I accepted an offer of a 20-percent discount to join Voice123, which took $79 off the full rate. However, accepting the discount also disqualified me from cancelling after 30 days, as allowed with payment at the full rate. Sorry to say, I have wasted my money and my time. Invitations to submit auditions apparently are based on the number of job offers and "likes" a voice actor receives from clients. In a curious twist, it seems that the more submissions you make that are not liked or accepted, the fewer invitations you receive. In other words, the more you try and fail, the fewer chances you're given to try again. I have received about a half-dozen invitations over the past few days, and most are for paltry sums or for voices that do not match my profile. (Recent projects request submissions from African Americans, which I am not, and from French speakers, which I am not). Had I paid the full amount, I would have cancelled. As it is, I am out $316 and no longer bother to submit proposals.
I only received invitations between 12am and 6am. When I reached out to their customer support, they claim this is when the auditions are being posted. This is absolutely not true. I've been in the industry over a decade and nobody wakes up in the middle of the night to post casting calls. The customer service agent Mariana argued with me and said this is indeed what is going on, casting agents wake up in the middle of the night to post auditions.
Since I am not okay with being lied to in this degree, I opted to receive a full refund. I'll be joining a more professional VO website. Stay away from voice123 if you are a professional.
I got project invitation but I send the wrong project, so I contact the admin and they fix the problem and correct the project.
Simply put, I have built my successful VO business through connections I have made on Voice123. Through carefully curated auditioning and follow-up with clients secured on the platform, I have a healthy full time voice over business that I am proud of. My questions and concerns are addressed promptly and I am always satisfied with the results. Keep up the great work, V123!
I love that Voice123 is a facilitator. It connects you to clients and lets you run. Their support staff is very caring and genuinely cares about helping talent. I am glad I use Voice123 as part of my voice acting career.
I've had a lot of success using Voices.com so I thought I'd expand my market by signing up for Voice123. They're pretty much the same thing, right? Wrong. On Voices.com at the basic membership level, around $500 for the first year, you get a shot at pretty much every job that comes along. They send an email and the faster you reply the better your chances (in my experience).
On Voice123 for I signed up for the $888/yearly plan. Since there are higher payment levels what I've found is that by the time I get an email notifying me of a job it already has so many people who've already responded (the higher levels) that the chances of the job poster even listening to my audition is minimal, or sometimes the number of audition slots requested is filled up already even if I open the email immediately. The jobs that aren't filled are usually low paying or even NO paying (why would they even allow those kinds of jobs on their site?).
From a side by side comparison I'd say that the best return on your money is likely from Voices.com. I've made several thousand from that site so I don't think it's my skills or talent holding me back on Voice123. They protect their top payers, and I get that. But for the amount of money I'm spending I'm getting great results on Voices.com and after 4 months still no results on Voice123, mainly because the jobs that do filter down my way are so low paying they really aren't worth the time.
If you're new to VO and trying to figure out the industry and your "niche" I would recommend NOT using this website. It really only benefits top talent and people who have been in the business/acting long enough. Its quite unfortunate how the websites algorithm works. When you audition for a job, those clients ether "like" your proposal/audition or they don't. The more "likes" you get the higher your rating is on the website. The higher your rating % is, the sooner Voice123 sends you proposals to audition for. If your rating is high then you get first chance at auditioning or just a chance. You can also spend more $$$ on a higher membership to achieve this as well.
If you get no "likes" then your rating % goes down based on the number of proposal you submit to "likes". As your rating goes down, the later you get proposals. You might get proposals sent to you between 11pm - 5am and they only have 3 hour left until the project closes and the proposal quota is already filled. You can see how this could hurt new VO talent from growing. You also can not see if or which proposals clients "like" so you have no idea which direction to go in for performance. I myself was auditioning for everything and trying to see what stuck and what clients like. That hurt me in the long run. I was told that this industry is a number game. Voice123 disagrees and has all the leverage.
I imagine if you are top talent or know what you're doing, this website is for you. Just trying to save some time and cash to the new VO talent out there. Stick with Voices.com or the other p2p websites.
I am an actor and voice actor who has been subscribing to Voice123 since July 24 2006. From then until now (and throughout all the tough lockdowns here in the UK) I have been auditioning for (and booking some!) great jobs for companies located here, in Europe and in the US. The site makes submitting auditions simple, quick and very effective. Whenever I have had problems or queries, the Voice123 customer service has always been brilliant, providing prompt and helpful responses. I know from speaking to voice seekers that they also find Voice123's service very valuable - my Voice123 profile has even enabled some great companies to track me down and many remain valued colleagues to this day. I just signed up with Voice123 2 days ago so my only reference can be for the team that helped me with all my questions. Very grateful for the help!
