My stupid teacher is making us use this $#*!ed $#*!ing ALEK's bull$#*!. Do I ever need to explain why it sucks $#*!?
If your teacher or school is forcing you to use this program, all I can say is sorry. You're going to have the most miserable time of your life trying to solve the BULL$#*! problems this website gives you. Honestly, this program has singlehandedly made me lose faith in today's education system. I rather do repetitive textbook problems than do one more ALEKS problem. Hell, I rather drag my balls through a mile of broken glass than do one more ALEKS problem. STAY AWAY!
This website is $#*!ing $#*!ed. Seriously $#*! this $#*!. Pile of $#*! > Aleks.
This program has only caused stress and sleepless nights, $#*! you Aleks.com.
I have never had to deal with a system SO frustrating. I don't even know where to begin. I am so happy that i am not alone when it comes to hating this system. First you're going to take my money for a stupid code to this system that literally makes me rage. I had 63 topics due and a week to do them next thing you know i worked 11 hours on it and only got half done. I thought homework was supposed to be easy points towards your grade but with ALEKS forget that. Even if you finish all the topics each one you get wrong takes off points for accuracy and then makes you do 3 more problems on top of what you had to do already. So its time consuming AND screwing with your grade at the same time. Also as others said, the system is very picky about your answer. If its not EXACTLY how they want it you'll get marked wrong. Also the explanations don't help at all so you'll end up wasting more time trying to understand what they want from you. It sucks because i spend all this time trying to get the HW done that i'm just mindlessly typing in the answers not really understanding what i'm doing because i have no time for that. Then all of the quizzes and tests are through this same dumb program so good luck doing well on those. I do not understand why ALEKS hasn't made any effort to change their program when its obvious tons of people are not benefiting from it. It has a good concept but is in desperate need of A LOT of changes. I've never struggled in a math but ALEKS somehow made me feel like my whole life has been a lie. If you know a course that uses this system RUN WHILE YOU CAN and if you can''t run just be ready to have no life and become mentally insane.
ALEKS has to be the worst online program ever. It won't let you pass a section without getting three in a row correct. However, if you get two correct and make a mistake it takes you back one. You can go back and forth and have done 20+ problems before you get 3 in a row.
It's supposed to use some AI algorithm that helps you learn, instead it just gives you anxiety. Unlike a human, it cannot recognize how you are doing a problem wrong or guide you on how to do better. It just tells you you're wrong and sends you to their explanation page which may or may not have complete information. I end up googling a lot of information and watching YouTube videos to explain problems. Which makes me wonder why I paid money for this? Only because my school forced me to. I had to buy a text book and an ALEKS code and pay tuition, but I'm really just self teaching myself. I suppose that would be okay if I signed up for an online class. But I signed up for a regular class that forces you to do online stuff. Why didn't I just do the online version if I was going to be forced to do an online version anyway? Now going to class has become the inconvenience.
This seems to be the trend with higher education, which is sad. The idea is good, but the execution is terrible. Maybe someday they can get skilled programmers to further the development of the software so it will accomplish what it is supposed to do. But for now and the indefinite future, ALEKS will remain trash.
The topics are bullcrap. If you miss one problem you have to start all over in the topic you're working on. It's the worst thing ever. If you have 40 topics in a section that's over 100 problems. IF you get them all right the first time. If not you have over 200 problems. WASTE OF TIME FOR WORKING EVERYONE. Especially with people with kids, or jobs, OR BOTH. Wish I could give it no stars, or a tiny bit of one.
I don't know what cruel person decided this program was a good idea. I spend more time on this program than i do doing anything else. Aleks can take their 38 topics that take 8 hours to complete and shove it up their $#*!. Every time i log in i wanna choke. 10/10 would rather die than use this.
You are thrown into knowledge tests. You aren't given a reason for what you got wrong when you take a knowledge test. Then you must compete them in 24 hours, and you get thrown into questions you already had and it is so time consuming. TIME CONSUMING.! If you have a life, such as work or friends, even one friend, or even if you know just one person you cannot engage in any other life events becuase you spend so much time on this horrible program. When your teacher tells you to commit one hour a night to compete assignments, that teacher really means 5 hours. Then when you complete a topic you get an elementary response to how great you did. So as an adult when you get hot hair balloons, corn on the cob, stars, rockets, etc saying Great job! You want to scream. Who the hell puts that on a program that is shared with children and adults.
Then after you complete a topic you get the same damn topic out of nowhere taking up more time that you would rather spend cleaning out a littler box, or picking up dog poop, from a dog that isn't even yours.
When you complete a topic in Aleks it then sends you a childish message about how great you did. For anyone under the age of 12, I suppose that's ok. For an adult I feel like I should be eating fruit snacks and drinking Capri Suns while completing a topic. Just short of getting glitter and stickers from your teacher.
