Hi Jack! Thanks for posting your question here. Similar to eBay and Amazon Marketplace, OpenSky brings merchants who offer a wide variety of merchandise together with interested buyers. However, we only promote new items, and we generally specialize in a few specifics areas, such as womens clothing and apparel and consumer electronics. Much of what sets us apart from the other marketplaces you mentioned involve our marketing/merchandising, and the programs we have available for merchants. If you are interested in learning more, we encourage you to review our Help page at https://www.opensky.com/customer-support or call our Customer Love team directly at (844)707-7779 between 9 AM and 5 PM ET, Monday through Friday. You can also send us an email from https://www.opensky.com/content/contact-us if you would prefer.

Stay with EBay or Amazon at least you can trust them Open Sky takes your money and does not ship claims it is the company that they get the merchandise from does not ship the orders, They also do not give you refunds if you do get the merchandise they charge a hefty re stocking fee and then give you a credit to buy something else. Buyer beware

I am still waiting for a credit for an item ordered the beginning of December, recei
Ved after Christmas, and returned in February after repeatedly requesting a return label. Buyer be aware!

They are very different both in the variety and quality of both their products & shipping reliability, as well as, customer service. OpenSky relies on their sellers to do the shipping. After you order you are at the sellers mercy!
I had three of four orders that never showed up. Even though the merchant(s) claimed to have shipped. One item supposedly sat in one location for 21 days!
I'll certainly NEVER order from OpenSky (Pie in the Sky) again.

It appears they take orders as a third party and have the companies ship. They are very untrustworthy. Amazon or eBay are the way Togo.

The only way I got a refund was via the BBB. They, OpenSky, tried lying saying they showed it was delivered to me. Of course when I asked for the tracking # it only showed a shipping label was created. Never will I deal this outfit again!

Yes, Amazon and eBay actually send what you order. Open Sky doesn't... they send you bogus shipping info and it appears they acutally shipped it but that is not the case. Do not do business with this company.

Very simple answer... I never recieved my order my opensky. Do not order from opensky unless you just feel a need to give away some money because you will not get what you order but your credit card will be charged immediately. Amazon and Ebay i been ordering from them for years and they are legit. No problems ever with recieiving my order. Any problems those two companies address it right away and will even refund your money if there is any problem. They dont give you the run around like opensky telling you to hunt down your merchandise. That place is a rip off read the other reviews many people report the same problem i had. Never recieved order. And dont be mislead by opensky response and phone number to customer service. They are full of $#*!! They never made good on my order or my refund it was just a loss for me. I dont even try to call them or be upset over the loss of my money. I just know not to ever ever order from them and hopefully many people will read these reviews and put those scammers out of business.

I've dealt with Ebay since their inception. Their merchants and even individual sellers are rated - by almost every purchaser and are insightful and accurate. I have 40+ transactions ranging from clothing to computers and have never been disappointed. Big sellers/stores on Ebay are so concerned about providing superior service and increasing future sales, they are easy to communicate with and are reputable. Not so with Open Sky who doesn't care whether their merchants are reliable are not. I have never experienced such indifference and disregard for customer service. I guess I'm on a campaign to make sure their existence is short lived. Amazon is wonderful with pricing, delivery, always asks about packaging and satisfaction with products, AND they will expedite returns if there is damage or if you are not satisfied. Instant response to issues and never a problem with returns. Free shipping, free returns and credits issued when their UPS label is scanned at pickup. They are the best. BAN Open Sky and their "Love (to screw you) Team". Bad, bad people!

They are different in that they have literally no support for your orders in terms of canceling or changing them at all. Actually, I'm not convinced they have a support team at all as I sent emails twice a day for over ten days and never received any replies other than form letters. In short, steer clear of OpenSky unless you like torturing yourself.

It's not that they are so different per se, each has items you may choose from on their site. What is different is that you are totally unaware the cost of shipping may well exceed the cost of the item. Hope that is helpful.

