Schedule an reservations with Airbnb with a Super-host! Arrived to Unit and a Eviction notice is stuck to the door, threaten for the police to come kick me out! Guys standing outside the building, Key left under Mat! I called and expressed my safety concerns the rep shows not concern! Told me she will have someone call me back, 2 hours later no call back no refund no nothing! This is so upsetting! I don't know where I am and not safe at all.
Surprising that airbnb allows hosts to change the price from the time you see it on map, till the time you book it. Also take a screenshot of price after you put in your dates. They wrote i would get a discount for staying 7 days, then upon booking it, price changed, it went up 9.57 a night.
I told them it's bait and switch. They did not care. So document, document with a pic.
So many impositions and they have only brought us two bookings in three years! Like google, I don't even think they have a customer service department. Either bots or volunteer hosts answer any inquiries.
Like uber, it blows my mind how a business model based on other people's properties can make these people wealthy beyond recognition.
If you are booking, go directly through the property owners, save money, be respectful and aware of karma.
Evidently Airbnb hosts can cancel reservations as their whim, even though they take all of the payment up front. Customer service is non existent.
Be careful if you want to have a place to stay when you are travelling
2020 Jan. I'm using Airbnb for years, but I realised that they getting so full with crap, their business model start showing signs of racketeering. It's NOT what it used to be! They keep jacking up prices by the day, so if you thought of a reservation and saved it to get some answers from the host... all the sudden next day the price is higher. Then the price shown in CAD (as my selection) all the sudden changing in USD when I click the reserve button, meaning that they ripping me off with the exchange rate and making me to pay 2.5 % more on my credit card. Service fee is getting crazy, same as certain city's all kinds of mambo jumbo taxes...
I discovered landlords working the US system, taking advantage, changed conditions, check-in at impossible hours, claiming the money, flaring up over ageism, refusing to deny access and lodging, taking money for a ride. The system's computerized causing disregard. Check in before 12:30 or after 22:00 hours? Go away.
I went on Air BNB and looked for a place to rent in Wildwood Crest. I found a decent price for a place but was discouraged because there was a 175 dollar cleaning fee. That is just insane. I don't know how they manage to find people to pay for something like that. No thank you!
If you are a host, then I can tell you that this is a great source of income and now is the time to take advantage of the platform. I have been able to multiply my capital X4 within 6 months of starting.
This place is a nightmare they don't answer you can't get anyone on the phone repeatedly getting messages that my case has been transferred to proper management but still no resolution to my claim and it's been 7 weeks no can help me and my host clearly violated numerous airbnb policies and nothing from airbnb yet.
Place is not as described. Complete lie. Definitely not safe and secure as listed. Bio hazard materials, construction during the night and loud music during.
The host shared there is no parking thus requested a refund but he refused and Airbnb wasted my time that night
Airbnb my foot I will never book a place with them, instead go to a lodging or some small time hotel, these people are crazy I could be killed and they were happy with that.
I was awake the whole night guarding myself from attack.
Host needed to repair last minute problems, instead decided to cancel. Airbnb did not help find a new place for the desired dates or location.
We were informed less than 24 hours prior to booking about the cancellation and Airbnb support tried to be funny and ask me out for dinner.
I'm lucky because friends of mine managed to find us a place to stay. What if I was someone with no friends in the area and had to head back? If I was flying from somewhere far and didn't get the email, what would I do? How do you book a new flight with a $50 coupon for Airbnb? I don't even know if you can pay for a night on Airbnb with $50, after all the fees...
Airbnb would not provide a refund when I called and explained that the country I will be visiting is mandating everyone to be vaccinated 2 weeks before my trip which was too late for me to get vaccinated in time. They kept quoting their policy placed in March 2020. While its 2021 and mandating and vaccination laws are changing everyday. Also the host refused to cancel the booking that could have also provided me with a refund.
Absolutely the worst experience ever! Customer Service NO help at all. Safety is of no concern from Airbnb! Even if you feel unsafe at the property, oh well…., you are SOL! $2666 for one night stay out of 11 days and not willing to refund any part of what I paid! I will never use Airbnb again!
The Hideaway Inglewood CA -NEVER STAY HERE! Unsafe neighborhood, garage full of crap you can't even park in it. Try to Park in the drive way and you are one inch away from the neighbors car!
My husband and I both felt unsafe at this location, the neighborhood is ghetto, dirty, and scary! We didn't feel comfortable with parking outside as the garage that was promised in the listing was full of crap which made it impossible for any car to park in there. We contacted the host immediately and of course first response is about no refunds.
Your view as you step out the house, pictured below.
Don't be another victim of scam artist. Airbnb knows that some countries do not allow travellers to stay in a private house. They will not protect you when police walks into your room and arrest you for breaching foreign law that you did not know about. All i did was booking my accommodation via Airbnb when i stayed in Bangkok and i found out that I broke the law. Who would think that simply leasing someone else's house can be breaching Thailand law? Please rethink when you book via Airbnb and don't jeopardise your precious holidays. Don't make same mistake that i did.
