I'm so grateful for writeaprisoner! I have met many wonderful inmates that are ready to change their lives and take the next step to become better people. I've been able to help pen pals connect with attorneys and civil leaders, provide them with resources for the betterment of their future and preparation for release, as well as be another form of support as they complete their sentence. Writeaprisoner is a great platform for everyone!
My stepson is in a California prison and asked me to look into this site. Even though it had a search feature by sex, race, and location that listed prisoners by their last name, after 15 clicks it sent me to the Cs and back to the Bs, kept reverting to Hispanic instead of African American, and sent me to the state website to actually locate him. It's worthless.

I sent a month ago and did not receive any response. How do I know that the message has been received. Today I sent a message to another person and I hope next month I will find a reply. I wish I could write even once a week
Allowing people to write to as many people as possible! A site where people are taken advantage of, a site where your PP can have multiple pen pals while the felon can promise each the sun, the moon and the stars and when you are not at their beck and call they have a back up person to fill the void.

We do not and cannot limit the number of replies an incarcerated person receives while in prison. We do advise pen-pals against engaging in romantic relationships; instead, we encourage pen-pals to offer friendship and support.

I have never had a problem with this Writeaprisoners site anybody I have ever write I always got a reply back. The profile are great and there is tons of info on each prisoner. Someone should give it a try and wait for a response u won't be sorry u tried and it's a great way to write someone u don't know and meet new people. Alot of guys depend on this site for friendships or maybe romance.

There are many pages nowadays who invite you to write prisoners, this one is surely not the worst... You just have to be careful what you say and have in the back of the head that you might be scammed for money or even just entertainment.

If you want to find a friend to correspond with and give hope to, this is a good place. Don't get caught up in their drama, though. I prefer to write males on death row or who are doing life without parole. That way, I don't have to worry about them ever getting out, and they know I'm just a pen pal and not looking for romance.

We don't talk about what landed him in prison we talk about everything else possibly imaginable. Knowingly letting inmates place ads with old pictures, and knowingly advertising inmates that they know are scamming. Most of the inmates on here this it their platform to get you! Its a shame because their getting away with it, like its just such a nice thing to write someone locked up thats how u feel, but they are on here for a reason. About 80-90% of these inmates are on here to get money from women, and this company knows it, they charge them, make money off of scamming, they should be closed down! If you notice its the same inmates over and over no celebs inmates no inmates that have money or a family, just inmates that need money and dont't have families, the penpals will get left by women or men that leave them, then they have to place ads over and over!
They do it because they need money! Their are no inmates that have power just inmates with none its a scam i know first hand don't fall for the " i love you " after two weeks its impossible to love someone that quick!
They are trained at this and train young people to do what they do! See the same inmate over and over he's a con man point blank and bet your $#*! he does not look like the pic as advertised! You've been warned!
