They even do not deserve a star. This insurance company is nothing to but rip you off. They are nothing but punch of crooks. They are useless and do not use them.

Uses vague words in the contract "modification" to get out of paying for repairs. For my AC UNIT, that is covered per the contract, I was asked to cover $3800 of the repair because they were deemed "modifications" required to do the repair: These modifications included $422 for a labor and evaporative.

Please do not use these crooks

Disappointing - No stars
September 1, 2022

I was a member of AHS for over 3 years and was very satisfied with the company until my contract renewed in year number 3. They more than doubled my price going from about $48 a month to $100 per month. Amazon Home Warranty contacted me and they are about half the price and have a larger network of subcontractors. I moved to them. I tried to cancel my service with AHS and could not get through before the end of the month. Today they charged my September payment and when I cancelled charged me an administrative cancellation fee in the same amount. This is why I will never return to them and why I will not refer them to anyone. Very disappointing. I am sure the cancellation fee was in my agreement but they never verbally mentioned it to me.

I have been enrolled in the Platinum plan for 2 years now. Went to schedule an HVAC tune-up as one is included annually in my plan. Was told that this is only available during promotional periods and that the period is ended. Have been given different dates on when it ends, 5/17 on the phone and 5/7 via social media.

When I asked where these dates are posted, I was told they are only shared via promotional emails at the beginning and end of the periods, which I was never told when signing up and have not received, despite the fact that I receive marketing emails and newsletters. No one can tell me WHY I didn't receive these emails to make sure I get them in the future, but everyone has told me to watch for them in the fall when the fall promotion begins.

Additionally, my renewal contract came in. Despite only one service call in the last two years, my monthly price is increasing by almost 25% AND my service fee is increasing $25 per request.

Custmer service
May 3, 2021

I had an attic fan that was not working. I called these guys stated they were going to fix it. Took $100 from me under two contracts. Never got it fixed. Refuse to refund the money. On top of that they automatically renewed the contract with out my permission. When I asked for a refund on that they refused also. When I requested to speak to a manager I was told Managed will not speak to any customers. The customer service sucks.

I made a service request on August 10 today is September 18. I had a technician come on September 1, look at the electrical issues and say they to get the invoice approved. I look on the portal and it says my service has been completed even thought no work was ever done. I call AHS and ask if I can get a different technician and the response from AHS is their protocol is wait for the technician. It is almost winter and I cannot get my issue

Scammers
November 10, 2022

In August 2022, I contacted AHS to request information about getting home coverage insurance. We never received a contract to sign nor gave any indication we had chosen a plan. Not only did they start taking money out of my bank account, but they also set up TWO contracts and took out double the money every month. Now they refuse to cancel and refund three months' worth of taking money out for TWO contracts we never signed.

A few weeks ago our 9 year old hot water heater's electrical panel caught fire. American Home Shield Warranty is falsifying the claim submitted by their approved service company. AIn the claim report to submitted by the service company they simply stated "Hot water heater caught fire needs to be replaced." However, when they denied the claim AHS stated that "a power surge" caused the dire and therefore not covered. The service provider did not state it was a power surge and in fact we have a whole home surge protector.

AHS is even lying to the BBB despite my submission of the report showing that a power surge was ot deemed to be the cause.

Be warned: AHS will not willingly pay out on legitimate claims and is even willing to make up lies to deny your claim.

I was with American Home Shield for 5 years. We had them since we first purchased our home. The last few times the company sent a contractor that was substandard! The last time we worked with them was over a year ago and it took 4 different contractors to fix the issue. Their prices went up 30% for this latest go around and I wanted to cancel. The contract was updated and I'm obligated to a year, even though I didn't sign the contract. So I had to pay an admin fee. I paid it since I didn't want it to hit my credit. Please know that when you work with AHS you are obligated to a year and the contractors are very substandard. Might want to consider another alternative.

Please do not waste your money. I have had to have service twice now. What I notice is they have contractors that you have never heard of. When you do a Google review of who they assign to your claim, the contractor always has a 1 or 2 star review and are terrible. I just had a water leak on Oct 21. AHS told me I would receive a call from "All Hours Plumbing" or some crappy name like that, within 24 hours. 5 days later they still hadn't called me and I had to call another plumber myself and just pay out of pocket. The cherry on the top... AHS still charged me a 100.oo deductible.

Waste of money
August 10, 2020

Do not waste your money and time for this unreliable and money draining company. Their customer service is the worst that you can get. Their phone waiting time is hours and hours. If there was less than zero star I have to give them. They will not fix or replace your appliances. They will find excuse to avoid repairing or replacing your item. They will increase every year your rate. Their service is the worst that you can get in California. They know how to fool people. They have the money to advertise their business. You don't believe me, try to have an agreement with them and you will see the outcome.

