I ordered an item for my daughter's birthday that was supposed to arrive in 3-7 business days. I went through the complete order process, paying with my credit card through Pay Pal, and I received an email confirmation from Gearbest saying that they had received my payment and would begin to process my order "immediately", so everything seemed fine. A few days later I received another email with a "friendly reminder" that my order had not been paid for, and in order for them to continue to process the order I would need to submit payment... and yet I had already paid for the item and had an email from Gearbest confirming that!
Contacting them was very difficult: I found a phone number on their Facebook page which immediately went to an answering machine. I tried to write a support ticket, but when I submitted it, it asked me to log in, and when I did so, it took me back to the support ticket form, but the "submit" button no longer worked. I tried to click on "live chat" on the help page, but I got at "404" error. Finally, I made sure I was logged in first, and then completed a whole new support ticket form, and was finally able to submit it. Much later, at night, I received a response saying that they had checked the status of my order and it was "waiting for payment", so I should either pay or cancel my order. They completely ignored the part of my message that explained that I already had paid and even had an email from them confirming it! I had already paid them once, I was certainly not going to pay them again, so I cancelled the order.
I checked my credit card statement today and it looks like the charge hasn't gone through yet, so it is possible that the transaction "failed" somehow. I guess? I will continue to monitor it though. I've done a lot of online shopping and have never had that happen before (I've had technical problems before saying that the transaction didn't work, but I've never had a company confirm that they received payment and then tell me I still needed to pay, a few days later). Even if that is the case, based on the other features of their website that weren't working, the difficulty I had contacting them, and the fact that their system for doing simple financial transactions does not function very well, I would never trust this site again.
Update: I continued to monitor my credit card, and I never was charged for the item. I consider myself lucky that I was able to cancel my order and nothing was lost. I am guessing that my payment transaction must have failed for some reason (I have no idea why), but if it did I was never informed. I would still not feel confident shopping on this site because it was so difficult to contact customer service due to lack of contact information on the site (no phone number), and features on the website that didn't work. Also when I did finally manage to submit a ticket the response I got was rude, and did not address my concerns. I am not willing to try to make another purchase there and just hope that everything works out OK next time.
