Do NOT shop at Ace Hardware Online!
July 25, 2022

I will try to keep this short, while fully explaining my complaint. A few weeks ago, the face of my thermostat fell off and no longer worked when reattached to the main base. My ultimate idea to fix the problem was to purchase the EXACT same thermostat and simply replace the old face with a new one. I was talked into purchasing a different thermostat and that did not work. I was unable to get a company to come out soon enough and so I tried again. In looking at the currently installed thermostat, I needed a Honeywell RTH2510b1000. I went to a local retail store that had a Honeywell RTH2510b. Apparently this was the next step in this line of thermostats. With the heat, I was desperate to give it a shot. Although it was almost the exact same thermostat, it did not work. Once I got home and came to this conclusion, I began looking online. I searched specifically for the RTH2510b1000 and found one at an online retailer and at Ace Hardware's website. I purchased both in an attempt to get one quicker. Ace had an upcharge of $33+ to express ship the thermostat. I purchased both and waited. Keep in mind, I already attempted the similar version and knew that this version did not work with replacing the face of the thermostat. I ensured it was the RTH2510b1000 (the 1000 is the important part). I even double-checked the pictures because there is a slight difference in the grooving of the face. I then waited. I received the package from both the online retailer and Ace Hardware. Both were wrong. I received word that they no longer made/carried the RTH2510b1000, but I was not made aware of this during the purchase. Eventually I was able to get someone to replace the thermostat and so I began the process of returning the ones I no longer needed. I had absolutely zero issues with any of the sellers, until I got to Ace Hardware. It states to make a return to a local store. My first attempt was denied because that location did not carry that item and refused to accept the return. I emailed customer support. After several days, they finally responded with a store, the manager's name and their phone number to confirm she was on site before going to return the item. I finally did this yesterday. My monies were returned MINUS the $33+ spent expediting a wrong item. I wrote back to customer support stating that I specifically purchased what was stated as an RTH2510b1000 but was sent the wrong item and that because their product was mislabeled, I should not have to incur the costs to expedite something I already knew didn't work because I had purchased said item in person. Essentially their response was that the item was labeled properly, and I should accept that I received a refund at all. I will provide photos of this last email, a picture of the item they say was sent, a picture of the item actually sent and a picture of the item I initially thought I was purchasing.

Horrible Management Ace 75249 Location
March 19, 2022

I went to my neighborhood Ace Hardware store, located at 7586 Mountain Creek Parkway Dallas, TX ******* on 3/19/22, at 12:19 pm. I experienced one of the worst management (Andrew) and cashier (Kathy) situations I have ever encountered in my life. I've shopped at this local location for a few years, and I have been honored as a Military veteran and received a 10% discount upon showing my Veterans I.D. Today I noticed I only received a -1.00 discount from a $63.85 purchase after I received my receipt from Kathy. I notified the cashier Kathy that I only received a $1.00 discount and that a 10% military discount should be around -$6.38 off of the purchase. Kathy replied there wasn't anything she could do, so I immediately asked for a refund so I could go to another competitor that honors their Veterans and get my 10% discount. She immediately refunded me my money and I asked for a manager. I explained to Andrew who was the manager on duty and he tried to enter the military discount after I showed him my ID again and the system only allowed a $1.00 discount once again. Instead of Andrew being the manager and having the capability to override the system manually and entering the 10% discount for a veteran, Andrew politely apologized and acted like there wasn't anything he could do. I traveled 5 miles to Home Depot in Cedar Hill and purchased my item and received my 10% discount which I should have received from my local Ace Hardware store located less than a half of a mile from my home. This location needs major training and Andrew being the manager should understand the importance of keeping a loyal customer and making sure veterans receive their discounts for picking Ace to shop at while Lowes and Home Depot offer the same incentives for their veterans who choose to do business with their companies. There needs to be training at this location because this should have been a simple override, and a 10% discount entered by the manager. Please send a trainer or allow the District manager to retrain this location because it is needed seriously if it wants to continue to get its market share which is supported by local homeowners. I will call Ace Hardware Customer Care at *******223 Monday morning to make sure this doesn't happen to another Veteran at our local Ace Hardware store.

Ace Hardware Stores No Good - Don't shop there
December 18, 2017

Ace Hardware sent out a coupon for 50 percent off any item. My friend went in to town to buy a $13 bag of chicken feed hoping to apply the 50 percent off coupon discount. The owner of the Ace Hardware franchise store in or near Mineral Springs, North Carolina, said that even though the legal wording on the coupon stated there were no exclusions and according to legal wording on the coupon, it should be good for half off of the chicken feed price, he, the Ace Hardware franchisee / store owner said that he just decided on his own not to apply the coupon because he could not make enough money on such a low priced item.

Needless to say my friend was disgusted with the way the Ace Hardware Store was operating and he told the owner he would not shop there even again. I wrote to the corporate Ace Hardware website two times and asked them to send my friend a coupon for a free bag of chicken feed to make up for their bad illegal treatment of the customer and reneging on the legal coupon offer. They have ignored my emails so I hope they will get themselves enough bad will from people to pay them back by not buying anything from them.

Since they did not make up for their error and make sure my friend got the free bag on chicken feed, I am writing this complaint against all Ace Hardware Stores all over the USA and hoping that people will not shop there because they do not live up to their advertised offers and these Ace Hardware Stores just get to each make up their own policies as they see fit in individual customer circumstances.

The beginning part of this YouTube video tells about what my Friend experienced... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaHjcLa5s7Y...

Erase the leading and trailing three dots for correct address

Mini! Van Vs Garage: They Both Lost

These small hardware stores are beginning to act worse that the big box hardware stores so maybe we ought to all just stay away from them as you cannot expect small-town community hospitality or fair customer care.

Ace is NOT the helpful place.

*******@AceHardware.com

I am doing all this complaining on behalf of what happened to my Internet friend totally on my own with no coaxing from anyone solely because I just do not like to see people treated unfairly and dishonestly.