If you are on the free plan you will be send "fulfilled" auditions by the Voice 123 team.
I just spend my sunday morning auditioning for a project that wasn't looking for voice actors anymore.
When you get send the project you will still be able to submit your proposal and only then will it tell you the job has been fulfilled.
This is time you spend recording you will never get back and a very $#*!ty way of trying to get you to pay for a plan.
As a full time professional, I appreciate Voice123 for their consistent audition opportunities, easy to use platform and excellent customer service. My booking rate and average rate paid is higher with Voice123 than with their main competitor and not having to give up 20% in "platform fees" is a huge plus.
As a voice-over talent, I've been actively using Voice123 for little over half a year now. During my time with the site, I've required the assistance of their customer support team on several occasions. The latest of these interactions had to do with the issuing out of a particular document on behalf of Voice123 to serve as proof of a financial transaction between the site and myself. As always, a dedicated customer support representative handled the request with utmost professionalism and in a timely manner. Their personalised approach transforms the dreaded ticketing process into an inclusive and user friendly experience. Both thumbs way up!
Voice 123 Support hung in there with me as I tried to resolve a recording issue, consistently excellent
As a newbie to voice talent work, I pulled the trigger on this particular P2P because they looked legit and got good reviews. And they offered $100 off! SoI've been using this site for 2.5 months and have peppered them with many, many questions. Fortunately, they've always had answers, or been open to suggestions. No issues, lots of help, some advice. And I've scored enough gigs to pay for the service, so there's proof Voice123 works.
I used Voice123 ten years ago, and it went very well. I tried it again this past week, and my project is "still being reviewed" after 4 days (they must not count weekends, so it totals 4). I wrote to them for help, and all I get is automated spam messages asking me if I 'still need help.'
I need a human. This is pointless.
I was on/off again with Voices123, as they were purportedly 'upgrading' their site platform. Whatever. Grew tired of emails for very last-minute animation and commercial 'auditions' that closed within 6 hours (true story) So I spammed them so I wouldn't have to deal with the junk. Just recently decided to log back in to see if anything had changed or improved since Dec 2022. NOPE. Upon editing the samples in my profile, the pages wouldn't respond, or kept giving me errors stating something had moved, or was no longer an option. Wth. Okay... I am permanently done with Voices123 as no one at the wheel. Whatever. Their loss.
I had a urgent question regarding a technical problem that was affecting an audition, so I chatted online with Reece who was very friendly and very helpful! The issue was then resolved very quickly and he even emailed me to let me know.:-) Thanks Voice 123!
This freelance platform tries to scam you by forcing you to pay a membership if you want to submit a proposal EVEN IF YOU'RE DIRECTLY INVITED BY A CLIENT. It's absurd.
I started my VO career on Voice Bunny so I learned to work quick, jump on opportunities as soon as possible and produce a high quality product. I do well on VB and am proud of my work. Voice123 is not the opportunity you think it is. Here are my main points of contention: 1) It's expensive to join. I spent $395 on a "premium" membership. Sometimes I will go a week or more without an invite to audition... 2) You will work your mic off for no money. I have spent 6 months reading/editing auditions and I try to submit 8-10 auditions a week if possible. I have never received one reply, not even from the dozens of "zero budget" jobs they keep sending my way. 3) The odds of "winning" a job are infinitesimal because of the way the site is set up. Often jobs will want 20 applications (so your odds are 20:1 of getting the job) then it will allow 30 or more submissions after the initial 20 spots have been filled. Very frustrating. 4) They have NO support or assistance program. Your on your own... good luck.
I could keep going, but I think you understand.
Overall I would say stay away from this site. Use your money for a better mic or flyers to hand out at the mall, you'll get more work that way.
I tried it out for a month and most invitations I received wanted me to do work free of charge. That is a hard pill to swallow when I just paid over $300 on their Bronze Plan to make a living. I had received 66 invitations and my profile appeared 2 times in the Voice123 search. So spending over $300 for a membership includes a profile search of ONLY 2 times? They also told me If I was a Premium member, I could have received 209 invitations and appeared 69 times in the search instead. Just greed to get you to buy a more expensive membership. I ended up requesting my 30 day money back guarantee which I did receive promptly.
