I booked the hotel but it does not have adequate Air conditioning even after I told them the problem. On top of that, the hotel does not have electricity for 4-9 hours per day. I decided to move out and Agoda would not refunded me citing that they are always on hotel side no matter how bad the accommodation is. Stay away from them
Agoda did not inform me that there was a $40.82 RESORT FEE at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas; or, if they did, which i can't confirm, it was buried in the small print. Agoda should list this expense in the booking info, stating up front that there is such & so fee and it is this much. Otherwise, you get a deceptive price and when you pay Agoda and the full price of the base booking will actually cost you more. Won't be doing further business with Agoda.
If you have ANY problems at all, even if it's within their guidelines, they will SCREW YOU OVER. I've dealt with them twice. THEY ARE SCAMMERS.
I booked a 3 day stay in Malaysia, in the Istana, The hotel was rundown and the photos clear very old. Asked for a non-smoking got a not-smoking room with cigarette burns all over, mold in bathroom, broken air condition, broken tv (CRT tv, not even plasma). Complaints fell on deaf ears. This hotel self rated 4 stars was at best 2 stars. Everything was broken including the door lock. The bed sheet had hair and blood stains, clearly not changed. I rang Agoda in the morning asking for cancellation and refund, they flat out refused. They advertise a 24 hour cancellation period but will not honor it. They screw over the hotels so hard, that the hotels give you a bad service to try to compensate their loss. They do not and will not refund or accept cancellations.
If you do book through them, pay by Credit Card (not debit card), so you can do charge reversal if you do not stay at the hotel. I would also go as far contacting the hotel and making sure your accommodation went through and that you are getting what you paid for. Agoda is based in Asia and their first language is not English, they are very prone to translation errors. I would also suggest you check with HotelsCombined or Trivago for a better deal. If Agoda's price is much below the standard then I would maybe consider contacting the hotel and double check the fine print and extras. If you need to contact Agoda for any reasons, you lost. Their call centre barely speaks english and have no powers to do anything. There a budget operator, with budget staff.
Our booking with Agoda was a nightmare. We booked a hotel in Hawaii in July 2019 and arrived for our stay December 2019. When we arrived, there was no reservation under our name and the hotel was completely booked out. We got in contact with Agoda and they said they sent it over and sure enough, they sent it again and it came straight to the hotel. The representative at the hotel was very helpful and trying to find us something and ended up fitting us in a room of lesser value than what we had already paid for. When I contacted Agoda to receive compensation, they said a supervisor would contact us next day... they never called! I have called back multiple times and they just say someone will contact us but never does. Horrible company.
I had booked a few days ago a double bed room through Agoda for $349, but when we arrived we recieved a cheaper room, three bed room with shared bathroom, that only costs $269. Agoda still charged us $349 and the hotel refused to refund and cancel the room even though they understood there had been a mistake.
We immediately called Agoda, who talked to the Do Step Inn front desk, and they agreed that we would check out straight away, and we were told the cancellation would be handled "personally" by the agent the following day.
The next day we received an e-mail from Agoda saying the hotel won't cancel the reservation and there will be no refund. I went back to the hotel and called Agoda, and again the agent at Agoda promised he would handle the case personally and the hotel promised we would receive AT LEAST the price difference. Again this was found to be untrue.
I called Agoda again and spoke to their agent Xyra, who I informed that Agoda was committing fraud by making a false booking with my card information, and pocketing the difference. The offer from the Agoda agent was a 10% refund, though I would still have to pay the full price for the first night. I told the agent this is completely unacceptable, and then I was assured by the agent that the matter would be taken care of and handled with urgency.
Today I received another e-mail from Agoda informing me that I will not be refunded anything.
Even with all the given proof and evidence given to both the hotel and Agoda, none of them takes any kind of responsability for the fault and just blames each other.
Whatever you do, stay away from this booking site, this is pure fraud!
Booked a hotel which Agoda later cancelled as there was no availablity. They still took my money and had the same room, for the same dates, advertised on their site.
Agoda Booking ID******* very happy to their excellent service with care and concern.
Low price guarantee is validity honoured.
I booked with Priceline, without informing me they switched the booking to Agoda. Then the nightmare began. Priceline advertised free breakfast and wifi. When I received the confirmation no breakfast was included. I notified Agoda and submitted screenshots to prove my case and they still refused to accept it as evidence of the truth and refused to include breakfast. Impossible to reach a live person at Priceline.
Earlier in the year I booked accommodation from Australia for our forthcoming visit to London. I booked a room in Grand Plaza Suites London. The room was described as an Executive Suite.
On arrival the room we were offered was a far cry from an executive suite. The hotel itself is in need of a major renovation.
