It doesn't need to be for "Mom." I called about support for my husband. Two people were contacted, by A Place for Mom in our small town, and both contacted me within the hour (and this was on a weekend). I was able to get an aasessment completed in one day and the caregiver was assigned. The caregiver is an older gentleman and my husband and he get along great!
There is nothing more stressful, more emotionally draining, than being faced with such a decision for an aging parent. It's so overwhelming, that I literally didn't know where to start. Lisa, at a Place for Mom, helped me navigate it all by coordinating visits, sending me vital and very helpful information! It's a great service that is much needed at this stage of life.
When I began looking for help for my parent, a friend recommended that we contact A Place For Mom, as they would could keep the search from feeling overwhelming. When I first signed up, they were extremely quick in reaching out and establishing what I was looking for, then put us in contact with several agencies who would be able to meet our needs. They were helpful in both narrowing our search for Helpers and care facilities, as well as setting up tours and arranging interviews.
It's so hard to know where to start when looking for memory care for a loved one! I was helping a friend and didn't really know where to start. The hospital recommended several agencies that would provide guidance. I recognized A Place for Mom from their TV ads, so I called them. I was assigned to Stan as our advisor. After answering several questions, he narrowed down the search to ones in her price range and location area. This alone was a huge help. We were given great tips on what to look for and questions to ask when touring facilities. Several appointments for tours were arranged. Stan stayed in touch and answered questions quickly. We went through several requests for more appointments and chose the best place for my friend's loved one. I cannot imagine trying to do all this without the expertise and calm, supportive guidance of our senior advisor from A Place for Mom!
I needed to find a place for a senior citizen friend that was not in condition to return home from a rehab.
I was at a loss and receiving little to no help from the rehab facility. Out of desperation and some reluctance I heard the ad for A place for Mom and called. I will say the first week I was overwhelmed with phone calls and emails from multiple places for a few days that I wondered if I had made a mistake contacting them. BUT, after the initial surge and connecting with Martina things calmed down.
Martina listened to all my concerns, needs and details in reference to my friend. She narrowed down the huge amount of locations that would best suit my friend and connected me with to facilities that could work. It took a while to get my friend placed due to issues caused by the rehab. Martina stayed in constant contact with assistance and guidance through the entire process. My friend essentially ended up moving to Carnegie Assisted Living run by Tracy. Tracy is also amazing and without her help and intervention I believe my friend would have been stuck and lost to the system! Without Martina from A Place for Mom helping find a place and connecting me with Tracy, who has been a blessing, I'd have been totally lost. I believe both of these ladies saved my friend and has given her a chance to actually live and enjoy her senior years! CALL THEM! Be prepared to be initially overwhelmed but hand in and let them help you! It was the best decision I could have made for my friend! Thank you to all involved!
I've used this service years ago for my mom and my experience allowed me to be more relaxed and less anxious during a time of stress. Well, when we needed to find a new facility for our dad, I did not hesitate to reach out to A Place For Mom to help with our search. It again delivered. Thank you!
A Place for Mom was spectacularly helpful in finding an apartment in Raleigh, NC near my daughter's. They sent me a list of places that matched what I was looking for with very helpful information about each place. They made the search for an apartment very easy!
My Place for Mom advisor, Connie, was so helpful at a very stressful time. She identified 6 assisted living homes in my immediate area, sent reviews, helped me make tour appointments and was a calming and supportive presence when I really needed that. Although we'd lived in the same home for 45 years, entering the search for Assisted Living was a whole new world and I was not aware of several of the homes on Connie's list. My husband is now settling in to a beautiful facility 3.5 miles from home that I wouldn't have found without a Place for Mom. Thank you, Connie!
Meredith was exceptionally helpful throughout the entire process. She was always available to answer questions and concerns and willing to jump into a more proactive role as needed and requested. She certainly made the experience of locating an appropriate community for my mom so much easier than it would have been on my own. Thank you for everything, Meredith!
