I moved to a new address where service is not available and was assured the contract would be terminated. They have been harassing me for a year about payments and just took money out of my account without authorization. The salesman promise the world but are just college students you will never see again. The people I talk to speak English when they want something and pretend not to understand you when they are tired of talking. Good luck if you buy from them. The contract never ends.
This company has several hidden fees they don't tell you about and have been charging us services fees for something that was supposed to have been cancelled over a year ago. I have no access to my account anymore so I have to take their word for what the charges are vs seeing documentation. Customer service has given us the run around for 2 days while holding our account in limbo and still active.
My Vivint main panel plug melted from inside, almost starting fire. I had to wait 2 weeks for appt to change out plug. Tech appeared to be in a huge hurry and did not plug in the back up battery in Panel. Called customer service immediately. They could not send tech back. Next appt was 1 week out. So, I'm angry they did not fix it completely. So now the total time will be 3 weeks without security. I found no one who cared out of the 4-5 people I was transferred to over 1 + hour. Got disconnected and they did not call me back. I had no desire to start the 1 hour transfer to other depts game. Guess I'll be looking for a new system: I have had Vivint for years but would not recommend. Worst customer service ever.
This company takes full advantage of "once your in, you are not getting out". They also take advantage of the elderly. My mother, who is 91 was just charged $2000 for an upgrade to 2028! Vivint also persuaded her to put it on a loan from Vivint! She is now paying $79/month. To stop contract she must pay $570 to complete the line of credit and $550. For the remainder of the loan! But doesn't get service. STAY AWAY FROM VIVINT
They tricked me and on other person that was gonna take over the cameras into both paying for the service and cameras. I asked to listen to recordings where I called 5 times asking to cancel my account. They finally a year later cancelled it but not before taking money out of my account. Do not go with this company they are awful.
Have not had a good experience at all.
The salesperson came over and misquoted my system (quoted low, ended up double the price).
Then they promised that my existing sensors would work. They didn't and now I'm without door sensors on two doors.
Cannot get a call back when I call Vivint, and finally, I discover today that there's no desktop access to the cameras and system.
If I could go back I'd have stayed with ADT. I am paying double the price for half the service and can't get a call back. Definite buyer's remorse.
If you are looking for a good home security system this is not the one stay clear of these guys they will promise you the world and do nothing for you but if You Like getting ripped off and Given away your hard earned money. Then you should definitely go with these people. They did not do anything for me and my wife. But damage are home drew holes in the wall and never came back to fix them Worst company on the planet.
I don't have a Vivint system and never will. Their sales rep just pounded on my front door multiple times at 9:30 at night expecting me to answer and discuss security systems. I don't think so. He's lucky I didn't call 911.
I regret leaving my previous company to switch to vivint. It took two weeks for my home to be protected after the initial install. A year and half later and significant cost for equipment. I have nothing but issues. I am constantly reaching out to text support which non of them ever know how to resolve your issue. They try to send a tech so that can charge you $99.00 just for the visit. Or they want you to pay a monthly fee so that it doesn't cost $99 for each visit. How about this Vivint…stop selling and installing cheap crappy equipment that requires to be replaced every few months. This company is horrible and for the cost of the equipment you would think you get the white glove service. Not! And never happening. I would strongly recommend to look the other way if you're searching for an alarm company. Once I pay off the equipment I am leaving vivint forever and make it my mission to share my experience!
This company smells and reek of fraud, their business practice is basically $#*!ty. In 2018, when I bought my townhouse I signed up with them for home security, transaction with them was okay until I sold the house in 2020 and canceled the account with them. That was when the nightmare starts.
I paid the cancellation fee, etc. Then months after, to be more precise I started getting calls from them in January 2021 that I didn't close the account ‘properly' and that am still owing some money. I was perplexed. What does close an account properly means? And if there was an issue with closing the account properly why is that my problem?
Anyway, I started getting barrage of calls from them. And a few days ago they took the case to debt collectors and now am owing $1564. 84. It seems the public have no protection against fraudulent practices by companies like Vivint. Warning to the public - avoid them like a plague.