I contacted Agoda customer service and explained the disgust of the accommodation they offer to us and the inaccuracy of their description of the room. It was dirty, smelly and in much need of repair. Agoda asked us to send photographs so they could verify what I was saying was true. Which I did. Agoda eventually offered to pay $100 USD towards our out of pocket expenses. Less than half of what it was going to cost us. We have not yet received the money as they will only pay after we have checked out and sent them a copy of the bill.
The hotel advised they don't have executive studios all of the studios are similar. So Agoda are selling and misrepresenting clients
After complaining to the hotel they eventually offered us a different kind of room but this was classed as an upgrade and would cost a further 30 pounds per night. As we had booked the room for 6 nights this was a considerable cost to us. The room was still not what I would have describe as an Executive Studio", however being tired after travelling and already paying in full for the room as we thought, we decided to take the room.
My daughter arrived 2 days later and had booked an economy studio. The room she was given was the same as we have been charged an extra 30 pounds per night for - go figure.
Save yourself the heart ace and discomfort of inferior accomodation and choose a reputable company for future holiday need so
Because it stated "last room" I hurried and booked even though I was not 100% sure of the dates. I took a screenshot of the policy as a reminder. I had 46 days prior to July 15th to make any adjustments or cancel. When I opened the confirmation email (pictured) 48 days prior it said I had 49 days to cancel or make changes. (This means now I am 1 day past cancellation according to their email but still within 3 days from the pop up) I called and let them know they had made a typo. They told me that 49 days was correct and that I could not cancel or make any changes. I told them I only wanted to adjust the dates and I still had 3 days according to the screenshot. Agoda said that I could not make ANY changes. I told them to cancel it and I would just dispute it with American Express. I disputed this charge 5 times with AMEX to no avail. How can they continue to side with the merchant when the pop up WHEN I BOOKED said 46 days. They said they do not know where I got the screenshot from so they have to go with the confirmation email. WHAT! The screenshot (pictured) was from Agoda's website with all of my booking info, dates and last room on it and the cancellation policy of 46 days boldly printed. How can you side with the merchant. I will be closing my AMEX account also. I wish I had not rushed and booked on a site I was unfamiliar with. After the fact I found out that Agoda has an (F) ranking with the BBB and I can clearly see why.
Poor customer service, incorrect option description on website.
Did my first booking through Agoda.com and had a very bad experience. I reserved a hotel in Tiruchi, Tamil Nadu, India. Agoda.com showed a room available that suited our needs with breakfast included. This was the search results page which shows all available room options. Once I selected the room option I want, I proceeded to fill in my personal details and complete the payment details and the whole reservation process. In about 15 mins I receive the confirmation email which does not have breakfast included even though my reservation included breakfast.
Here starts the pain in dealing with Agoda. I checked their website, took a screenshot of the option I reserved, which showed that breakfast was included in the booking. I then proceeded to call customer service and let them know of the issue. They informed me they need a screen shot proof that the room and price option I reserved includes breakfast. I promptly emailed them my screenshot. They responded 2 hours later saying that the price and breakfast option I selected is no longer available on their website. However, my booking was not done when the customer service agent was looking at their website. Moreover, I had shown image proof from their website of their own price and option.
TLDR: Website showed price with breakfast, booked room based on occupancy, bed size and breakfast. Got a confirmation email which said NO BREAKFAST. Customer service unhelpful even with screenshot proof of their website. Beware what you buy on Agoda.
The company charged me hundreds more than displayed.
The prices were shown in CAD (Canadian Dollars) - as we both live in Canada, and the destination was in Canada. Then... they charged us hundreds more claiming that CAD meant US dollars. WHAT? Their own website says CAD is Canadian Dollars,
Then they told me that prices change.
It ended up costing me $124 more than the hotel full price, plus I wasted my time with their "customer service" more like "useless scam service". The one plus is that the hotel actually knew I was going to stay there.
Would not use these people again, as on the only two occasions I tried to use them, they confirmed I had a room, only to send a subsequent email saying "we're sold out at...". At first I wasn't sure if this meant I got the last room, or I didn't have a room. No way to contact them an ask any questions. Lots of other sites that are more dependable.
Agoda auto cancelled my booking but charged my account. Later Shyfa one of their customer consultants on a chat was unhelpful in getting any resolution as I will have to wait for 7 days to get my money back and was advised to go to hotel directly to make a booking which is now more expensive.
DO NOT USE THIS CAMPANY.