Hi Jack! Contrary to what OpenSky has written above, they are absolutely nothing like Ebay and Amazon. Ebay and Amazon are highly rated companies that stand behind their products, their 3d party sellers and they are honest, caring companies. OpenSky, on the other hand, is one of the worst companies to deal with and have thousands of negative reviews. They hide behind excuses like, "We deal with tousands of independant merchants", and " We are soory for your troubles", but, in effect, they are a thieving, dishonest, poorly run company. They blame others for their shortcomings and never, ever, take responsibility for their poor performance. If you deal in any way with them, from being a buyer, to seller, to "independant merchant", you will regret it. OpenSky is all about stealing your money and giving you nothing, or selling you junk, most times poorly made. I am surprised they have not been shut down already. For me, I have complained to BBB and to the New York State Attorney General's office. In short, this company is a fraud... that is how they differ from Ebay and Amazon. Save yourself some grief and forget about this terrible company.

I don't know about Ebay, I've never dealt with them, but I can say that Amazon is a great company. They take full responsibility for the products they sell & ship, while Open Sky doesn't. You're dealing with a third party with Open Sky & if you don't get what was promised, they just slough it off. They refuse to get to the root of the probem & leave the customer hanging. Amazon wants satisfied customers & repeat business, Open Sky doesn't care.

Their shipping is horrible. Their customer service is non-existent. They use bait & switch marketing and their products are over-priced.

Stick with Ebay and Amazon as others have said. I will never order from open sky again. The merchandise is not as described or pictured. Shoddy merchandise and shoddy customer service. Do not waste your time.

Ebay and amazon require the sellers to honor the agreement. Opensky is independent and apparently could care less if the send you what you order and pay for or not. They never completed my order and never refunded any money. I recommend you do not buy from them

Do not buy through this site. They take your money and then blame the company when you don't receive the product. You can't reach them by phone and they do not reply to email. They will give a phones tracking number. Then they will promise to refund your money but never will.

Avoid Open Sky. As Linda S. Says above, OS is "just a middleman... and horrible at that." Their over 300+ one star reviews keep growing. I was interested in an item, placed it in my cart, and then forgot about it. OS reached out and encouraged me to take advantage of the limit time sale offer. The short story is that in less than 24 hours of me placing my order, the price dropped even lower - 50%! I could have handled that happening a week later, but less than 24 hours?! I didn't even have time to cancel the order. No adjustment. No willingness to provide contact with the seller. But they were quick to take payment. You have no way of knowing how OS vets their marketplace merchants, how or if these merchants will take responsibility for their merchandise or the manner in which they advertise. OS does not take responsibility when the merchant does not do either of these things because they claim they deal with thousands of merchants. As I said told OS, it shouldn't matter whether I am dealing with 1 merchant or 10,000+ merchants. Good customer service keeps people coming back and spreads like wildfire; bad customer service spreads just as fast, but people go elsewhere. The other two companies you are enquiring about are well established and are known for their customer service and buyer protection. I have never had issues with the merchants I have purchased from in these marketplaces. I dislike giving less than positive reviews, but unfortunately, that's all I could offer OS after my one and only purchase.

Same as almost everyone above! EBay & Amazon are both concerned about their feed back comments open sky isn't I guess or they would clean up their act. It took me 3 months to get my order & it was only half the stuff while I was charged for all the same day I ordered. Then I received an email saying the rest of my order was no longer available still no refund & that was at Christmas? DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!

My experience with Opensky is pretty good--get a free return label after I made a complain here. So I believe opensky is improving its service.

In case you cant tell by the notes on this site, do not order anything from Opensky. It's a not a reputable company by any stretch of the imagination. It's extremely difficult to get your money back, I just received a refund that was ordered in November, received in January and sent right back. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN, THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN.

Ebay and Amazon offer customer service and purchase protection. Open Sky seems designed to rip you off. Their advertising us questionable at best, and they do not support their customers at all. Stick with ebay or amazon... you'll probably find better pricing, and if there is any problem with your purchase, they have processes to deal with it. Bottom line: Open Sky sucks. That's the difference.

Amazon and e-bay offer superior customer service and products are as described. Shipping is reliable and it is usually pretty easy to return or exchange items.

Open Sky is just a middleman... and horrible at that! If you see an item you like, do a search on Ebay. You'll get it at a lot lower price and you're dealing directly with the seller. Buyers' ratings on Ebay are important to the Sellers; so they will do everything possible to make the customer happy.
