Spectrum no longer prorates the service fees for your final month of service. If your billing period begins on the 1st of the month and you cancel on the 2nd, they will bill you for the entire month of service.
Their explanation is that is simpler for the customer to understand. LOL.
This explanation, while laughable on its face, makes even less sense when they do prorate the equipment fees. Consistency is apparently not one of their strengths.
Its actually too bad because I was considering returning to their service but clearly not now.

Southern Living, a magazines.com publication, continues to solicit my mother to renew her subscription. She passed away in December 2019. In prior years, they have been notified in writing and via email to no avail. As of today, it is not possible to contact them via their "Email Us" page since it won't recognize a valid mail address.

Tip for consumers:
Be very wary of any subscription service that automatically renews and presents roadblocks to cancel.

After being informed that the most important product I ordered wouldn't be available until after Christmas, I have tried repeatedly to cancel my order. They simply ignore upset customers. Will have to challenge the credit card charges and file complaints with governmental agencies.