I used Agoda to book a family trip to New Zealand for my aged parents. The airport transfere never arrived but that was only the start. Once my elderly and nervous parents finally got to the hotel we had booked and paid for they discovered that the hotel was fully booked But their booking through Agoda did not exist. It was not registered with the hotel. Agoda did not Appologise for booking error just emailed me to tell me to choose a different hotel once the hotel my parents where trying to check in at (on our paid booking).
It took 2 hours of international support calls to resolve all the while my parents were stranded. In the end the manager of the hotel helped my parents. Agoda took no responsibility. A paid booking but no room. Ridiculous! Do not use them
I am utterly disappoinyed by Agoda's way of business. It shows fake discount, making it as if we are getting good deals while actually other websites sell the same room at a cheaper price.
I book 9 rooms through agoda for 4 nights (20 feb to 24 feb) in bali. It showed the original price of 1 million rupiah (USD 72 per night) which was discounted to idr 365,000 (USD 26 per night). I thought it was a good deal and i immediately book all 9 rooms, to secure what i thought was a good deal. I paid around 390,000 per room per night (due to some 'hidden' fees)
I then check booking.com and found that it was selling the same room for 350,000 per room per night. It did not have that fake discount price. I also checked zenrooms and found similar price without the fake discount.
So we can see how agoda is fooling its prospective consumers by showing fake discount and making us subconsciously rushing to 'seal the deal'.
I took screenshots of the websites as a proof
I have been fraudulently charge by agoda for other accomodation that was not booked. Agoda refer me to my bank despite notifying that I am not in my home country and have started my travel and they have taken my spending money
Never make a booking through Agoda they do not value their customers. I had made a booking for an exam in a nearby hotel intimated to make a booking within 44 hours provided with a useless link for payment. To make things worse called the customer care paid & yo the booking cancelled. No tiny amount of respect for the customer :/ was waiting on call hold for the agent to help me she didn't return for 20 mminutes what cheap tactics to make you cut the call. Wish I could trash them but it wouldn't matter to them. THE CUSTOMERS HAVE NO CARE & ARE LET TO SUFFER. Wish there was a negative scaling on rating this Agoda
The website displayed a Price of £1137 which is what I thought was going to be deducted from my card. The actual amount that was deducted was 1585 Euros.
I contacted Agoda to find out why I had been overcharged and they explained that the following charges were added with out my knowledge.
10% VAT
Electricity 30 Euros
Cleaning 90 Euros
Currency £40.97
I then got another email form the hotel to say I had to pay Additional money in cash on arrival 122 Euros
City Tax 42 Euros
Linen 80 Euros
I thought I was paying £1137 for this booking and in reality it is going to be closer to 1707 Euros (£1519) a substantial difference of £382 extra in hidden charges.
Agoda will not let me cancel the booking and has only offered £107.97 in compensation.
STAY AWAY FROM BOOKING WITH THIS MISLEADING WEBSITE
Answer: I didn't know that? I have had the best deals from them and I find them very helpful.
Answer: I don't bother making lists just search for where I am going and select the best deal for at least 1 mth before its needed and keep track of prices
Answer: You maybtry the resort website http://thecliffresort.com.vn and check the payment method. I got a better rate thru agoda, so did not contact the resort directly. The photos in agoda and resort web truly reflect the rooms and facility. http://thecliffresort.com.vn
Answer: For me as well very bad experience with this site. The administrator failed to confirm my booking in the evening, claiming they could not see it in their system and stating that the reserved room was unavailable, despite all the correct booking information being provided. Instead, they offered me a different room. At 10 PM on December 31st, traveling with a child, I had no choice but to agree and pay again for the alternative room. I immediately reported the issue to Agoda for assistance. The room we were given was in an unacceptable condition: it was dirty, there were holes in the bathroom walls, and mold was visible. It was nowhere near the standard described in the booking. The following morning, a different administrator located my original booking and refunded the payment for the additional room. However, they falsely claimed that I had stayed in the room I originally booked. This is not true—the room I stayed in differed significantly from the description and photos provided at the time of booking. Despite providing all necessary evidence, Agoda has refused to support my complaint, stating that the hotel confirmed my booking, which does not address the poor service, the forced additional payment, or the unacceptable condition of the room. This experience demonstrates an appalling lack of customer care from both the hotel and Agoda. As a customer, I feel my rights were ignored, and no proper resolution was provided. I expect Agoda to take accountability and address this issue properly, as this level of service is completely unacceptable.
Answer: Well, you probably need to call the customer service online or send them email from Agoda to get a reply. I feel that it was in vain to look for any help or compensation once your reservation has been done. Even the you overlooked some tricky information, Agoda will completely ignore what you said and push the blame to the hotel/property or the users. That is how I feel after trying so sort our the issue. Once a mistake is made, we probably can only eat it. Never expect they will admit any misinformation on line.
