Just as I clicked the button to book the hotel, I noticed the date was off by 1 day. No modification or cancelation policy. $350 room booked for a night that I won't be in town. Not cool at all.

Placed my booking through Agoda.com for a hostel in Singapore. I clearly remember keying in new credit card details as the page stated it has no store card details in my account.

There were some issues with receiving a confirmation code and the payment couldn't go through after multiple attempts. All of a sudden, the screen changed and show that payment was successful. I also received an email with confirmation of the booking showing payment done.

I was concerned there may be scams, and called the bank to cancel my card immediately. Prior to proceeding with cancelling my credit card, the officer on the phone affirmed there were no charges made on my card. I felt relieved but persisted to cancel my credit card.

A month later, I received my bank statement with Agoda.com charging another credit card which I did not enter the card details. To my horror, I found the card was used 2 years ago while I was making bookings through Agoda.com. I requested for refund and made a complaint to Agoda.com.

The person who handled the complain assured Agoda.com would NEVER store card information without customer consent. They questioned if I keyed in the credit card details therefore allowing my card to be charged.

Refunds were not possible as the hotel requested for police reports in English, while the police station I reported could only produce reports in Malay which is the national language.

Would not recommend Agoda.com to anyone.

I booked a room through AGODA was quoted 310.00USD for a 2 night stay. I started to recieve emails from them saying I needed to sign an agreement as I looked they tried to charge my credit card 842.86 which they arent suppose to do had a 250.00 added charge for cleaning... this company is a rip off. I cxld my reservation through Vtrip whose company AGODA booked it through and they said they never heard of AGODA before. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and to the FBI fraud line and the company is based out of Singapore...

Make a booking through Agoda, forget to set the currency to local. End up paying in USD plus cross border charges, ask for refund to re-book, but they refuse. BE EXTRA CAREFUL IN BOOKING, THEIR DEFAULT CURRENCY IS IN USD. Really an expensive lesson

Unreliable
July 24, 2019

I booked with agoda thinking it was a good website. I'm used to booking with Expedia or bookings.com and have never had an issue. Customer service with agoda was awful, I couldn't reach them on the phone. They canceled my initial reservation due to my credit card being expired ( i'll Give them that) my mistake was to book with the agoda again. I arrived to the hotel to find out that they had canceled my reservation a second time for no reason.
So unprofessional, as a single female traveling to a new city. I found myself stranded, tired from the traveling and without a hotel. Never again would I use this website.

Beware!

Beware of Agoda exchange rates! I booked 4 reservations for Australia. 3 of the 4 bookings were correctly charged with the prevailing exchange rate. The last one I have been trying to get Agoda to explain why suddenly their exchange rates increased (AUD to USD), despite the other three bookings were pretty consistent with the world exchange rates. I understand that exchange rates change hourly/daily, but the difference in rate within a 9 day period for one reservations against the other three doesn't make any sense. Despite providing 3 exchange rate sources and a source that they claim to be using (Bloomberg), they could not articulate the reasons why and kept on going back to the same nonsense explanation that exchange rates change daily. Their customer service is nice, but is robotic in their response without addressing my questions. Needless to say, be very careful when booking with Agoda and using conversion international rates. You might end up with a hefty additional cost when they go to charge.

BUYER BEWARE!
July 18, 2019

I reserved a hotel room for 2 nights 2 weeks prior. I never received an email confirming the reservation so I had to call the hotel, & they confirmed my booking. I had read other reviews saying buyer beware because they had their reservations canceled. I was concerned but since I spoke with the hotel, I thought I was ok. When I arrived at the hotel, they told me Agoda had canceled my reservation. When I called Agoda, the only explanation they gave me was it had been canceled due to a system error. I should've read the reviews prior to booking with them rather than after. I hope this helps others avoid the same nightmare I experienced. The last thing you want to find out when your out of town is you have no place to stay. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!

I traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand for Songkran the water festival, and booked accommodation, A little bird 2. When booking (2 months prior) I informed them I would be arriving at 1am but unfortunately my bus was late and around midnight I messaged them to let them know I would be about an hour late. When I arrived the place had lights on but the door was locked and no staff present. There was a note on the door advising to use the phone attached to call them. But after 30 minutes of calling 3 different numbers, I still hadn't gotten through to anyone so I called Agoda.
I spent over 1.5 hours on the phone to Agoda and their advise was for me to walk around at 4am, by myself with my heavy backpack and try to find somewhere open. After telling them I was not comfortable doing that and asking if they could find me somewhere open or get me a room somewhere (which they refused) I was left to walk the streets. Unfortunately, as it was a festival everywhere I could find that was open was fully booked and they wouldn't let me sit in their reception until it was light.
Please be aware that if anything goes wrong with your accommodation at night, Agoda will not help and you will be left on the streets if you can't find anything else around.

Agoda is a SCAM!
July 15, 2019

Don't use the service! We secured a "hotel" for a trip to Boston at the sonder. Worst experience ever!
Besides the horrible and non-existent customer service, they quoted a "Total Price" and later charged a $110 CLEANING FEE AND 18% TAX to the credit card.

