I was paying $60 per month for their premium service, I just received notice 2 days before my next payment that they were increasing my premium subscription price to about $129.95 per month. (I cant recall the exact pennies). The only notice I got on the price increase was when I clicked to log in. Holy heck, honestly? I used their service for research in genealogy and for family reunion updates and for looking up classmates for a large school class. After doing reviews of other search websites, I will find another website for people lookup.
ALSO, a year ago whitepages.com used to include email addresses associated with a person, they state this is included with their subscription, but I havent seen a email listed on a search request for over 6 months.
Somehow whitepages.com started charging my credit card. When I tried to log in or change a password, it says the account is disables. They have NO phone number to call them, as the one listed online (800 area code) is missing a number at the end of it. How convenient. They list every number on the planet, but don't have to list theirs. They also have a 206 area code number and when you call, they ask for the extension. If you try to hit 0, they hang up on you. These people are beyond sleazy!
Almost $20 for a single background report and all I received was an address that I already had. Pointless waste of money! I'll be sure to spread the word!
This $#*!ing dogs! Are SO FAKE! We should reppport and sue them! This dogs! Whoever have used this whitepage by paying a fee, knows what i am talking about, guys! Lets just repport this pigs!
I did background checks on myself and several people I know. I could not believe how they do the criminal part of the report. For every traffic ticket you have had or parking ticket. They will list it as a criminal offense. It gives the impression you have committed serious criminal acts when you only had a parking ticket over 10 years ago.
I have never been arrested and had only traffic tickets. White pages said I had 5 criminal offenes and 0 traffic tickets.
These companies should be sued for defimation of character. It doesnt matter if some one committed armed robbery, murder or just had a simple parking ticket.
There all listed as criminal offenses.
We need to sue these companies
Whitepages claimed that I had a criminal history. I paid the one time fee to see what this was as I have never been arrested nor charged with a crime.
The report on me said it was a traffic infraction from 26 years ago. These charlatans even put the word GUILTY next to my traffic ticket!
This outfit is deplorable and GUILTY of circulating false and misleading information.
I use to love this site and I wrote reviews saying just how great they were. It was very informative and easy to go through. I was updated names on my school roster yesterday and after so many I was blocked unless I went pro. The way this site is now I wouldn't pay a penny a year. Just read the reviews. Mama always said "If it's not broke don't fix it" The new CEO apparently didn't know about that little trick. I use to tell everyone about the good this site was. Now I'll tell everyone how bad it is.
The information available on Whitepages and other like (parasitic) services is publicly available. They take that information, transform it, and turn traffic infractions into "potential" criminal offenses in order to strike fear and paranoia into the hearts and minds of honest people (who become terrified that their identities may have been stolen, etc.) in order to stimulate a "membership" purchase. Beyond the bogus traffic-to-criminal misrepresentations in the "report" there's enough recon information to make an easy target of anyone. Time to file a class action lawsuit against WhitePages and others.
I wanted to get information on my brother that I have not had contact with in over 30 years, after paying I kept getting diverted to information on my wife. Don't waste your time with this site.
Not worth the money. They changed my service from $29.00 to $69.99 overnight! They claim they have added more services, but none are services I would use, especially since the "added" services are items that should be included for the 29.99 price to make it worth it. This company is sketch! Very little info included in the subscription pricing. I will definitely find a better product elsewhere as there are many to chose from.
I accidently viewed this website and look for my personal information. Surprisingly, it showed that I have a "criminal record" on my background. I knew it was not accurate. I called them and they promised to remove it in 24 hours. I also requested them where they collected this information and how to guarantee the accuracy of those personal information. What my "criminal record" is, and where they collected this information. No further response any more. But they deleted after 3 days.
For interest, I searched my wife's name. It appears again there is a "criminal record". I knew that was a mistaken again. I asked the whitepages, I will have the same story.
I understand they collect personal privacy through internet. But sell those information, especially wrong information makes me real unhappy. It looks like they can add" criminal record" on your background. In future, I'm wondering if others can pay money, the whitepages will help you delete the "criminal record".
Shame on whitepages.
Completely bogus information, I never had a criminal record, they showed one, never being married, they showed me divorced, as I said, completely erroneous information, this web site is a scam, not trustworthy source of information at all!
Claim to have transparent pricing; however they have been charging me for months for a supposed "one time fee" of $9.99 without our agreement and disclosure. When I contacted the customer service, they were uncooperative and refused to remove the fees. Do not ever use this service.
Shows "1 criminal record" on every single person that is looked up... and I know for a fact, none of these people have a criminal record! Falsifying records for an online public page should be a criminal offense. It's free public information, a street address should not be so hard to get, much less pay for.
Ridiculous.
I have tried to pay my bill 3-4 times, including trying to pay with a card over the phone and my payment is refused. I will never use them again.
I tried to remove my listing because it contained blatantly false information but was unable to do so as the url I had asked them to remove was denied as existing.
My main reason for wanting it removed was because they were claiming that I had a relative whose name I never heard of was resident at my address. The only residents at that address are myself and my wife.
YOUR SITE HAS CAUSED ME TO RECEIVE MANY SCAM CALLS DUE TO MY AGE.
I TRIED TO REMOVE IT BUT YOUR STUPID AUTOMATED OPERATOR KEEPS DENYING THE CODE YOU GIVE ME TO USE OVER THE PHONE. PLEASE, PLEASE, REMOVE MY INFORMATION FROM YOUR SITE. IF YOU REMOVE ME, THANK YOU
I wanted a single number & repeat monthly charges appeared on my credit card, it is a membership plan, not a single usage service. I am going tp put in the effort to reverse this charge from my credit card.
Don't be stupid & do what I did, run from this deceptive scam company.
Some people think they are going to get free basic information like from the phone book. Too bad they have to pay.
I needed one phone number and they said they had it. So i signed up for the $5. They had the number, but it was hidden unless i upgraded more. So i did. Then i was able to get the number. So i cancelled the membership. I received a cancellation letter. Then the next month they took money from my credit card. When i went in to the "dashboard" and attempted to remove CC info, I was unable to do so. SCAM!
Answer: No. The brain dead knuckle dragging thieves who run that shithole of a site couldn't program their way out of a bag of dog-dookie. Idiots.
