Direct express has the rudest customer service I've ever seen in my entire life. They should not even be in business. They do not care about their customers at all. If I could give them negative 10 stars I would.
I haven't received any payment for 4 months and SS said to take it up with direct express. WELL direct express said they are only a card handling company and they can't do anything bout the money I didn't receive. But don't worry they'll try to reimburse you 3$ out of thousands.
Egregious fees! Horrible customer service. Inexcusable and horrendous customer service for those who can afford it the least. Makes you wonder how and why someone would get Pigeon holed into this by SSI. Just get out or avoid of this financial whatever it is at any option. Disgusted!
I think it began as a legitimate way to help seniors manage their benefits...now, it's just the government's way of punishing poor people for living too long.

My card was frozen for a week have to making purchases on Amazon. When I called they said I made too many purchases and it looked shady. I told them to please unfreeze it. They said they could not do anything that their hands with Tide. What kind of bank is that really? I would avoid getting this card. Even cash app would be so much better than this. I plan on switching ASAP
Their lousy service is designed to force you into opening a bank account.

Try to use my card at pharmacy was told my card no longer works. After 3 hours and 47 minutes I finally got a hold of someone at direct Express only them to tell me there's nothing they could do about it and they didn't know what was wrong. Actually had to have someone through social security call them to be able to use my card again because they messed up. Customer service sucks I was treated like it was my fault and I'd done something wrong. I will be looking for a different service besides direct Express if this is how it works forget it. You might want to think about doing that yourself don't bother with direct Express
Most of the time I cant even use the card.i have to go get a prepaid card and put money on it because my online purchases keep being declined what good is the dam card,who wants to spend hours on the phone trying to talk to someone about using your own money.
When you are not being treated, fairly about your own money, call the inspector generals office on DR Xpress and find another bank that can handle your money. Change your accounts the best way you know how and put them out of business and also file claims against them because what they're doing is fraudulent is unfair and they're treating people like their scum of the Earth. Please people file complaints with your inspector general.
For last 3 months I have been locked out of my account, they are not paying my bills on auto pay and have to call in be put on extreme hold hours just to get my hard earned money. I have been a customer in good standing since 2007 This company is the worst kind taking advantage of low income poor people. I don't recommend using this company for anything!
I just tried to make a purchase from Walmart online, and they locked my card for placing too many orders with them. I then tried to order from Amazon.com, and the same thing happened! If you do business with a vendor that charges your card when the item ships, it's easy to go over the number of transactions allowed per merchant. Of course, they still hold on to your money, even if you have no way to spend it.
They shut my account down with no warning. When I got declined at the pharmacy they told me it was for suspicious fraud and for my protection. They never provided any proof for this. They said I will get a new card in 10 business days. It is a long time to go without food and medicine.

Direct Express is stealing my money every month today February 1,2022 they took my whole check! How am I suppose to pay my bills! This is the worst card service I've ever experience. This is really stressing me out! I'm going to contact a lawyer.
This is by far the WORST financial institution that I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with! My card is constantly denied, even when there is plenty of money on it. This has left me stranded in the snow when my car broke down and I was unable to charge less than $10.00 to get an uber. I am unable to pay bills because of this issue. And forget calling them, you will never get an answer, no matter what time of what day you try. I have spent a total of over 4 hours on hold at various times on various days of the week trying to get a hold of somebody to resolve this issue. I am transferring my direct deposit over to another card immediately. I advise anybody who is issued this card to transfer over to a different one immediately, it will save you an untold amount of frustration and hassle. The only reason that I am even giving one star is because you have to. I would give negative stars if I could.
I have waited multiple hours over the phone just to get a hold of some one. How is it this company is still in business. How does the government allow such people to operate. There had to be some kind of an inside connection with a government official the fact this company is still in business.
They are the most abusive personal ever. They will transfer you to different people to solve the issue. Every time they transfer you pull up a seat minimum one one hour from on department to another and good luck. For me it's been a whole week tell now no resolution. Nothing is resolved.

I'm in my fourth week still no card the investigation took shorter than me getting a replacement card. I reported foreign activity on my account. I did not withdraw money from ATM on that day in Queens I was in Long Island NYPD detective's house celebrating his son's 1 year birthday. Just a reminder the birthday boy father is Batman. Investigation took less than a week to decide that I was at fault can't be in two places at the same time I wish that was possible. US Direct 1.2 rating really sucks
I've had this card for 10 years I'm moving my money to a bank these people are idiots you can never get a hold of anybody they can lock your money up for weeks and you won't be able to access it if you have a complaint the place to go is the federal trade commission ftc.gov/complaint,
This is the second month in a row this horrible business has refused to answer my calls won't let me have my money I'm gonna lose my place to live I got late fees because of them the worst bank ever.this has caused me so much stress and I have a bad heart.I feel helpless.don't know how to get in touch without them hanging up on me!
The amount of support offered on these cards is minimal compared to other banks - it takes forever to get a hold of a customer service representative. They charge $1.50 for every single transfer of funds from the account on the card to another bank. It's also the only bank I've ever encountered that needs your account to be empty in order to close it - usually they can just mail a check?
Close it out as soon as possible and get yourself a real bank.
Answer: Absolutely not! The system is automated if you can meet your need via that system you will be good to go. If you need to speak to a human it could takes hours and days. I've been calling for 4 days. Every hour 2 - 20 calls an hour. I receive the message they have a high call volume, they tell me to try again later and then they disconnect they call. Their practices are abusive.
