THEY OFFER HOTELS THAT DON'T WORK WITH THEM!
I booked 2 rooms with them in York (City Guest House), which I paid in advance. When I arrived, the extremely helpful owners said they hadn't taken bookings from Agoda since months ago.
I contacted their customer service, and they said they couldn't accommodate us anywhere else because there wasn't availability (that was a LIE), offering only the refund of the money paid plus $85 in AgodaCash (to be used only to "eligible" properties).
I was travelling with 2 older people, so I had to book another place. The cheapest found was £350, more expensive than the original.
I spent more than 3 hours over the phone with them, which ruined the day, because they kept hanging up the phone, even the supervisor!
They haven't refunded the money I paid yet, and they refuse to take responsibility for selling something that doesn't exist. How can I trust them ever again?
Well, after a few weeks, many phone calls and emails, I finally got a refund.
23.10.23: I must be stupid because I fell again. I always thought that everyone can make a mistake, so I gave them another chance, and they did it again!
I booked a hotel for a weekend in London, which was precisely where I was looking for. Agoda emailed me saying that the booking was confirmed. However, because of my previous experience, I tried to contact the hotel to verify that. The hotel didn't reply to any of my messages, and the phone number provided by Agoda was wrong. I reached Agoda's customer service (a few times) explaining my concerns, and they always asked me to wait, saying that I should be worried because the booking was confirmed. A couple of weeks later, surprise surprise, I receive an email saying that my 'requested hotel has failed to confirm with our supplier'. So, if I hadn't reached them to verify, I would have gone to London and, again, no place to stay!
It's unbelievable. How aren't these people out of business?
