I have had an extremely upsetting and disappointing experience shipping my car with Alaska Car Transport. I worked diligently to select shipping dates that worked with my own move timeline, and bent over backwards to deliver my car to the port during the narrow windows of business hours (work hours for me too!) that they allowed. Then, without my knowledge or consent, my car was shipped a whole week early, throwing off the entire timeline and putting me at insurance risk as the car is now out of the state where it's insured before my new insurance kicks in. Furthermore, I am now being assessed storage fees for having the car at Alaska Car Transport's facility, which is exactly what I planned so carefully to avoid. To add insult to injury, the initial person who helped me, Zack Zangle, has completely ghosted me, and the person who I was passed off to, Lana Ramis, has been extremely inflexible and insensitive; my questions have not been answered (why was my car shipped early? Why am I being charged for storage on a timeline that I never consented to?) and the responses have put me in tears with every email exchange. I am upset beyond words. This company has treated me -- a customer who paid them thousands of dollars and entrusted them with my brand new car -- like absolute trash. I am terrified to see the condition of my car tomorrow when I pick it up... which I can't do until I pay them more money for storage, of course. I am SO upset. I will never ever use Alaska Car Transport for anything again and I will warn others.
Everything went off without a hitch. Pickup hours in Seattle not convenient but worked it out. Several people wanted to drive it Outside and too risky. Price very reasonable and excellent communication with staff.
Very smooth transaction, no complications, except for the survey, which required unnecessary verbiage!
Great company, with an easy process, good rates, and everything went smoothly. Would use them again.
Three things you can count on with this company. (1) Your vehicle will be transported as scheduled. (2) Your contractually agreed upon price will increase by 10%. (3) Communicating is impossible unless initiated by the company.
Called to get rate quote to ship enclosed trailer; was told they are only shipping cars and the customer support representative hung up on me. Very rude and unprofessional. I have no issue with them being unable to support my request, but do so in a professional manner.
To spare you the long tale here are the highlights…
- Estimator tool works to the nearest state capital so 10+% up charge to actual location.
- If you ask for a Monday morning pickup they will show up Saturday Night without a phone call or any indication of a realistic time via email.
- Your vehicle will be transported to Seattle via the cheapest transit so in my case my car was peppered with sand and gravel inside and out making it hard to identify damage.
- At the port there is a large stack of papers with the contact information to submit a claim for Alaska Car Transport and there are no other stacks for other companies... maybe a coincidence, but I think otherwise.
- A claim needs to be filed within 10 days and have 2 professional repair estimates so don't pick up your car around the holidays like me unless you preemptively scheduled appointments while you car was in transit.
So if you hate money and your car this is the company for you.
Gave me the impression they would have my car to its destination in 3 weeks. It hadn't moved an inch in that time. They are virtually impossible to contact. Unless you absolutely have no choice, I suggest another carrier. ANY other carrier. Worst experience of my life.
I purchased my transport about a month before the pickup date. There was zero communication between myself the company or the driver until less than 24 hours before pickup. If I called there was a 3-4 hour hold time and the customer service would often hang up on me. Also my vehicle showed up almost 3 weeks late and was in TERRIBLE condition. I ended up having to sell my car and never got a call from Alaska Car Transport telling me my vehicle arrived.
This is my second time shipping with Alaska Car Transport. The first time was great and I didn't have any problems. This time a $250 yeti cooler was stolen from my vehicle. Items inside the vehicle are not covered by insurance and obviously no one will take responsibility. So I'm out a cooler. At least my car came in good condition.
Shipping my Camaro was estimated to be 2-3 weeks. I am a month past the estimated delivery and can't get a strait answer when my car will get here. Over 4K for a service that hasn't come close to what they advertise. Called 2 weeks ago for an update and they "were working it" and would call me in a week. Called today and the supervisor was "on the phone with the carrier" and they will let me know when there is an update. Wish I would have picked another company. At this rate it would be cheaper and faster to fly in, rent a U-Haul with a car carrier and drive it home.
The star was only because 0 stars wasn't an option.
Don't waste your money with this company.