They will not cover appliances unless if is within the manufactures warranty. They have clauses in the contract in which if an appliance has any overused repairs the customer is liable so nothing is ever covered. Is so sad that I chose this company. I referred them to the NV insurance Bureau

Terrible service. You can only speak with a call center who speaks very poor English to the point you are not sure they understand your request. I called for a dryer repair the first appointment they cancelled at noon on the day of the appointment. So I lost a day of work. Second appointment I called to see when they would be here. AHS had cancelled that appointment they never notified me. Lost a second day of work. When I complained they wanted me to do their job that they are paid to do and have the dry fixed and meet their qualifications for repair. To get reimbursement. I am still waiting to get my dryer fixed third appointment is another week out. Total cost to me Contract with AHS $587.88 days off work so far $620.00 cost of laundry $30.00 Cost to me so far $1237. 88 and I still have a broken dryer. Just forget AHS and buy new appliances when they break. Buying new would have been far cheaper.

Our real estate agent talked us into American Home Shield for our two properties and it's been nothing but a nightmare. They will send people to repair an item for $75, but when we had a microwave that the GE repair service said could not be repaired because the part was no longer available and told us they were recommending to AHS that the unit be replaced. AHS ran us around for almost a month, through at least TEN phone calls, acting as if they never got the report from GE, saying repeatedly we would receive an email and we never did, delaying, delaying, delaying. In more than 60 years of life, I have had some scams run on me, but nothing like this - under a veil of legitimacy. We finally threw up our hands and cancelled our policies - after they made us wait on hold for almost half an hour, of course. PLEASE do not use these people. You will regret it if you ever need any covered item replaced.

AHS will not honor their contract
September 6, 2022

This company refuses to honor their obligation to repair and or replace the appliances per the warranty I purchased from them. I paid $750 for this home owners warranty. I have been calling them for 4 months to get a cooktop repaired that the glass is cracked and the elements burnt out on. It's a fire hazard! Every time I call it's a 25-45 min wait for someone to answer the phone. Today I was hung up on 3 times. They have passed the ownership of ordering the glass cooktop to the repairman for the last 4 months. Now they claim they will order and I am supposed to call back in 3-5 business days to find out if they actually did order it. This company is claiming to provide a service and a warranty that they make utterly impossible to use. What a horrible business model to cheat your customers out of what they pay for by making the process so miserable to traverse. I want a new unit at this point and don't want to deal with them and their unprofessional contract repairmen.

If I could give zero stars I would. I schedule the a/c tune up which they offer. The contractor came out to my house for the tune up and said the refrigerant was low and that he could recharge it, but I needed to call and put in a work order, and he could charge it today. No big deal, I call put in a work order pay the fee. Well refrigerant isn't covered, which I new, so I pay for that as well. So, I paid for the a/c tune up for the guy to tell me the refrigerant was low, then I paid the service call fee for the guy that was already here to put refrigerant in, then I paid for the refrigerant. Moral of the story, a/c tune up is a scam.

This company is a scam! After being with this company for years I filed a claim for a AC unit and of course it was not covered. The company didn't even call me to inform me the status of my claim. I had to call them to check on the claim. The contractors they send out are not professional at all. Please do not waste your time or money with this company because you will regret it. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a company. They never follow up and they never cover anything, it is always patch work. You are better off saving your money and paying for breakdowns yourself.

American Home Shield has refused to supply me, a platinum level warranty customer, a receipt for the installation of a furnace. I have spent over 6 hours on the phone with their "customer service" call center and been promised 3 times over a week's time, that they would email it over. I am under contract with a buyer for the sale of my house, and the lender will not move forward without the receipt. AHS does not care about their customers, no matter how much you pay. I have been forced to hire an attorney as I am now going to be forced into foreclosure after being under contract with this buyer for 3 months! AHS should not be allowed to be in business, and I would give them ZERO STARS if I could.

After paying them monthly for about two years, I made a claim couple of months ago and it took 3 different contractors and lots of call and follow up to solve a simple drain blockage problem. I left a review for one of these contractors, then I got a letter that if I do not remove my review they will make a law suit against me! I informed AHS and they said that they will escalate to their contractor relation department but nothing has happened after over a month. Then, I called to cancel my contract with AHS and they are charging me another monthly payment as administration fee! It would be much cheaper and less trouble for me to find a good quality contractor and pay it to solve my house issue than using AHS.

THROWING AWAY YOUR MONEY!
September 27, 2020

You start contract with one price, then the price increases. If you have a problem, you wait and wait for their contractors to call you, appointment offered is always 3-4 days out. While you contend with your problem... no air conditioning, food spoiling due to frig out, can't use dishwasher or kitchen sink due to plumbing problems etc. STAY AWAY-