Steer clear of both Agodo.com as well as sonder.com if staying in Boston. Fraudulent!

Booked a property in Nottingham upon arrival I was told it was student hall of residence and that I needed student ID. At no point in the web listing or the confirmation emails was this stated. Was then subjected to a humiliating hour where I was badgered to register for a course to be able and was then shown a room that looked like it was falling apart, all I can say is I'm glad I'm not a student now. Tried to call Agoda but my booking reference wouldn't register on the phone and you can't get through to them any other way by phone so I sent an email asking them to contact me urgently. Finally got through to someone at 12am where i was told I would have to find my own accommodation that night. I then complained and demanded a refund I'm still waiting 3 weeks later. What galls me the most is that the web listing now clearly states student I'd required so they know they are in the wrong yet brazenly ignore the fact that they missold the property

I book a package that suppose to come with breakfast, but after making the payment, the invoice indicate breakfast not included. After clarifying with the customer service. They could not do anything about it, and say perhaps i had see wrongly. After sending them the screenshot of the invoice and their advertisement, they still denied. This only prove the integrity of the company. Please beware. From Singapore

What a disgraceful dishonest company. When booking a hotel I noticed I have been charged twice for the same hotel. I rang the Customer Service Department who said that they couldn't refund a double booking as they needed to contact the hotel and ask them to refund my money.

Two days later I received an email from Agoda stating that "We are sorry to inform you that the hotel has denied your cancellation and no refunds will be given as your room is at a non refundable rate".
It's a joke because now if I arrive at the hotel I will have two rooms!
I decided to ring the hotel and ask if Agoda had contacted them and ask them for their side of the story.
The hotel's response was that they would be more than happy to cancel one of the double bookings and refund that amount fully. However, Agoda needs to do the refund as I booked through them.
I've now had to contact the bank, cancel my card and get a refund from the bank after proving that this company is fraudulent and trying to double charge and scam their customers.
Don't ever use Agoda or you'll be sorry!

I have made a booking for 2 adults and when the confirmation came it came to me as 1 adult. Then I complained to them about this problen on 5th July 11pm to customer service and they said they will contact me in the next morning. But they didn't and the I contacted them again and explained about the problem and they said they will contact me after 48 hours. It's been more than 3 and 1/2 day, but still they haven't and then I contact them today and they ask me to pay 15 dollars as the solution.

Agoda is horrible
July 7, 2019

This company was horrible. I kept having to talk to people with middle eastern accents that had generic names like Jim and Bob and would not give a last name. And they kept telling me they would call me back when I told them that the hotel could not find my reservation and they kept saying they could not give out any information about my reservation. Then I find out they gave my info to a third party company and my reservation was no longer valid because the hotel sold out and I was stuck with a family of seven with nowhere else to go. They offered me Agoda cash to make me happy. This was the worst vacation company experience I have ever had. If you can, avoid them at all costs.

I've been a loyal customer to Agoda for almost 10 years until today. I had a live support chat with their customer service. Booking payment method was Credit Card but confirmation sheet was 'pay at hotel upon check-in'. The question to them was: Can I make cash payment instead of CC upon checking-in? Customer service replied telling me to call up hotel instead.

Now comes the big question: Why is there an Online Travel Agent (OTA) providing such booking services and any slight change, the customer have to make an overseas call to the hotel and clarify? What is the purpose of booking through OTA when there are no services rendered to the customer?

Subsequently, I asked another question and the customer service (Romie) replied: " aside from this, anything else?" RIght after he sent that, my chat was disconnected by him. I am disgusted and I would rather make bookings through other online travel agents instead.

I made a booking through agoda on my computer but there was a glitch and at the last page of payment, the computer went blank. Not receiving any confirmation email, I thought the booking really didn't go through.
Hence I used my mobile to book the room.
To my horror, the next day, 2 booking confirmation came in and I called agoda to explain the issue as asked to cancel the extra booking.
They flatly refused, using the hotel's policy as the excuse. Simply gave the same robotic reply "it's company and hotel policy". Such cold reply.
Make sure you don't make any mistake or any computer glitch! They won't even care!

We had a CONFIRMED hotel reservation in Regensburg Germany for 7/2/19 at a lovely hotel, Hotel Peterstor for a Junior suite for 4 people. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that in fact we did not have a reservation. We had been biking all day from Ulm with 2 young teenagers who were exhausted. When we checked our email, we had a message from Agoda that our CONFIRMED hotel was full, but that they had booked us in equivalent hotel. The only problem was, that hotel had never been contacted, and was full and had no room for us. Major nightmare getting our bikes to amen care of and our kids to bed. AGODA was completely unhelpful and very unprofessional. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was always put on a long hold, and then disconnected. When I finally spoke to a supervisor at 12:30 AM, his solution was to research it, and said he would send me an email with an alternative... at this point it was almost 1 in the am. Beyond useless! His only offer to me was a 10% off coupon? As if I would EVER use Agoda again.
Run away!