Attempted to ship a car with Alaska Car Transport in early April. After dropping my car off on April 14th (when we scheduled), the car was transported from Fairbanks to Anchorage on the 18th where it sat, forgotten about, until I made a facebook post calling them out on April 28th, the date that it was supposed to be delivered to Washington. Immediately after I made the post, a friend went to the port to check on where it is and found them push starting my car (After they killed a brand new battery). The shipping personnel drove my car to the inspection facility and around the port, all captured on video, then contacted me stating that my vehicle was non-running and inoperable, stating that they would not ship the car without an additional $1400 fee for the vehicle not running. I will update this review as updates come, but as of right now they are refusing to ship my vehicle and are holding it, as well as the money I initially paid, hostage until I pay this ridiculous extra charge.
I used Alaska Car Transport twice in the past and had great service but this last time was just ok. The driver picking up my vehicle did not show up on time so I had to reschedule all of my other moving plans. I was told I would be updated if any changes but I had to reach out to find out what happened. I didn't get a response until after the driver came and got my vehicle but the lady didn't have the status update on my vehicle when she reached out initially. Since my vehicle was late being picked up I had to pay extra money to rearrange my travel plans. I've called several times but the wait times are so long these days it's hard to get someone on the phone. I cant be on hold for a half hour while I'm working. I've sent a couple emails requesting some sort of compensation and have gotten no responses back. They were quick to take my money but can't be bothered to reply to emails. I need to move a vehicle next year and I promise you I will not be using Alaska Car Transport. They charge entirely too much money to receive subpar customer service.
Absolutely horrible company to try and work with. Took me a week to get someone on the phone; they keep you in a phone loop, have a receptionist pick up once out of every 5 or 6 phone calls, and only after the receptionist sends a message to the booking manager does someone call you. Then, after a week of trying, someone calls, gives their name, says they can't help, then hangs up you. That's it. I call back to speak with a manager about the experience and the receptionist won't let me.
Absolutely disgusting. I have worked in customer service before and understand policies cannot be controlled by the employees. Their behavior was their choice though and they treated me horribly.
Everything went very smoothly with the vehicle arriving earlier than scheduled. The only change I would have you make would be an addition to the instructions. We did a test run to the port the week end before our drop off date to make sure we could find it etc. There were two signs at the entrance. One said vehicles being shipped and the other visitor's parking. I called to verify which lot my wife would go to since she was following me in our vehicle to pick me up after the drop off. I was told she should follow me into the shipping lanes. It would have been easier if the instructions had said that up front.
This was a great experience. You have transported both out kids car to college and we have been very happy!
By the way, I think you should start informing that the tank needs to be under 1/4 from the first conversation. That ended up being tricky for us with a car that has awesome gas mileage.
The time frame was great, everyone I was in contact with were pleasant and informative. I did have a couple of small car rubs, at pickup and I thought they were dirt spots until washing my car and trying to remove them. I will get them fixed when I get my oil changed. Overall, I would use Alaska car transport again. Except for the car rubs, everything was excellent, thanks!
My car and belongings were shipped from Anchorage to Colorado Springs in a timely manner. The booking process was easy and I was contacted along the way to let me know my car was on schedule. The quote was exact and priced reasonably. Our car arrived a day early in perfect condition. We will definitely use Alaska Car Transport again.
I found the initial contact, information and booking process to be very easy and efficient. It was a simple matter to bring my vehicle to the Port of Anchorage for shipping. It arrived in Vermont within the time estimated, and the crew off-loading the vehicle was quick and careful. I had an all-around pleasant and easy experience with Alaska Car Transport.
The people were very helpful from the time I placed my original order, through dropping it off, and even changing the delivery destination after it was in transit. The whole process went very smoothly and my truck arrived safely.
Answer: Less expensive? Not really they are all very close. You may get a lower quote, but as in my case, they will add on charges. The honest operators will quote you the final price upfront. The less honest will add on charges like service charges, document prep fees, unloading fees and such. One would think that these would all be included in the quoted price, but the less honest companies wait until they have you vehicle and then force you to pay the extra charges.
Answer: I was very very stupid and did not review their complaint list. There are honest shippers out there, but you have to review all complaints to find them.
Answer: Very difficult. I spent more than 28 minutes on hold when trying to contact them.
