Hello, recently for a trip to the United States I used the Wisecar application to rent a car.
Once I had chosen the car at a cost of €1,000 for 20 days, I paid and received a confirmation email.
About a week later I get an email saying:
* Your rental agreement may require you to have mandatory local insurance which may cause additional costs when picking up the car. We ask that you first check if you have insurance that you can use during your rental and if you also have the correct documentation confirming your insurance. Otherwise you will have to buy it when you pick up the car.
In this email, do not write an insurance price range, but say that there may be something to pay for the insurance.
Once in Los Angeles, I go to the agency to pick up the car and find out that the insurance costs $1,600, more than the cost of renting the car.
Since Wisecar is an intermediary between the rental company and the user… therefore in practice it offers the same service that a site like BOOKING could offer, it should communicate the cost of insurance before charging the rental and not after, because honestly if had I known in advance that the cost would have been 1000€ + 1600$, I would have + not rented the car and I would have opted for another choice.
Why are you behaving this way?
Because by not communicating the price of the insurance they are able to compete with serious rental agencies that communicate the price in advance.
Among other things, the agency that was proposed to us by WISECAR is called Rental Fox.
Trying to rent directly from rental Fox you will be notified of the cost of the insurance and it will be communicated before payment and not after.
After writing to the assistance service, I received a terrible answer stating that they had sent me the email where they wrote that there could be an insurance cost. But without communicating even a RANGE!
And to think your company is based in San Francisco, so let's just say they should know how insurance works in the US.
In any case I'm proceeding both on TrustPilot, and I'm proceeding with the application deletion request both on the Apple Store and on Google Play.
You will also be contacted shortly by the Italian Other Consumer portal to proceed against you.
I've already written to the assistance service, who has the courage to answer me that I had to call to find out the price of the insurance.
But which company are you? On the site you don't even dare to put the surname of the founders of the company.
But don't be ashamed to do these TRICKS to be able to compete with the serious rental companies that communicate the final price before the purchase, but you don't communicate it afterwards either.

Wisecars are common scammers. They accept debit card payments and we found out at the airport that we can't pick up the car because we have to pay extra money and it can only be done with a credit card, which we didn't have. Our friend wanted to pay with his credit card, but they refused us, saying that they don't have the same name and surname. He also could not be added as a co-renter of the car because we are not a family. As a result, the lady told us that she wrote a note that we did not give up renting a car, and that she only transferred it to another person with a credit card, and the money would be returned to us. This was done by informing Wisecars of this fact. First we were told they would take 10% of the money, then 50%, and finally all of almost $500 because we didn't keep the terms of the contract. We were suggested to bear the legal consequences because they sent vouchers with information. For me, a voucher is associated with something that the company wants to give me, not inform about details of rental. They should not charge a debit card when booking. The transaction should be rejected immediately. Unfortunately, the company takes money by cheating the client, and then claims that the client is guilty because he did not read the terms of the contract. Not everyone is fluent in English. They scavenge on such people. They're common scammers. You need to stay far away from this company. I warn everyone. They are common thieves. Nobody gives anything for free.

