Wonderfully easy, if only all shopping were so straightforward.
It is good, but I can't find an option to choose which country I'd prefer my books to come from (I'd prefer to buy as locally as possible).
Happy New Year.
It's always problematic for me when the shipping address appears as last one used.
Maybe 2024 will be the year when the default address appears as the user's address or the user has the option to select which address appears within their account settings?
Here's hoping.
Terrible experience with addresses defaulting to random choices on the list.
Sick of how the site defaults to the last used address and doesn't allow an order to be amended immediately after placing if this happens.
It's OK but not exceptional - hate that you really have to be attentive about addresses and that it won't let you change once you've ordered. Always a tense experience.
Very difficult to navigate - and past experience relating to inability to change a mistake in shipping address or cancel order within a short timeframe after placing as is possible on Amazon makes me reluctant to use the site.
I had great difficulty in logging in as an existing customer. Even when I changed the password the system indicated it was incorrect. I removed both email address and password then retyped them and then it worked!
My address label included my phone number, added to the end of United Kingdom, and I was unable to delete it. So I had to put in another email address, and re-enter everything, making sure not to include my phone number.
Consistently Alibris does not fulfill my orders. Time and time again this happens. Yet again I am here placing another order, I just hope that this time you do not find reasons not to fulfill this book order
Kind Regards
Arthur
Annoying - not a smooth process:
(a) I put a book in my basket and then had to renew my password. When I got back in, the book had vanished and I had to find it again.
(b) I was sending the book to a friend as a present, so added his shipping address, but then that appeared as my default shipping address so I had to re-add my billing address. There doesn't seem to be a facility to add a temporary / extra shipping address to send a book to someone else. Presumably next time I log in, I'll have to change his address back to mine.
I use sites like alibris to avoid Amazon - it would help if the website functioned more smoothly.
Sees to be easy to order. I can say more once the book has arrived, the packing will be very important as I want an unblemished copy.
Not so user friendly interface when needing fix codes & credit cart info
I noticed that buying a scientific books is much more difficult after Brexit. Unfortunately Britons made that choice - and i must live with it. Ten years ago purchasing books was easier. Anyway, the courtesy and professional skill of your firm and associates remain unchanged.
Pity about the shipping costs not being more flexible really.
You should not charge double postage for two books from the same Seller.
I placed a book in my cart then went to checkout to pay for it. When logging in, I found that I needed to change my password first. I got my password changed successfully but in the process, the screen containing my cart with the book I wanted to buy had disappeared. I had to wait 12 hours for the book in the cart to be released and made available for me to place in a new cart for me to finally buy it. Not a good shopping experience! I think it would be good if you could fix this glitch on your website.
I selected a copy of a book in Very Good condition and added it to my basket. I went to checkout; it said there was nothing in my basket, though there was. I went back, and that copy was gone. No explanation.
I did not like it because Alibris want to SAVE my card details online...I don't like it when websites want to save it, and usually I don't comply. Please obliterate the number when you have got the money. Thankyou.
I had to insert security code of the cc more than once...
I was noticed about the delay of the delivery at the end of the transaction! I am going away in approx two weeks and I am not sure now if I can bring the bring the book with me... I was more than half an hour to open the account, search for the book/s for in the end not to do anything with it...!
I wish Alibris showed the shipping cost from the very beginning-- a store that has a lower price but higher shipping might not end up being the best option. Also, I wish there was a way to combine shipping. It always feels like a ripoff when I have multiple shipping charges from the same seller.
Good on the whole. I had entered via BF site, and was on the page of the book. I signed up, and logged in, and although the book was recognised I had to find it on a page of listings - so had to sort out the one that I was after.
1) I tried to select paypal but it didnt work
2) you cancelled part of my order as soon as it completed and directed me to select a replacement which meant i had to pay postage again
3) you have still taken the full amount of my initial order from my bank accoubt, despite having cancelled part of my order almost immediately
4) when i typed in my address it kept deleting my house number & the second part of my postcode
Excellent! I was able to choose a copy quickly, and pay for it almost instantly - other websites make this a much more difficult operation. Thank you!
I have bought quite a few books from Alibris since I started, and I have always found them to be perfectly satisfactory. One (very small) point - why were all (and I do mean all) the copies listed of this book shown as coming from the USA?
Price higher than the one clicked on Bookfinder.com.
In address, County not emphasised as mandatory. Anyway, Greater London boroughs aren't in a county so it's unnecessary. The post town is all that is needed.
I had problems with payment. I don't like using my credit card without identification, so I have closed it for all non-identifyable purchases. It took me quite a while to figure out how to open my credit card in my internet bank. But now I know how to do it, and of course, my credit card is closed once again.
