I placed a toolbox order for my husband, obviously expensive. It did not show as shipped 2 weeks in. So I called ACE. I spoke to 6 different people on 6 different occasions. The last being the "Supervisor" who was terrible by the way. These people are robots and they DO NOT CARE about your time or money you spend with them. She said she could not refund me because the package was delivered. However when I called they said they didn't show it delivered it was back at the warehouse. I had to call the warehouse and am still looking for my package. This has gone on for three weeks and I have literally 7 hours worth of calls in. This company is the worst company I have ever worked with. I will never recommend them and hope they go out of business.
ACE won't let you use gift cards. I tried to purchase something at Ace using my ace gift card and the cashier keep looking at my card for like an hour asking me all these random question about it while refusing to even attempt to scan it in.
When I tried to use it online but they would not let me use my 4th gift card.
I called ace customer support which may be outsources to Mexico or something because no one seem to speak English.
Very disappointing. I hope they go out of business after they treat their customers like this.
If you're wondering why Amazon has cornered the market with on-line sales, try placing an order with Ace. We ordered a grill and some accessories, both of which showed as available. The accessories order got cancelled within minutes noting it was out of stock. The grill order got the delivery date pushed out two days after the order was placed and the day before the order was scheduled to arrive... after we left town, of course. Fool me once.

Ordered two (2) Radiance Vinyl Roll-up Bamboo Cordless Shades 96" x 72" for our patio. Over the years, have usually purchased same at Lowes, but this year that size was unavailable. Google searched for same, found needed size at Ace Hardware, and ordered two (2), one for east end and one for west end, luckily about 14' apart. Arrived almost as scheduled (1 day late). Discovered each was a different color than the other, one lighter, the other a bit darker. Maybe the warehouse where these are stored is dark and the warehouseman couldn't see the difference? No idea, but not pleased. Other than this little bitty problem, nothing else to say. First time customer of Ace Hardware; more than likely, last time customer.
Ordered 2 can of spray paints online for in store pickup. One works fine, the other is dried. The ball inside originally wasn't moving, after lots of shaking, it moved but wasn't usable, it spray chunks. They said they won't take any "opened" item back, so wasted $10 on trash - literally. I would accepted store credit or exchange! Check your products before leaving the store.
You don't have as many options either. Take screws for instance... I am dry walling and have gone through a dozen boxes of screws from home Depot without a glitch. I tried ace... I could only buy ace brand there, and they are more expensive... Nor were the larger boxes cheaper by the weight. You may expect higher cost to mean higher quality - Nope! When I used the ace screws, several snapped under the torque of my driver, and I kept getting painful metal splinters in my fingers from the spinning screws. Neither has ever happened to me using the drywall screws from HD... Plus screws are cheaper in bulk at HD. That's just one example... But after numerous bad experiences, I won't buy more ace brand. Closer proximity is not worth the extra expense to me.
Online site for the offline chain of hardware stores. I grew up going to Ace Hardwares but there isn't one in the town I live in now, so this is my go to online spot for buying random home improvement and other household repair and maintenance products. Paint, nails, duct tape, you name it.
Good luck researching the products on the site."Overview" no link, specs, the same, reviews? Good luck. Many items do not match store inventory so you may drive across town when the item was in stock the nearby Ace. Yesterday the Paypal link was inoperative, website insisted I was not a Rewards member, curbside pickup did not have my complete order, etc. I love to support local businesss e.g. I will pay more) and the help and advice is miles ahead of the Big Boxes, at least in my experience, with two stores I use but these are franchises, and all the good and bad that this implies. So go old school-: call or better yet go in person. Ace: many of the products are needed that day when you are in midst of a project-don't compete with the monoliths, so play to your local advantage and clean up your online act.
I prefer to support our local ACE hardware store as much as possible, but the pricing structure on some items is totally out of line. Recently, I was going to purchase some 22 ga bell wire to rewire the safety sensors on our garage door opener. The per foot price was ridiculous. Was basically the same price as 14/2 NM cable. Just this week I needed two brass end caps for a plumbing job. Went to ACE and the caps were almost $7 each. Told the helper that was nuts pricing. He said prices had increased a lot. Needless to say, I know that, but again a ridiculous price. I went to a big box store and purchased the caps for $1.40 each. Local ACE always has plenty of help, but I have also found some workers are not that competent either. I am probably stuck to shop there for some of the specialty hardware items, but only as a last resort. Too bad, because there used to be another non franchise hardware store in the neighborhood and the help and inventory was 2nd to none. Unfortunately, the store was in an area targetted for redevelopment and it never reopened.
