I am a current subscriber and have been reading the WSJ for decades, and not just from a business point of view. It is the only publication that presents current affairs in a intelligent, concise and often thought provoking manner on a consistent basis for me.
It's been a month I am still waiting my refund. I called 3 times and I have been told 3 times that we will refund your money and call you back in 1 hour. But no luck

The Wall Street Journal is the worst delivery service ever. I used to think the USPS was bad but the USPS makes the WSJ look like a little league team. I like my paper delivered to my house to read but the WSJ is so bad and does not follow up to my complaints to fix their delivery service. I highly recommend to NOT sign up for WSJ delivery as it is a waster of money. I have been complaining to the WSJ for a year now with no improvement. I just had 3 straight days of no delivery!
I was initially put off by some of the critical reviews here, but ended up trying the Kindle edition out when I had problems with my home delivery. I'm glad I did. The Kindle edition is well worth it.
Remarkably dirty business practices if you try to cancel your subscription. Requires a phone call, being on hold for 20 minutes, and then in my case the service representative would not cancel right away. They asked multiple times why I was canceling, attempted to offer my a reduced price, told me my subscription was still good for three more weeks, and would not state to verify that my subscription was cancelled when I asked them to verify that, until I threatened to file a complaint with my credit card company. REALLY! I kid you not!
You can't be in business and not read the Wall Street Journal - I'm a doctor, and I have my own medical practice. But for anyone who owns a business, I do not know how they can rationally not subscribe to the Wall Street Journal. For under $100 you get the best business coverage anywhere. It could be that one article you read once in your life about the economy that helps you to make a smarter business decision that could easy make you tens of thousands of dollars if not more.
I know people have complained about the Journal's redesign. But I like it. It's easier to read online now, and there are more interesting aticles. Don't leave home without it.
Customer service was absolutely horrid to deal with. I called and spoke to Joshua at approximately 4:40 PM EST. I informed him that I wanted to cancel my subscription.
Instead, he informed me that WSJ does not cancel subscriptions; that he could only change my date of 'subscription renewal'. I told him to stop giving me the runaround, but her persisted to not help me and, instead give me the option to either continue my subscription or possibly change to another subscription type. This phone call went on like this for 20 minutes back and forth. I asked for his name so that I could report him and he would not give me this at first either. Afterward, he told me there was a survey at the end of the call which I was going to stay on the line for, but he hung up the phone on me immediately after to not get a bad review.
Joshua was absolutely terrible. I called back the customer service number and informed the lady of my needs and she helped me cancel my subscription immediately.
It was 1969. I was taking an economics course, and my professor told us to subscribe to the Wall Street Journal. I sent a request, and they started my paper. I got a computer-generated bill and sent a check back. A week later, another identical bill came. I politely told them I had already paid. A week later, another bill with a warning that I had to pay or my subscription would be cancelled. I sent another letter telling them I was being billed twice and their computer needed to be checked. I begged a human to read the letter. Then they discontinued it. I had no money to resubscribe, as my parents were stretched to the limit to provide college for me. I want my $5.00 back, plus interest from 1969. These uncaring corporate stooges never answered any of my letters. I'll never forget the helplessness I felt at not being able to afford to get the Wall Street "Urinal" Thanks for nothing.
I used United Airlines Rewards to start a WSJ print subscription because their website states that ALL print subscriptions get digital access for free. That is NOT TRUE. Their customer service rep said that third party subscribers don't get digital access. If that's the case, it should be stated on their website. Intentionally misleading! Will not continue subscription after this subscription period is over.
Be aware that the WSJ will ONLY let you cancel your subscription if you phone into their Customer Service line IN PERSON. You will wait for up to 30 minutes of awful hold music and then be asked a long list of questions. Then you will ask to cancel your subscription. But that person cannot help you. You will be put through to another department who will ask another long list of questions. It is an outrage that they will take your subscription money so easily but make it so difficult to cancel. Some might say this is smart business but it is really a very low and intensely annoying trick. Shouldn't the Journal be above this?
I signed up for a college paper and needed to cancel afterwards due to the fact that I did not have a use for it afterwards. Not only was it very difficult, time consuming, and hidden on how to cancel, but to cancel you have to call someone from 8-4 EST, and be put on hold forever. As a college student on the west coast, and pretty much everyone in America, I do not have enough time to sit on hold in the middle of my day just to cancel a stupid subscription.
I sold my house in May and cancelled my subscription by phone. The customer service representative put the full court press to put it on automatic renewal. I insisted that it be cancelled since I did not know where I was moving for delivery. Two days ago I received a notice via email that my delivery has resumed. I responded to this email that my subscription was cancelled in May. Keep in mind I no longer live in the house. The next day I get an email stating that I had to call customer service to cancel the subscription which I did in May. I called and had to speak with four different people in Bangladesh. In short they promised to email me a notice of cancellation. Still no email. I miss reading the WSJ which I think is the best daily publication, however they are strong armed and deceptive in their customer service and sales department. I have no email confirmation. I am done with this publication.
Don't subscribe unless you want to literally blow your brains out with frustration. The first phone announced a hold time of more than 30 minutes.
The second phone call I was on hold for 20 minutes, then 10 minutes to try to get me to keep the subscription, then five minutes to "register the cancellation".
35 minutes to cancel and no online ability to cancel. What a scam!
I signed up in response to a 'deal' in 2017, and found out after I signed up how much it actually will cost. I tried to cancel it according to the guidelines, but they did not accept them. Over the next 2 years, I found out it was the Wall Street Journal that continued to bill me over $40 a month, and they were using an email address connected to my account that did not exist - it was a typo! Now that this has officially been figured out, they refuse to refund me even close to a quarter amount of the money they took from me, using a false email!
I subscribed their service while they have the $12 for 12 weeks deal, but i never received the physical newspaper and the online account only worked for 1 week. Then when they try to renew and charge my for a whole year, i raised this issue. The solution is they can't make up the whole previous year but they extend my subscription for another 6 months, this is acceptable.
But my key point is, they didn't avoid to communicate, they are proactive and quickly responding, and they provide solutions for you to choose. So I really recommend them if you do need to subscribe business related newspapers.
They customer service deserves a applause with they proactivity and quick action.
Thanks
Boring content so I go online to try to cancel my subscription but there is no way to cancel online! I go to the online chat section where there is a help button for cancellation, but when I click that it says they can't help and that I have to call! So I call, but the message says "outside of normal business hours". WSJ is a lame scam. I'll just do a credit card chargeback instead. Avoid WSJ. Besides, the content is boring AF.
You have to call to cancel and they are very careful on making it as difficult as possible to cancel; hiding information about canceling, your account number, and contacting them directly.
Customer service is the number one part of any business reputation and they deserve 0.

I am usually seek to know business news and wsj.com is one my choices. The website updates every news around the business area and some common knowledge for the common people as well. Obviously, it's a good site to refer for stocks and other business news.
As others have mentioned, you cannot cancel your subscription without a phone call and when you do reach the person - they convince you to put the subscription on Hold - no cost to you. BUT after the 3 months hold, they restart the subscription with your credit card on file and you will see an unexpected charge and once charged, you cannot cancel. Can only wait until it expires. INSIST on cancelling your subscription and do not get "tricked" by the 3 month free period. Insist on the e-mail that shows you have cancelled it - if not, you will get an unexpected renewal charge.
