“Glad I found this!”

Just found this site. WOW! It's a great one stop shop for everything nursing. I will be using allnurses.com as a part of my daily reading.

Top Critical Review

“Unfair and bias moderators”

Catherine M.

Moderators are bias toward the majority political affiliation. Very radical left leaning in the Politics section. Moderators will apply warnings and selectively remove comments or put restrictions on account functions if they do not agree with a opinion. Open prejudice against the only group that's PC to discriminate against.

My son is currently a nursing student, and has used this site many times in the past 3 years. He raves about it. I also work in the medical field, so I logged on and found it very helpful in so many ways, even though, I myself, am not a nurse. I have had nothing but a very positive experience while navigating through this site. I have also referred this site many times to the nurses that I work with, and have had many great comments on how helpful this site has been to them.

30 year nurse member since origination with Brian who doxxed me over a thread he didn't agree with. What a cowardly act, However he trumped that by killing his family, then himself. The site hasn't changed much at all, maybe has gotten worse.
Pathetic is being generous.

I agree with everything in the post that was written about the site below. I have the same feelings and experiences on the site. I would like to add that I felt a felt a racial component directed towards my race was added to the online environment and was not addressed by them but I felt was escalated further against me. They knew and know my race.

"Unprofessional and unethical advice"

Tip for consumers:
As the person Theresa R. stated in her post which I copied and pasted below, she is right. I had the same personal experience but with a racial component that I felt was added to it.

allnurses.com has a very culturally diverse following from all over the world. Started in the mid 1990's our audience covers the opinions of a wide group of experienced nurses and student nurses. Sorry that you did not have a positive experience. Allnurses strives to keep a positive tone to the voice of the community, however, as with any online community, you are going to get a splash of the real world in response to all comments and questions. I'm a nursing student and LOVE the site. There are active nurses that help you along your education. They answer your questions, give you guidance, and even rant about their jobs. Real life RANTS! As somebody that wants to become a nurse this is VALUABLE!

For no reason, I was banned. I cannot think of any reason that I would be banned. I loved website until now. I did not argue with anyone, or anything in that manner. Bam, I was banned. No explanation, nothing.

Allnurses strives everyday to keep the site working for its whole community, which means sometimes actions need to be taken that seem unfavorable to an individual. In the unlikely circumstance that a ban must be done, we indicate clearly the reason. I would be happy to resolve this for you. Please let me know via private message what happened and I will follow up.

I saw this site listed on Google... I didn't think much of it but I'm glad I clicked. It's exactly what I needed. This is a great resource for students who want a career in NCLEX. You will find EVERYTHING. Rants. Knowledge. Help. Examples. Discussions. Magazine.

I', sickened to think that this site for nurses was founded by a psychopath who took his whole family on vacation and them murdered them one by one, before killing himself,
Planned the whole thing and bought the gun ahead of time.
Disgusting.
This site has also never supported nurses. It will ban you for leaving a link for nurses who need help with addiction so they can get help from other nurses. Nurseboards.com is a much better option than this crazy site. Nurseboards allows you to actually create your own groups, make them private and even hidden from Google indexing. There is a group for every specialty. A much better option than this madness. IMO

Our entire team was shocked by the tragic events surrounding the passing of the founder of allnurses.com and his family. The mission of our website is to empower, unite and advance nurses and the nursing profession. We do allow outbound links per our terms of service...

"We allow linking to other information websites, as long as it is for informational purposes and not for self promotion advertisement. Staff members may remove or edit links at their discretion."

I'd welcome a discussion if you have indeed been banned fro allnurses.com as our site staff maintains meticulous record of moderation and banning.

I went to the site and hoped to experience a community of shared experiences. But instead, I was greeted with elitist, self-centered, snobs with closed minds. If you have a concern or a question regarding your experiences in nursing or prenursing, google is your friend, because all nurses will only further make you feel like crap. Please dont contribute to this horrible place. It will ruin you emotionally and deter you from your ambitions. It will also impact your self-esteem even more than when you first came onto the forums when you had a real concern and legitimate questions. Just go to your school's counselors, these bigots are on a fascist level. They will discriminate against your GPA, your experiences with an absolute lack of compassion.
This place is a circle jerk and if you sell your soul and kiss $#*! here, you will be fine, but if you have an actual question or need support emotionally? Good luck, it's like throwing a bloody limb into a pool of piranhas. They will rip you apart. If you honestly have questions or concerns, make an appointment with an advisor.
I warned you.

You will be called awful, not good enough, suck it up, deal with it,

The website was founded by a guy who butchered his whole family. Kids and all.
The current administration seems just as whacko.
They allow bigoted, racist, homophobic posts to stay up and instead delete/ban those who take offense to such horrible posts.

The staff of allnurses.com strives to adhere to the site's terms of service and encourage civil conversation and debate. Careful consideration is always given regarding post and/or comment moderation and in extreme cases the banning of a member.

I've been a lurker at allnurses.com for years and finally made the jump to being a full member earlier this year. The site is simply amazing. I absolutely love the changes that were made to allnurses.com earlier this year and can say that I've never had an issue with the moderators or site staff.

There ads on the site but, come on, what website in 2019 doesn't have ads?!?

Frequent posters come and go but that is natural given the fact that these are real, working nurses who have jobs and lives. The changing faces on the site keep it fresh and bring new perspectives to the conversations.

As for people getting banned, it happens. People get put in Twitter and Facebook "jail" all the time. Deleting toxic posts on allnurses.com is a good thing because I'd rather have real conversations instead of a couple sour apples ruining an otherwise helpful and informative website.

In short, I'll keep coming back because I love the people and I love the conversations!

Unlike the reviews here, I don't have any problems with the moderators of the site. From what I've seen they get rid of the trouble makers. Basically, it's a positive place and they try to keep it that way.

If you are a new-comer, read the TOS. If you break it you will be warned. Repeated abuse will get you banned. I believe that applies to all discussion sites. It's the first thing I read and it was standard stuff with specifics on what you can or cannot do.

Now, let's get straight into a review of the site...

It's monetized with ads - but so is a lot of other sites.

The mobile version is a bit slower than others.

Their search is basically powered by Google but for me it's not that robust. For some reason, I have a hard time finding anything new or specific.

It's a large site. I had a hard time finding where to post but eventually I learned. I did noticed that they will move your post to the "best place".

It's great talking to familiar 'professionals'. People who are going through the same thing you are at work.

Overall, I like it. I keep going back.

I wrote a post about my nurses behavior. Calling them stupid and the some nurses of this community took it as an attack on nurses everywhere

I also said on the forum i get my co-workers to wake me up if i fall asleep after closing my eyes on the nightshift and i got treated as a terrible nurse aide

Nothing but hatred on this forum do not join you will regret it

While we always welcome civil conversation and health debate regarding the issues which nurses face in their careers, everyone's perspective on behavior varies. The staff of allnurses.com strives to provide a safe and welcoming community but unfortunately with the size and scope of our website as well as how different individuals interpret posts, members will sometimes bring their strong opinions to the conversation. We always welcome members to report topics and comments which will be reviewed by our staff.