Professional grade product. Easy install after watching brief instructional videos. Used dewalt impact driver for self tapping screws and worked well. And I'm not a professional installer…just simple retired homeowner happy to learn and try something new. Tips in video very helpful, including trimming small tip off end edge of overlap screen to allow ease of closing gap between sections.
Excellent, I have been shopping and buying from Ace for 50 years. I think their concept offers more to the buyers than the Box Stores. Most of all much better service. You're in and out. Not like a box store where you have to be brazen to stop and ask an employee where to find something. Ace employees ask can I help you. They also seem knowledgeable enough to explain how to use what your buying
Plus I like the idea that the owner is an independent businessman. I hate given my money to some giant public company where nobody cares about their customers.
My local Ace Hardware store is located on Orange Ave in Orlando, Fl. If you need to paint anything, go see their paint specialist! Roger is AMAZING! He is so knowledgeable. The entire staff is awesome. I have never had a bad experience there. Love, love, love the customer service! Its rare these days to ever get to say this. If your local. They are worth the trip
Stopped in for a special request and Al Clark stepped up to assist me. Not only did he have an idea to meet my needs but also help me figure how to mount it. Enjoyed meeting Al and very glad he came up with such a great answer to my problem.
I've tried to order online from ace hardware on more than one occasion. The order almost never fills and if it does, it gets delayed. They won't even tell you if they cancel your order. I went to the store just to find out my order was canceled. I'll spend my money elsewhere. These guys are the worst.
Ace always delivers. They are always knowledgeable, polite, and professional.
They are helpful without being a nuisance. They ask simply if they can help you find something.
Gotta love them. Other businesses would benefit from their work ethic.
Landon Bowls delivery driver for the Lenexa KS commercial headquarters frequently had sexual relations with the women he delivered to as he was delivering items & sometimes made unscheduled stops to entertain. That's time theft. HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL & NEGLIGENT! ACE should do a better job of screening employees!
I find it hard to believe that my local Ace Hardware at 4870 Gilbert Rd, Chandler, AZ has boxes of Remington ammunition stacked up next to the check out register on the counter. The one check out person was tasking over at the candy area, and if I was so moved, could have easily grabbed a box. With school shootings etc, I find it hard to believe that ammunition is treated as an impulse item and not secure. Really bad judgement from my point of view. Could you ideally have it locked up or at least under the counter to help avoid it getting into the wrong hands? You might think I am some ultra liberal. Wrong. Just tired of people getting shot and schools attacked by people who are mentally unstable. Wake up Ace Hardware!
Love my local ACE but the online site is horrible. Experience was a disaster from beginning to end. I have looked online and have never seen such horrible ratings for an online store so I guess I am not the only one. Stick to reputable online vendors folks such as Amazon.

Do not order from Ace if the product is not already at the store. They will lie about the delivery date and all they will say is, "We apologize for the inconvenience". This canned answer does not fix anything or make anything better for the customer. It just shows that you do not actually care about my inconvenience and you have no plans to address it in any way.
Even though Ace Hardware does not regularly send its customers a request for feedback, my wife and I felt we had to give Jeffrey at the Clewiston Florida location, the credit he deserves. He is an exemplary employee, who goes out of his way to help the customers. He walked us through the entire process of repairing a rotted ceiling plank, and made sure we had all of the necessary materials and tools to do the repair. In fact he went as far as drawing pictures to illustrate the steps needed in the repair process. Jeffrey thoroughly answered all of our questions. He was patient, polite, extremely knowledgeable, dedicated and cares about his customers. He is a terrific asset to Ace Hardware.
Answer: I purchased a quite expensive electric yard tool from ACE, got it home and it would not even assemble properly. That was a problem with the manufacturer, which is Black & Decker, not the hardware store. I try to avoid Black & Decker because of similar problems with their products in the past; the reason I bought this tools was because my wife wanted to use it and has not had any problems with Black & Decker products so I got it home thinking to make my wife happy with the tool. The tool is a string trimmer and it was not possible to install the guard at the bottom of the shaft. Perhaps a hammer would have helped but I don't like having to hammer a brand new tool together to make it work. Ace promptly refunded my money on that one. Another time I purchased an Ego yard tool and got it home and decided it was not what I need so I took it back and my money was right away refunded.
Answer: I am just a customer. I have never bought any gift cards and so have no idea why Ace is not responding properly.
Answer: There may be, I buy things from various sources depending on where I am and so on. In bigger cities there are most likely more competitors than here in this relatively small city. Nonetheless, here, ACE is excellent as far as I am concerned.