This site needs to be updated for adults that need to use this method for college.
Okay, I had to do this program over the summer for the school I was going to. The main problem with this site is the lack of explanation. I had to do around 134 topics over the summer. Which isn't much but without proper explanation on how to do the problem it becomes very difficult. I have heard of a glitch where it will get correct answers wrong but I had not had that problem at all during my time on it. The knowledge checks do not help at all. They are just a nuisance as they will,
1. Waste your time when you could be learning other topics.
2. Punish you by making you relearn the topic thus wasting more time on learning other topics.
Making a mistake should not be a large punishment as that. I can see how the knowledge check could work as it is a review of the topics you learned. If I would improve the site I would make the explanations a lot more simpler. Explain the topic carefully. For the knowledge check, it is frustrating but I can get how it's supposed to work. Aleks could help other students but is definitely not the site for me or others.
The explanations are not very detailed, makes it impossible to understand.
Thus, the overall hud isn't easy to use at all. All the useful buttons are far away, and there isn't any hotkeys to use them more easily. Most of all, the questions are inaccurate, which results in wrong corrections. Just... complete $#*!.
Im taking geometry voluntarily over the summer before 10th grade, and it is actually the worst thing in the entire world. I end up spending up to 8 hours a day trying to complete the weekly mastery goal. The way they try to teach you and explain to you is actually useless. The most annoying things is that i type in the answer and it says im wrong but when i check it, its the exact same thing i type in. Also, the knowledge checks are actually hell. I end up spending hours trying to finish like ten or fifteen lessons, only to have the knowledge check and spending another five hours recouping the ones i missed. Also, i had to complete 412 topics in just about a month, Around 80-100 topics a week. Completely literally impossible. I would not suggest using aleks at all It will make you so frustrated and confused. I hate aleks more than anything.
$#*! ALEKS and everything it stands for! $#*! whoever created ALEKS! How high do you have to get to create a system that completely $#*!s over kids. This program alone will make a lot of kids fail 9th grade. Not even molesters like torturing minors this much! Whoever made this $#*!ed up program can go skin themself with a nail clipper.
This is some messed up stuff the website is hypocritical. For example if you type in the right answer it will say it is wrong then you go to the explanation because you can not figure out why it is wrong, and the website gives you the exact answer you typed in. I would like to go kill the creator of the website he is probably sitting in his fancy house because of all of the people he scammed into buying this website. By saying this will help your students well that is a load of bull crap. You should go kill this cult person before he finds another way to torture children.
Dear Creator,

What was supposed to be 80 hours turned into 120 to complete the 410 algebra topics needed to finish the class. I took this class so I could skip Algebra 1 in high school. I would not recommend this site for anyone. The explanations are insufficient and unhelpful. Also, the program assesses you way too often along the way, setting you back and adding a lot of stress. I wasted too much of my summer on this program.
It makes you do assessments that put you back. These assessments aren't helpful, just extremely frustrating and time consuming. This program has the worst explanation so I basically have to teach myself by using other online sources. This is the worst math program I've ever used.
First of all, it is nearly impossible to finish this class. Between the knowledge checks and the insane amounts of work one will have extreme difficulty advancing in this class. The knowledge checks cause nothing but issues. All it does is set you back and hinders your progress in the class. Next, there is so much work that if you don't have 2+ hours every day to spend on ALEKS you will not finish. The explanations they give you on how to solve problems are vague and useless. Want to review for an exam? Good Luck! The review is just as useless as the explanations. I have spent countless hours on ALEKS, and it pains me to to say that I have many more hours ahead of me.
Im doing this right now as a prep for algebra for high school. I swear, my desk has more dents in it than my parents car after they drive through chicago. My hand is broken because i have banged my hand on the desk after TYPING IN THE CORRECT ANSWER AND IT SAYS I GOT IT WRONG! Dont use it lol
It's pissing me off i keeps saying i got the answer wrong when i put the right answer in! And the worst thing is... well basically everything on the website is $#*!ing horrible i wish that it was never made because it $#*!ing sucksand i
Answer: Because the ALEKS program is literal hell and we people are just showing our hatred for it
Answer: Most likely.
Answer: Yes deal with it
Answer: Because people want to commit suicide in an original way, and ALEKS is the best way.
Answer: I don't think so but believe me a class action suit would be an improvement
Answer: I paid over $150 for this sumbi**h, I expect it to work
Answer: No i do not think the website owner has issued one but I think the feelings for aleks would be "down the toilet"
Answer: I realize this reply is very late but in case for anyone who needs it: -Let's say you're learning how to use long division. They have 3 questions in it. You master the first one, then go on to the next one. You get the second one wrong, guess what? They punish you and take back your first answer so now you have to answer it again. -How fun! And don't forget the useless knowledge checks!