Firma Wisecars to zwykli oszuści. Przyjmują płatności kartą debetową, a na lotnisku okazuje się, że nie możemy odebrać samochodu, gdyż trzeba dopłacić pieniądze, a można to zrobić tylko kartą kredytową, której nie mieliśmy. Nasz przyjaciel chciał zapłacić swoją kartą kredytową, ale odmówili nam twierdząc, ze to nie jest to samo nazwisko. Nie można go było także dopisać jako osobę współwynajmującą samochód bo nie jesteśmy rodziną. W rezultacie pani powiedziała nam, że napisze adnotację, że my nie zrezygnowaliśmy z wynajmu samochodu tylko przeniesie to na inną osobę posiadającą kartę kredytową, a pieniądze nam zwrócą. Tak też uczyniono informując o tym fakcie firmę Wisecars. Najpierw powiedziano nam, że zabiorą nam 10% sumy, potem 50%, a na koniec wszystko prawie 500 dolarów, gdyż nie dotrzymaliśmy warunków umowy. Sugerowano nam poniesienie konsekwencji prawnych, gdyż oni wysyłali vouczery z informacją. Dla mnie vouczer kojarzy się z czymś, co firma chce mi dać a nie o czymś poinformować. Przy rezerwacji powinii nie pobierać opłat z debet karty. Tranzakcja powinna być odrzucona od razu. Niestety firma bierze kasę oszukując klienta, a potem twierdzi, że klient jest winny bo nie doczytał warunków umowy. Nie każdy biegle włada językiem angielskim. Oni na takich ludziach żerują. To zwykli oszuści. Z daleka trzeba się trzymać od takiej firmy. Ostrzegam wszystkich. To zwykli złodzieje. Nikt nikomu nie daje nic za darmo.
Nie korzystaj z tej firmy Wisecars jeśli nie chcesz stracić swoich pieniędzy. To zwykli oszuści. Nigdy nie będę korzystała z usług tej firmy.
Brak możliwości wynajęcia samochodu mimo dokonania wpłaty kartą debit. Byłam zmuszona wynająć samochód na kolegę posiadającego kartę kredytową. Nie dostałam zwrotu kosztów. Firma zabrała mi wszystkie wpłacone pieniądze mimo iż tranzakcja nie doszła do skutku nie z mojej winy. Ja chciałam zapłacić resztę pieniędzy. Niestety forma odmówiła realizacji rezerwacji samochodu. Wykorzystują fakt, że nie wszyscy mówią biegle po angielsku.

An elderly couple (aged 73-76) arrived at the Cancun airport after an 11 hours flight, expect to get a car from Nü carrentals, booked through WISECARS.
Deviating from the rental agreement (in the conditions called deposit $500 and I can prove this!). Entered into with additional insurance.
At the desk of Nü carrentals, $ 8,000 ( eight thousand) and I can prove this!) was demanded as a deposit or no car, shame on you
Scandoulos treatment reported to WISECARS and………….
To date after 11 days no solution offered by WISECARS.
11 days into our planned vacation nothing happened and our planned tour through Ycantan failed.

Dear " Wise" Cars,
It is not a " wise " decision to rent a car through you, Outrageous
I have been renting rental car from many brookers for decades and several times a year Worlwide, but what i experienced now is the first time!.
Arrived at Cancun terminal 4 after a 12 hour international flight, no one present not even at indicated agency sides transport taken to terminal 2. Wanted, looked at Welcome Bar and Grab and Go, nobody present, asked around, you have nowhere in your emails localtelephone numbers, finally found someone who contacted Infinity rental / Nu rental/ Aero car rental and after 30 minutes a half Van came, missed 2 windows and we drove to AirPort rental. On arrival, the appearance of this company was just as shabby as the transport to the location.
Pasport, driver's license, credit card and booking details given. Waited 15 minutes for people to finish filling out forms.
Now 2 hours after arrival I got the message that I had to leave 180 000 peso's or $8000 (eight thousand dollars) via my credit card deposit.
I. have been renting from brookers for decades and the security deposit was varying between $600 and maximum $1600. I was perplexed!. I showed that I have taken out additional insurance with you. No pardon price deposit is 180 000 pesos - $8000 or no car!
After deliberation and tired of the trip, i accepted, but credit card refused to accept this amount. I showed them that there was more than enough space on the credit account and that there was a communication problem. After at all I was glad that the agreement did not go well.
I no longer trust this company!
Now the problem I am i in Cancun i have paid deposit and no car. Always went well, worldwide, never caused or received damage, always rented from brokers, always extra insurance. Never a problem ( Rentalcars, doyouSpain, Eassyterra etc)
First time with you Wisecars, paid in advance + extra insurance, Never received information about this outrageous amount of the deposit from the rental compagny, I would will send a voucher from you, never received it, only a confirmation of booking. With the notificaties that the confirmation is not the voucher.
Now the problem for us;
Paid part of rentalcar and never or used "Excess Protection "for damages Euro 223,45 and no car.
This is a very bad start to the holiday and I think this is also not your intention to do business.
I want compensation for this damage and loss of holiday joy, in any case a refund of Euro 223,45. And new contract for 31 days, normal brooker price without this kind of surprises and misinformation and experience,

Do not use WISECARS, their are many good brookers like, Rentalcar, Sunny carrental, DoyouSpain, car rental.com etc.
