Stay clear

Unlike the rest of the industry, you are charged for your car rental even if you NEVER PICK UP THE CAR.
I flew into Newark airport and attempted to pick up my rental to drive to a family wedding. I was told that my reservation had been made for the week before and had therefore expired. I would be charged regardless.
(I made the reservation over the phone and had no way to prove the error was not my own. I did not proofread my confirmation, a mistake that cost me over $1,000 dollars.)

I then tried to rebook a car at the counter, and the rate they quoted me was $900 more than the rate they were charging online!

Ripping people off may make sense in the short term, but is no way to build a company brand.

Would never use in the future.

I am really sorry to hear you could not pick up the car. The reason why our cancellation policy is so strict is because we are still charged by the car rental company if the car was picked up or not.

Please note that the supplier also has a No-Show policy stated on their Terms and Conditions (most of the suppliers) and they won't refund you past the cancellation window/pick-up time even if you made a pre-paid booking directly with them.

Unfortunately, I cannot go into details as I was not able to find your booking. If you need further assistance, please reach out to support@wisecars.com.

Worst ever!
August 23, 2021

We were planning an out of state memorial service for my mother in law. I went online to rent a car and when I realized we wouldn't arrive till the following day, I hit the back button to change the date which apparently changed the month also. Wisecars makes you wait for the confirmation so I did not see the error. My disabled Veteran husband contacted them and they refused to give us a refund or to change o ur reservation to August for the service. The Customer Service agent actually laughed about it a n d said he wasn't getting a car or a refund. They are thieves and have extremely poor customer service.

Great experience

I had a number of questions that needed assistance from the Wisecars customer support team. Their agent answered all my questions and she helped me change the pick-up time when my flight was delayed. Their customer support was top notch and their website was very user-friendly. I will use Wisecars again!

Beware Stay away
September 20, 2023

I rented a car and had to pay for it 6 months before our planned trip. They told me when I went to pick up the car that we could not take the car out of state and refused to give me the car. They are refusing to return my money. GO ANYWHERE ELSE.

Not Trustworthy

We have made multiple call, written emails, and still haven't received a refund for a car rental we never got. The rental company was out of cars, so had to rent elsewhere. We even had a 3 way conference call with wisecars and the rental company who verified cars were not available, and still no refund.

Flawless service

I recently used Wisecars for a long-distance trip, and I was thoroughly impressed with their service. From the moment I booked my ride to the time I reached my destination, everything went smoothly and seamlessly. First of all, the booking process was quick and easy. I was able to choose the type of car I wanted and specify my pick-up and drop-off locations. I appreciated the fact that I could book my ride well in advance, which gave me peace of mind knowing that my transportation was taken care of.

Scam Artists
January 15, 2023

Scam artists. Cancelled a rental on me because they would not accept my government issued drivers license when I went to pick it up. They insisted I would be refunded my $1700. After a week, I still hadn't been refunded so I called back and they said processing the refund was just taking extra time. So I waited a month, and called back, still no refund. They said keep waiting. I disputed the charge on my credit card to resolve the fraudulent charges. Six months later they snuck the $1700 charge back on my card, without contacting me. Reporting the fraud again, and writing to BBB. Not much more we can do to fight these corporate crooks, but I'm trying.

After checking your reservation, it seems Thrifty refused your documentation due to the fact that you presented a temporary license which expired before the scheduled drop-off date. It is stated on our Terms of Service that if you fail to present the necessary documentation at the pick-up, your reservation will be considered a No-Show and no refund will be issued.

As we understand that this is a very big inconvenience, we contacted the car rental company asking them to waive any No-Show fees so we could refund you. Unfortunately, they informed us they would charge us according to our contract.

We sincerely apologize for this issue but we cannot issue a refund in this case.

Run away from this agency.
They spoiled our holidays in the US. We rented a car at Laguardia airport using Wisecars service after waiting in line for more than an hour we were told that our European cards were not eligible to rent a car which is surprising because we previously rented cars from other rental agencies (Budget, Hertz and Avis) using the same payment methods... We called wisecars and we were shocked by the lack of cooperation/flexibility while trying to explain our situation. They keep saying that in the email it says to come with a "credit card" disregarding that in Europe the same card is used for Debit and Credit. We tried to explain that we used the same card for previous car rentals and they would not show any flexibility. In order to solve the situation we then ask to change the name of the driver and put another one who happens to have a US credit Card to be able to pick up the car and they refused, which we found surprising. We then asked to be refunded to be able to rent another car given the lack of flexibility, and they said they won't refund and one operator even hung up the phone, which I found extremely rude. They spoiled our gateway and I was shocked by the lack of client orientation, lack of solution oriented and lack of empathy. The real note I want to give here is zero but I'm only allowed to give one star. I will still fight to have my money back... It was my first experience with wisecars and obviously my last... I also warned my colleagues against using it! Just run away

Unfortunately, our suppliers cannot accept debit cards due to legal and security deposit constraints. Our family rents often, and we were finally ripped off! WISECARS and FOX Car Rental made us pay twice for a rental and conspired to make us upgrade our rental at 10 pm after a long flight. We asked FOX and WISECARS to consider refunding a portion of the deposit of $274.13 or the upgrade fee of $571.00. We paid this amount for a one-week rental of an STD SUV. All of our searches when we arrived at the hotel showed we could have rented that night for $430/wk. Now, both companies won't take accountability and correct the error. Be very careful as these companies are profit only and do not care about us as consumers. This should never be an issue when renting a car.

Please note that you accepted a price during the booking process and no refund can be done if the price changes when you look at the same offer once you have picked up the vehicle.

Clients are not required to upgrade for an extra charge at the pick-up if they arrive on time and their car is still available. After checking your booking, I can see that the car rental company confirmed that the booked category was available but you opted to take an upgraded vehicle.

Rented car for pickup at airport in Atlanta and when I got to counter Thrifty had no cars available. Told me to cancel through third party which i called immediately and they said it would be refunded. Since that time Wisecar has said its Thriftys issue and they cant issue refunduntil Thrifty can confirm i did not complete the reservation which they have done. Wisecar collected my money and should make the refund but is saying they dont have proof i didnt pick up car.

Scam!

I've concluded an online transaction with Wisecars, I've paid and received a confirmation with the total price clearly stated, as well as the remaining price to pay at zero… but 10 days later I've been contacted by Wisecars saying they've made a mistake in the price and I have to either cancel my booking or pay nearly double price, which is of course neither professional, nor legal.

As an update on Wisecars they're also now ignoring my complaint about the car at Fox Rental not being the car I reserved, or up to standard. Even though Wisecars took my money to hook me up with Fox Rental, their staff are telling me to contact Fox Rental myself over the issue! Can you believe the audacity of that? It's a company they use and charge me for using them, yet when there's issues they tell me to sort it myself as they say Fox haven't replied. No "We'll chase it up sir" but instead "We've had no reply, try contacting them yourself". It's a truly disgusting way to treat a customer whose money you've taken and shows complete disregard for the satisfaction of the customer.

Avoid this company because as many reviews on many sites show, if you have any issues with your rental they just don't want to know because they have your money. Our entire trip to take a handicapped lady to Disney World was ruined because of the financial difficulties they put us in and they just don't care.
