Buyer beware.

My experience in dealing with vivint has not been positive. They have high pressure sales staff, premium priced equipment and monitoring, and my experience with customer service is as bad as I have ever experienced. When you sign a contract with them, it is for five years. If you need to end your contract prior five years, you must pay off the remaining equipment balance (which is reasonable) and then they want 50 percent of your remaining monthly service fees for not providing any service. I would not recommend using them for home security.

We had Vivint for many years. The last 2 have been a nightmare. Our alarms would go off for no reason during the night. We had 8 error issues that needed to be fixed. We'd call customer service to have a tech sent out but they were more interested in sending me through out my home to reset and try to fix issues.id be on the phone well over an hour each time nothing would get fixed. They refused to send anyone. Eventually we tried to cancel on 3 separate occasions I was on the phone an hour and a half be transferred from department to department and eventually hung up on. They made it impossible to cancel too. The only way payment was stopped is when I lost my debit card. They sent my bill to collections.

Not very good.

My doorbell camera went out. Tried all options to fix. Called for technician to come out. Want to charge $99 dollars just to come. I'm still paying for this equipment. It should be courteous customer service! I'm not buying a new, more expensive camera as they suggested. I'm stuck with a broke camera

Horrible customer service. Totally incompetent "Customer Loyalty Department". I had to spend one hour and twenty minutes on the phone and still did not get my issue resolved. What a waste of time, money and energy.

And after paying the. For the remainder of the contract they continued to charge me the monthly fee!

Equipment is faulty after 18 days of service and customer service won't allow me out of the contract unless I spend $2000+. They promised a rebate, had to fight for it. Customer service told me "noone is perfect"? Doorbell was offline for 12 hours with no one home or monitoring the house. The camera light on the driveway hasn't worked in a week and still no technician out here to fix it. Roommate left the house at 11:30 pm and the camera detected him. He came home at 1:30 am and left the garage door open and the camera didn't detect him. So I was left with an open garage and no security system due to the faulty equipment. Purchase Ring or some other monitoring system and avoid these Vivint.

The system was installed, techs are nice, knowledgeable and it is easy to use. Today, I received an email that my notification number had been changed; I didn't change it so that was concerning. I called support. I had to call various support numbers trying to connect with a human, but each time I tried to get a human on the other end (to ask questions) the system disconnected me. Finally after getting someone on the phone to troubleshoot the panel, I asked about the SMS change and was told, "oh it was probably a mistake. Don't worry ma'am your system will probably alert you if someone has hacked your system." Probably, well that is great... probably. Once the system is installed, fingers crossed it works perfectly the whole time otherwise you are on your own. I suddenly feel like I do not have a security system anymore and am very disappointed as I was so happy with it. Buyer beware.

Don't Sign with Vivint

--10. These guys don't know how to install there systems without screwing up your homes electric. They are uneducated and sloppy. Then after you have completed your contract. They use all kinds of tactics to make it impossible for u to cancel there service. Do not use this company. There are many others out there that can give u quality service without the hassle of this underhanded company.

I do not suggest this company for your security needs. They install junk equipment then refuse to send a tech out to fix/replace it. They expect the paying customer to fix it. I do not work for your company, I will switch to ADT. Your customer service sucks. Wanting to charge me 99.00 for a tech to come and fix our front lock. We have waited weeks at a time 3 different times to get a new lock in the mail. It comes, we install it, but it still does not work. Now they just want to send us another lock... I'm done with you guys.

Don't give service

We ordered Vivint in July, they installed part and we are waiting for the rest. Keep getting told they have no installers, and promise to call back next day. This has happened 3 times. Just want my money back for service and equipment..

Thermostat issue
May 20, 2023

When my thermostat quit working, they sent me another, it screwed up after couple of months and they won't send a better one that will work. My thermostat doesn't work and they want me to enter another agreement or spend more money to get a thermostat that will actually work and perform better than the one they sent twice. When I buy from a company I expect them to make it right if their equipment doesn't work correctly. They were interested in more money or entering customer into another agreement and not making the customer happy with something that actually works. Highly disappointed!

Absolutely terrible service. Cameras are never working and they are having trouble charging my account for payment on their end which has resulted in 2 missed payments on my credit. To this day they still refuse to fix anything.

Awful! Their equipment is awesome but their customer service is void of intelligent representatives. They will tell you one thing and once you have all your equipment you are screwed. If you wish to waste your time being transferred to various departments when you have an issue just to finally be sent to legal for them to still not comprehend a damn thing then best of luck.

I have been a customer of Vivint for 22 years. Last year I learned that the memory problems and worsening leukemia symptoms were due largely to Wi-Fi. Since Vivint is only Wi-Fi, I asked to cancel my contract. I was told that since the memory issues had not resulted in full dementia and I had not yet died of leukemia, they would not break the contract. I had sent a letter from my doctor, stating that the physical symptoms were directly attributable to Wi-Fi. They did not care one bit.

Sorry support service

Have 5 cameras, had this system for a year
Only one camera works. Called support they want me to trouble shoot, have many times still no luck. Now they want me to pay $99 for a service call. I paid one time for a service call. The tech came stayed 5 minutes knocked my gutter down to the garage and left.
I'm finished with them and do not recommend this company

Impossible to cancel
January 3, 2024

Forget trying to cancel! They make it so difficult, try to talk you into staying over and over, and finally, after verbal authorizations and passwords and confirmations and them keeping you on the phone forever, they send you an email requesting a "Notice of Cancellation" with no instructions on what that "Notice" needs to contain in order for you to actually cancel. The longer it takes us to cancel (we've been trying for 2 months now), the longer they receive our money, and that's just the way they like it! Ridiculous.

I decided to switch to another security company. It was borderline harassment getting it cancelled. Despite telling the first person I spoke with multiple times I just wanted to cancel, he wouldn't stop. I had to speak to two different people and took about 30 minutes. After the high pressure to keep Vivint, there is no way I would consider keeping or using them again. On top of all this I am getting a whole new system from a highly rated company for half of what they quoted me for one outdoor camera.

Harassing salesman
August 28, 2023

I have had a salesman from this company come to to my home 2 times in 3 days. I don't open the door and talk to him on my chime doorbell. He is very rude and annoying. If he comes back I'm going to answer the door and nicely ask for his business card then I will file a complaint with this company. I will definitely have protection with me. I also have video of him and everything he says to me.

Nothing but problems, first they promised cameras and did not deliver, than the sales guy bought them for us and they still trying to charge us for it. They messed up our ac and some other electrical outlets and it took them over 6 months to fix and even longer to reimburse us for all the damages, we can never get back the months spent in the heat without ac and the headache fighting with them for over 1 year now.

Door to door scam. Go through there tablets real fast and don't tell you that 2 cameras and a cheep touchpad screen will cost you $3500. On top of that, you cant cancel there monitoring system until that is paid off. This company ruins lives and they have the worst customer service. Stay away please.

Horrible decision

They installed Vivint at my home and they mess up my air conditioning. They take forever on the phone and send someone to help with this heat my home is 92 F inside. Worse decision we have ever taken to get Vivint in our home
