please contact the state board of nursing and your school instructor.
30 year nurse member since origination with Brian who doxxed me over a thread he didn't agree with. What a cowardly act, However he trumped that by killing his family, then himself. The site hasn't changed much at all, maybe has gotten worse.
Pathetic is being generous.
The site has become very slow. It used to be a lot more lively and engaging. It seems like since the owner died, whoever is running the site now is squelching interesting conversations. It has always been over moderated, but I think that got worse. I think a lot of people lost interest. I certainly have found it less interesting than before.
My son is currently a nursing student, and has used this site many times in the past 3 years. He raves about it. I also work in the medical field, so I logged on and found it very helpful in so many ways, even though, I myself, am not a nurse. I have had nothing but a very positive experience while navigating through this site. I have also referred this site many times to the nurses that I work with, and have had many great comments on how helpful this site has been to them.
I am thinking about nursing but was looking for some real life discussion. Found this site and couldn't stop reading. Found so much information that is so valuable. Thank you for offering such a valuable resource,
allnurses.com is there for every nurse to find answers to REAL life REAL career questions from REAL nurses. So glad you found exactly what you were looking for at allnurses.com! Thank you for sharing your experience.
This site was my resource as I switched careers after many years working and supporting my family. I was glad to find others in my same situation and want to thank my friends on allnurses for all their help.
I'm a nursing student and LOVE the site. There are active nurses that help you along your education. They answer your questions, give you guidance, and even rant about their jobs. Real life RANTS! As somebody that wants to become a nurse this is VALUABLE!
For no reason, I was banned. I cannot think of any reason that I would be banned. I loved website until now. I did not argue with anyone, or anything in that manner. Bam, I was banned. No explanation, nothing.
Allnurses strives everyday to keep the site working for its whole community, which means sometimes actions need to be taken that seem unfavorable to an individual. In the unlikely circumstance that a ban must be done, we indicate clearly the reason. I would be happy to resolve this for you. Please let me know via private message what happened and I will follow up.
Allnurses.com is a wealth of information and has been there when I needed answers to questions by real people/nurses in my trade/field. I use it all the time.
I', sickened to think that this site for nurses was founded by a psychopath who took his whole family on vacation and them murdered them one by one, before killing himself,
Planned the whole thing and bought the gun ahead of time.
Disgusting.
This site has also never supported nurses. It will ban you for leaving a link for nurses who need help with addiction so they can get help from other nurses. Nurseboards.com is a much better option than this crazy site. Nurseboards allows you to actually create your own groups, make them private and even hidden from Google indexing. There is a group for every specialty. A much better option than this madness. IMO

The website was founded by a guy who butchered his whole family. Kids and all.
The current administration seems just as whacko.
They allow bigoted, racist, homophobic posts to stay up and instead delete/ban those who take offense to such horrible posts.

I saw this site listed on Google... I didn't think much of it but I'm glad I clicked. It's exactly what I needed. This is a great resource for students who want a career in NCLEX. You will find EVERYTHING. Rants. Knowledge. Help. Examples. Discussions. Magazine.
I wrote a post about my nurses behavior. Calling them stupid and the some nurses of this community took it as an attack on nurses everywhere
I also said on the forum i get my co-workers to wake me up if i fall asleep after closing my eyes on the nightshift and i got treated as a terrible nurse aide
Nothing but hatred on this forum do not join you will regret it
While we always welcome civil conversation and health debate regarding the issues which nurses face in their careers, everyone's perspective on behavior varies. The staff of allnurses.com strives to provide a safe and welcoming community but unfortunately with the size and scope of our website as well as how different individuals interpret posts, members will sometimes bring their strong opinions to the conversation. We always welcome members to report topics and comments which will be reviewed by our staff.
This has been going on for years and years. I lasted about 6 months and had several hundred posts and something I wrote offended one of the mods and I got an immediate ban even though I had been contributing to their site for years. Some of my posts are still up. Many of their mods no longer work because they have had disciplinary actions via their state boards and are unlicensed and continue to field questions about nursing. I think Brian (the site owner) worked for approximately 1 year. It is not a site for practicing nurses to get anything out of, it is there to make money for the owners. There are enough student nurses out there that frequent the site that don't know any better and they keep it running. I would recommend staying away for anyone that has not been there yet -- even if you go there to read, do not set up an account, do not view any ads that are linked in their site and do not post.
I've been a lurker at allnurses.com for years and finally made the jump to being a full member earlier this year. The site is simply amazing. I absolutely love the changes that were made to allnurses.com earlier this year and can say that I've never had an issue with the moderators or site staff.
There ads on the site but, come on, what website in 2019 doesn't have ads?!?
Frequent posters come and go but that is natural given the fact that these are real, working nurses who have jobs and lives. The changing faces on the site keep it fresh and bring new perspectives to the conversations.
As for people getting banned, it happens. People get put in Twitter and Facebook "jail" all the time. Deleting toxic posts on allnurses.com is a good thing because I'd rather have real conversations instead of a couple sour apples ruining an otherwise helpful and informative website.
In short, I'll keep coming back because I love the people and I love the conversations!
Just found this site. WOW! It's a great one stop shop for everything nursing. I will be using allnurses.com as a part of my daily reading.
Very good source of information. A wealth of resources are available through this site. Well laid out and easy to navigate - Check it out!
Answer: I was looking for first hand information about being a nurse, what it is like to be working as a nurse, the life of a nurse and this site had so much information, I read for hours and hours.

allnurses.com has a very culturally diverse following from all over the world. Started in the mid 1990's our audience covers the opinions of a wide group of experienced nurses and student nurses. Sorry that you did not have a positive experience. Allnurses strives to keep a positive tone to the voice of the community, however, as with any online community, you are going to get a splash of the real world in response to all comments and questions. If you are looking for opinions of nursing students, nurse educators, or experienced nurses, allnurses.com is a great resource! The state board of nursing and your school instructor are also great resources.