So on today August 27,2022 I received in the mail... correspondence from a collection agency indicating that I owe Vivint $234.10 and $823.52 to the darn collection agency for a grand total of $ 1,057.62. These people are completely out of their minds (in my opinion) at this point!
So I paid off the 4k worth of equipment (upgraded to the existing equipment when I purchased the home) and cancelled the monitoring service. Only to find out two days later that the equipment cannot be used outside of Vivint. Called the customer service number only to be advised that I still have a balance due and owing for monitoring service. I cancelled the service IN WRITING back in February of this year and was still being billed up until this month August 2022. I'm watching my credit fervently to make sure these jokers don't sent that erroneous balance to the credit reporting agencies. The customer service personnel finally admitted that their equipment is not useful to any other monitoring service. Now I'm on the hunt for software that may be able to be used so that I can access these cameras remotely when I'm not at home. This is the ABSOLUTE worst decision/purchase I've made since purchasing my home. If there was an option to rate VIVINT a negative -10, I would yet still not recommend.
The camera's have a short range and worse at night. They have missed capturing people. Have had to reset the equipment several times in only two weeks. The technician has shown up hours late for every appointment.
When the sales man came they made lots of promises. Things like amount per month, FREE equipment, etc then went back on their word. After fighting over 8 months finally got a supposed credit to our account that paid the equipment amount. When we had to update our credit card info they no longer paid our equipment, the equipment company wanted to take us to collections. When calling to figure things out they said they had no documentation saying any of this. SAVE your money and sanity go with someone else. Their equipment also broke and didn't work properly.
Their equipment works fine I guess but god forbid you want to cancel your monitoring service. They will make it as painful as possible. I've spoken to five different departments in three different countries and am still on hold after paying the equipment buyout and the contract buyout. It should be illegal.
Absolute garbage of a company!
From faulty equipment having to be replaced within a few months (I had to pay a call out fee) to equipment being installed incorrectly (which I also had to pay a call out fee). Alarm would randomly go off. Automated doors would work when they felt like it and thermostat that would not change when using the app. Tie this all in to at least an hour long call, anytime you need assistance. Then you'll need a translator because when you do get a hold of someone, they can't understand you and vice versa. Should have read reviews before messing with this overpriced "company"
Salesman kept knocking despite having signs saying "no sales." They insisted i needed to sign up for their program because the had celebrity endorsement. They then refused to take no for an answer until I shut the door in their face. I have never done business with this company and never will.
Watch. Out with kind of company who they lie to customers I bought the equipments for 3000 and now I want them to give the app to monitor myself but I have to pay 37 dollars every month or my equipment won't work
Before you except their offer check on the reviews and how many lawsuits they have
Prices increased during agreement which is a violation of agreement. Someone at the company forged my signature on a new contract. Equipment stopped working during agreement period and they want to charge 100 to come fix it (again not in the agreement) countless hours with their customer service and legal team and still nothing is corrected. Same issues
I know nothing about technology and this system is very easy to use. It is basically all connected to your phone so you can even change settings while away from the home. My installer, Nick, is the only one I will work with. He is definitely worth the wait. He is knowledgeable about all the equipment and knows the best way to set things up. He is very clean and never leaves a mess when installing. Customer service is not always available but when it is they are very helpful.
My experience in dealing with vivint has not been positive. They have high pressure sales staff, premium priced equipment and monitoring, and my experience with customer service is as bad as I have ever experienced. When you sign a contract with them, it is for five years. If you need to end your contract prior five years, you must pay off the remaining equipment balance (which is reasonable) and then they want 50 percent of your remaining monthly service fees for not providing any service. I would not recommend using them for home security.
Answer: No my car got broken into in my driveway and they said their systems were down during that time and were unable to retrieve footage.
Vivint has a rating of 1.1 stars from 408 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Vivint most frequently mention customer service, security system and year contract. Vivint ranks 165th among Home Security sites.
