Why don't they just shut it down? I go there out of habit and then just feel awful when I remember the days when it was absolutely the best. It still has a button to subscribe. I can't imagine why I would do that again. All it does for me now is tell me the temperature and a few things that I can get anywhere.
I'm not sure if they loaded it up with so much ads and bloat or what, but 95% of the time I can't even get access to anything but the screen with the logo. They've ruined what I thought was the best weather app out there. Anyone have a recommendation for something else that has the ability to check the weather in places not tied to where I am with anywhere near the geographic specificity WU used to have?
Adding information or functionality to a website can be a good thing. But making it more difficult to get information or removing functionality is certainly not as the Weather Underground's most recent site redesign clearly demonstrates. When bureaucrats are involved, you can never get things restored, but PLEASE at the very least put the current conditions and the 10-day graph back on the same page (non-mobile).
WeatherUnderground used to be the leader. They have removed most of their distinguishing features recently. So sad to see what has happened. Not sure they have a plan either. Recently they had almost half of their home page replaced with an ad. There is either desperation or poor leadership at work.
Again very sad. Should you have a personal weather station, I recommend you look for another place to which to send your data. I am not sure I would rely on your data to be there next month.
Weather.com is SO 2000-and-late. Enter Wunderground, or Weather Underground, which gives you everything you will ever want to know about the weather, including earthquake activity, air quality, astronomy, sports weather, etc. In my opinion, it is also more accurate than other weather sites, and there are live updates from weather stations all over your city, so you can always consult with other sources. If you look up The Mission, San Francisco, it even says "The Mission- Even the Weather is Hip." Now that's cool.
The new redesign is awful in so many ways I can't even begin to describe them all. Whoever was in charge of this project should be fired. The responsive design is done very poorly, the site is slow and bloated. All the useful features removed, WTF were they thinking.
I previously posted a review on my disappointment with the new WU UI about 3 weeks ago unitl now. Most of the UI features that were lost, like rapid fire, are back. Appreciate the work put into this updated release and my previous one star review now a four.
Now my favorite cities list has been changed by WU. I did not initiate this action. It also won't let me go back to "my" list. They keep putting other cities and omitting my names. I've had it with this company but where else can I upload my weather station to view it online? I am so frustrated with high tech.
This site makes no sense now. I've used it for years and has been reliable and efficient. It's as if a beginning class on website design took it over to practice without supervision. There are no comparable alternatives to what this site had been: a one-stop site for 10-day, hourly, radar, wind, precip, cloud cover, and astronomical info. How very sad!
I used to be able to glance at a nice 10-day forecast table and see all of the information of interest at a glance. Now the interface defaults to a 2 day mess. I can not find a way to configure information as a default. Heck I cant even tell what the accumulated snowfall is. Guess the data is missing. So many things were ruined. Time to move on. Looks like a bunch of folks are doing the same. Do they even care?
Thousands of pilots and marine operators across North America relied on Intellicast for up to date and accurate weather information. This change is endangering people's lives.
"Wunderground" Now there is a misnomer, if I have ever seen one! Intellicast maps on this site are so out of date as to be essentially useless. The people responsible for this should be dragged up in front of congress to answer for their actions!
The constant loading and reloading of different ads completely overwhelms a modest connection speed.
On Chrome browser, the effort of page loading causes high CPU temperatures necessitating fan operation and overall slows responsiveness of the computer.
Reloading continuously causes the page to bounce around as new ads are loaded.
Looking at page refresh at the bottom left of the page shows all the analytics, tracking, and ad loading.
Shame that the site is so compromised. The advertising is too much. Cannot use and will look elsewhere therefore nullifying the advertising effort.
Wunderground used to be the best - and then they started going downhill, and they have reached absolute rock bottom now... from their outrageously SLOW server, to their new absurd format, and the final straw they have DELETED all my favorites and there is no way to reload them... they won't even answer email queries - all they're interested in is you clicking on their site so they can collect from the advertisers... i'm looking elsewhere for my weather forecast now...
Havent been able to load 10 day foreacst for over a week... cant pick up local weather, everything in F cant access settings to change to C... what was a great site now rubbish.
Have to add this was on chrome. Changed to explorer and all works fine...
Weather Underground used to be my go-to weather App. Now it's so annoying and frustrating to use I don't even want it anymore. It's hard to read, and impossible to decipher rain times and wind speeds at a glance. You have to go to the annoying charts and scroll up and down to find the corresponding time. Ugh. They ruined a perfectly good App.
I can't pull up my station half the time and the change station does not work - keeps coming back to a default station that is miles from my home, the ten-day requires me to move from the main page instead of a simple scroll down, etc. Ditto to all the other recent posts.
Used to be the best weather application and website out there. Since the Weather Channel bought it it's been going downhill steadily. Radar has stopped loading correctly, sometimes the app would tell you you were offline when you were online, and now it's finally completely down. The weather channel is slowly strangling Wunderground because they know they could never make a product as good as it and they want people to pay for much less than they were getting for free.
We've used WU for quite some time now because we loved it. The new changes are not as user friendly for quick viewing of weather. It stood out above the other sites before, all the same now.
Not Happy...
Intellicast was my go-to site for weather for a couple of decades. Wunderground was not bad--they were the only site to have good hurricane track models. Now Intellicast with it's excellent maps, forecasts, and historical data is gone, and Wunderground is awful. It's unbelievable how badly IBM can foul things up. Epitome of FUBAR.
Won't load or loads then disappears. Logout and login seemed to help. Always seems slow. Even with a paid no advertising subscription, it seems like it downloads all the ads and then doesn't display them. It isn't any faster. I've tried other weather sites and like this one the best, but can't get it to work now.
Answer: This was deliberate calculated sabotage for some reason
Answer: It won't come back. IBM bought The Weather Company to get at the data so they could package and sell that to their corporate customers using their "Watson" cloud services. Individuals mean nothing. That they've managed to so thoroughly destroy what was once the premiere weather site says a lot about the incompetence behind their core "Watson" products. You might want to tell IBM that.
Answer: They hired a bunch of idiots to manage and design their new site. This included removing features and gutting the radar.
Answer: Yes. We have many employees who come to work each day desperate to appear productive and relevant. We ask them to destroy functional lean websites with bloated nonsense. Meanwhile, our executives require more money so we like to devastate communicative websites with ad-infested infestations of pus-riddled idiocy. Thanks for asking!
Answer: Pointless giving feedback/complaints. I tried this and got an automated reply telling me how much better it was!
Answer: Your local Tv station meteorologist.