I booked Airbnb 3 months prior to Thanksgiving. I paid their deposit. A few days later the man hosting our Thanksgiving dinner in Milwaukee Oregon was diagnosed with lung cancer. He needed surgery and chemotherapy. Thanksgiving was cancelled at his home. I contacted Airbnb with proof of his serious illness and was told no refund would be given by Renee nor Airbnb.
I have never in my life experienced a worse customer experience. Not only was I tossed around an automated system multiple times before I could finally talk to someone, when I finally talked to someone they hardly spoke english and did not help me with my reservation at all. They would not solve my problem for me and honestly I will never book through air bnb again but only directly to the hosts. Steer clear if possible.
The first and last time I will use Airbnb The place I booked was a dump with a dirty mattress and furniture outside. Big broken dumpster 30' from front door. And surrounding units were broken down. Would not allow my dog to stay there yet alone mmm family for a vacation. I spoke with Airbnb and showed them pictures and did not help me if one bit.
The reason I really love Airbnb is because of the empowerment they provide to their guests'. Where else can you find an organization that lets you visit a stranger's home, steel and damage their stuff and abuse the hosts with impunity without having to worry about any consequences.? They've achieved a level of standards that truly depicts how much man has evolved. The only bad thing about Airbnb really is that they don't seem to support allowing GUESTS' to be physically abusive and violent to the HOSTS'. That would be icing on the cake. But I suspect that it probably has something to do with stupid laws and human rights and stuff. But hey, nobody's perfect.
I came to an apartment that was super dirty, smoking smell, and some things are broken.
No toilet paper, no towels, nothing.
The bed was very dirty as well and the host didn't answer.
It took Airbnb lots of time to respond and eventually after several days, they offered us 30% off from the first day which is about 15$. They told us that this is the maximum they are allowed to do.
It is ridiculous that this is what they can do in such a horrible case.
They don't reply to my messages, and I say to them, "Please someone from your team contacted me, but no one contacts me, and every time they message me, we will try to solve your problem as soon as possible. This problem has been there since Tuesday and until now, they have not found A solution for me.They sent apartments that are very far from the location of the apartment.which I booked and they want me to book one of the far apartments.I am asking for an apartment at the same address and I will put all the pictures of the conversation that prove my words.
Answer: AirBnB is the worst. You might be able to go to the resolution centre, but previous posts are correct. Watch your money with them. Once they make an error it's hard to get it back. You may have to go through the credit card you charged it to and even then the dispute process might take awhile. Hopefully, you have other money to use in the mean time or the date of your trip is at least weeks out? They are asking you to "verify your ID" so they can gain access to your linked in, Facebook and google contacts. They say it's a security measure to protect you and everyone else but it's not. They are pirating your info. They take your contacts and use it as a marketing tool for themselves or sell the contacts to other distributors. It's very common with sites like this now. If you want to continue using AirBnB you have no choice unfortunately.
Answer: Being a host, I can say that when things are going good, all is great, but if something goes wrong, as a host, you will not get the support from Airbnb that is promised. They do not stand behind their hosts, I find they like to a facade that all is great in the land of Airbnb. I have cancelled my listing and will not deal with them anymore in the future.
Answer: As a host & licensed realtor with multiple properties in both Los Angeles & Las Vegas which I book directly and also have listed with multiple vacation rental agencies, SAVE YOURSELF TIME, MONEY & AGGRAVATION by booking either DIRECTLY with the host or through other REPUTABLE Agencies, such as Roomorama.
Answer: I haven't been a host, but would certainly recommend that you read ALL the reviews here before getting involved with Airbnb. I can't think of ANY business of ANY type I would patronize that got a 1.5 star rating after 382 reviews.
Answer: They offered $25 discount of next booking I just chose to go else where
Answer: You don't. The only thing that you can be sure of is that if you have a problem Airbnb will be unreachable. They hide from dissatisfied customers and hosts alike. You are taking big chances when you deal with them. The benefits just aren't worth the risks.
Answer: No, you would be lucky and have to fight to get a refund if you cancel 1 day after you make the reservation!
Answer: Hello, First, the credit card co. Needs to be notified and will refund the amount spent. In turn, the cc co. Will backcharge. Airbnb is notorious for these types transactions and should be shutdown. Your son has learned a business lesson... research a business prior to do business!
Answer: This is the root of my problem with AIRBNB. They do not check to see if a host can legitimately rent the place they are advertising. In my experience, the host cancelled 48 hours before, claimed she was going to be evicted if she rented to me. I was only 3000 miles from home. AIRBNB offered me a 10% discount to rebook another place. I did not and will not use them again.
Answer: Susan's answer is very thorough and I agree with her. Even more important when booking places outside your country of origin to ensure you don't get a flea pit. Also, always look at the reviews, they are very important. If there is a really bad review, don't stay there. You need to check the locations online as well. You don't want to be in a bad, dangerous area... this just happened to someone staying in Philadelphia. If you have a problem, the AirBnB website is useless. Google the AirBnB customer service number from your location. Renee
