Question:

I booked a reservation and cant call the owner, phone number is 15 digits

Answer:

Homeaway and vrbo and flipkey will not allow direct communication by phone or private email between owners abd prospective renters. Everything has to go through their internet email system. This has happened recently due to the profit motive of the rental sites. They charge owners now for everything including taking a perfentage out of the security deposit and high fees for credit cards used. It is all for the benefit of the rental sites now. If you find out what city the owner lives in and have their full name you might be able to find contact info for them in a phone directory or online. Otherwise you are stuck with the rental site system for communication. Even if you try to hint at your phone or enail over their system they monitor your messages and will not send any message or attachment that might alow you direct contact with an owner. Carol

Question:

Trying to get back my property deposit, payment on my card went to homeaway but they keep wanting me to deal with the owner? who has it?

Answer:

I had the same issue. Homeaway says that Expedia has the relationship with the owner and both Expedia and Homeaway say that the owner is not answering them. The owner has done the same with our direct messages and calls. Therefore, we don't have a way to contact the owner and they have already charged us for a stay we cannot use due to COVID. I had the same issue with Airbnb, but they refunded me 100% in less than 24 hours after I sent them confirmation of flight cancellations! Other customer service quality.

Answer:

Don't trust this company if you are a homeowner. They don't properly vet guests. And take no responsibility if there is damage or fraud.

Question:

Just curious why a member for over 6 years has no reviews?

Answer:

I am on this forum because the review I left for a property over a month ago was never posted on the property listing. I am suspicious that the property owners can choose to not allow it. The property I stayed at is booked constantly but there are very few reviews and all are 5* only

By Susan M.
Question:

Answer:

They are monopolizing that industry by hitting both renters and owners. The way they did it is Criminal they all got together, first we saw deals done to include other rental companies. This looked like they were extending the choice but what was happening is called MONOPOLY The main players in the game not only have the power to punish the Traveler and the Renters with sanctions and hefty FEES but they can now bring down the economy of any resort. Or any country dependent on Holiday rentals and hotels This is getting dangerous. The best way to stop them is for the Travelers not to pay their Fees but deal directly with the owners for a better service as well.