A Place for Mom was incredibly responsive. They reached out the first day I contacted them, assessed my needs and gave me four suggestions that day for places that fit my budget. I contacted two of the place that same day, and within two weeks had settled on a place. My Mom moved in last week and the place exceeds our expectations. A Place for Mom was there the whole time, following up after my visits and sending me helpful information about the move.
Called and got four appointments within hours to tour Memory Care Centers in the area. Added more as time went on and they were examples of different types of facilities which let us understand what was out there and varying costs. Also provided with several emails containing helpful information about different aspects of the process of finding the right place along with overall planning aspects.
Not only did they let me know about several places that met and even exceeded my criteria, they helped me know how to negotiate and get better deals. They walked with me every step of the way.
The agent is worked with, Rebecca Chamberlain, was kind and understanding. She helped me navigate a very stressful trail to find my sister just the right place... I appreciate so much A Place for Mom. They strive for quality as well as the right fit.
A place for Mom was so helpful! I didn't have a clue where to begin. They lead me through the whole process from start to finish and I am very grateful for them. I would highly recommend that service to anyone.
My advisor, Sean Hutchinson went above and beyond to listen to my concerns. He promptly sent me multiple places to visit and the service also provides for on line appointments. The attentiveness saved me a lot of time and footwork that I would have had to do on my own.
Kristin Howard is the best coordinator to work with! She made finding a facility for my husband very easy. Kristin set up appointments for my son & I to visit various facilities. The facilities she chose were all top notch. After the visit she helped coordinate various other items making it a very simple process to get me husband settled in.
This was so easy! I had one initial conversation with my Place for Mom counselor and we had a list of places to visit that met our criteria. They set up our first visit with an interesting home during that first conversation. The home followed up with us, confirming the appointment. This was so different from my earlier approach where I called places one at a time, only to find the cost was too high, or there was a waiting list, etc. We immediately found the right home for my sister. She is moving in this week.
After describing my needs, I was given a list of places to visit that met those requirements. After just visiting the first place, I made a commitment! The place is perfect for my sister and she is very happy there!
My step-dad was diagnosed with kidney failure and was hospitalized with no prior kidney issues. It was quite a shock to find out how sick he was. He could not go home after his hospital stay as his dementia worsened and he needed rehab to gain strength and ended up in a rehab situation in a nursing home facility. It wasn't the best place but there was an opening for his rehab when he was released from the hospital. Upon release from this facility he was tested for 4 1/2 hours for his dementia issues and the results were he could not live alone anymore. At that point I desperately needed to move him into another facility. I found "A Place for Mom". What a lifesaver! They helped with finding him the best facilities for his situation. I actually had 3 facilities to choose from. I moved him weeks ago. The care and the food is amazing! I was able to decorate his room with his military photographs and items he had collected during his service. He was so excited when he saw his room! It made the transition so much easier for him when he saw his military items in his room. I cannot thank "A place for Mom" and their representatives enough for all of their help with finding the right place for him.
I would highly recommend them!
Thanks You So Much!
My 95 year old mother-in-law fell again five months ago, but this time the amazing 911 team couldn't get her standing up again. A trip to the ER helped us decide that it was time for her to leave her home and move to an assisted living facility. We went to Google…there are no Apple to Apple comparisons on the internet. Then, I literally stumbled upon APFM. They listened and put all of our mother's needs from geographic location, incontinence care, medicine supervision, socialization, affordability, etc. into their algorithm and recommended six facilities. We were assigned a specialist, Christy, who knew that area, and we were home free. By decision time, we had three #1 choices. I highly recommend this business to help anyone to find place for their loved one.

Answer: In the Greater Louisville (Kentuckianna) metro area there are several I can recommend you consider based on our tour of recommended facilities in Southern Indiana. As residents of Southern Indiana, just across the river from Louisville, we chose Silvercrest in New Albany Indiana. They offer independent living in freestanding apartments as well as assisted living and also more complete care for those needing it. We also really liked Traditions at Hunters' Station in Sellersburg which has identical options, and Bennett House in Clarksville, which offers assisted living and additional services but does not have independent living. Some of these do have limited Medicaid beds in their nursing facilities.
