As a longtime TurboTax advantage customer, I paid for and received the 2021 tax year version and loaded it as a disk. The disk was corrupted and had no function for entering Social Security income, which a customer service representative was able to see for herself.
But Intuit corrupted my turbo tax advantage account and lost the payment history, although the registration number does show. Even the product code on the disk was "an old number", whatever that means. TurboTax would not give me a substitute free online version Because the representative couldn't see that I'd paid for the first corrupted, useless disc. That was in spite of the fact that another representative could see that the 2021 program was loaded onto my computer.
There is absolutely no reason to buy another product from them. I don't know if my payment will be recorded or if the software will function properly at all.
TurboTax used to be a very helpful reasonably priced product. It is not anymore. Don't get TurboTax.
My Turbo Tax freezes after download connection established -- can't get an answer out of them -- they just want me to pay to join some customer group instead of giving me help.
Just wanted to give everyone the heads up Turbo Tax never submitted my refund into my bank account the IRS informed my refund was processed and submitted back to Turbo tax and Turbo tax was supposed to deposit my refund and they never did. Its been a year and I cannot get a hold of a live person just recordings that end up disconnecting call.
They advertise free no matter filing status, NO. Support, Sucks. Charge you no matter if you file or not. Refuse any refunds even though they say 100% guaranteed. If you do file complaint, they offer you 20% discount off of something that is suppose to be FREE FREE FREE FREEE

This company wants to charge for a Federal return that is simple and free on other sites. Then they want to charge for declining to use their company Credit Karma. It is the WORST service for tax payers who DIY taxes and have an easy return. HORRIBLE! I have used them for over ten years. NOT AGAIN! TAXACT IS MY SERVICE.
Not sure who the 26K reviewers are but if you go on line to write a review on the turbotax site, you cant even write the review so im guessing its all crap. Purchased an online download, fine you say, except I cant download it because they have an old email and that cant be changed unless I fill out an online request that cant be done because they have MY OLD EMAIL. They have no problem charging my acct, but getting the problem solved in nearly impossible. Ive been at it for 3 hours
I've been using TurboTax for the better of 5 years. 2022 tax season was the last straw with this fraudulent company and their thievery partner TPG. Long story short, 2021 I filed with ease(so I thought). I got my state back within a week which was awesome! Then sometime goes and goes and goes. Finally I got a notification saying my federal $2,004 was finally deposited. However I only received $4 out of the $2,004. Spent several days emailing back and forth and several hours on the phone with customer care. The only answer I ever got was 'We show no reason or errors for you to have had $2000 withheld from you.'. It was until 2022 I finally was able to see someone had "refilled" after I had. As of today I'm still not sure how to fix this if it even can. Now on to 2022 tax season, still waiting on replacement check for federal from TPG and had to threaten with my legal team to even get what I got after months of little to no response. Turbotax has no answers and refuses to even help. Honestly save yourself the headache and your money and file with anyone else besides Turbotax.
I was able to complete my taxes with no problem. Then I tried to print it and the program went into an infinite loop (on my Mac powerbook). My guess is that it was looping while looking for a printer, but I use a wifi printer which is not directly connected to my computer. When I tried to contact Intuit I could only talk to a chatbot that was unable to get my email address right. It's *******@mac.com. At first it said it heard *******@mac.com. Then on subsequent attempts it said o*******@mac.com. It seemed like it didn't clear the previous attempt and clumped them together. Then it said it would connect me to a human, and the connection hung up on me before a person came on the line.
Been doing my taxes a few years now off and on and this year is just BS!was locked out of my account by turbo tax and when I try to confirm who I am it keeps saying issues with my Pictures of my ID front and back (and Id is still in excellent condition/no faults or bends or tears in my ID!then or will say like its been saying for over 2 months now when trying to recover account "problem on our end... we're on it"...how long does it take them to handle problems in there system?

Ok first, i am a TurboTax Devote. I have been using the product since 1994. Their Small Business editions. Had made life a lot easier at tax time. This year however. They just lost a life long customer. Yup. Over 27 yrs but not a single dime from me again.
Fully updated Windows 11 Pro 64, Kaspersky AV Suite.
Exactly what legitimate software requires you to disable your anti-virus in order to operate. Not a single program i use requires this. That's your first flag.
After the initial installation, program updates and operates. But if you close it... you will get an update error and failure every time you open it again unable to report, or file taxes. Flag #2
I have found a slight work around for this... But why would i pay good money to have to reinstall the program every time i use it? Flag #3 Ease of use just went out the window.
And If i find out that Installing this program is destroying my SSD's not only will their be another flag but a Lawsuit to follow.

In conclusion. Purchase and use this product at your own risk. But it's the last time this 27 yr consumer of TurboTax will purchase anything from Intuit.
Ive used their service for years without incident. I get an email in July stating I need to amend my 2022 return because I "uploaded" a duplicate copy of my 1098 form. Wait what? I never uploaded anything because all my information is already there. Also, I always pay extra for the max defense to avoid any errors. In addition to that, I go over everything with a fine toothed comb. I reach out to a live expert who was not helpful at all, but attempted to guide me through the amendment process. Irritated and frustrated i contact the IRS to dispute this alleged owed amount. No luck. They tell me to contact turbo tax. I reach out again, I finally speak to someone with sense who explains that this has happened before, but typically they catch it. She advised me to dispute asap. I do and these FOOLS tell me after sending in my documentation that all they can do is refund me the penalty incurred but the rest of the bill is mine! Im livid! What the hell did i pay extra for if you guys are making errors?! I will never use their service EVER. And im telling everyone i know!
I hated my experience with Turbo Tax. While the platform prides itself on being "easy" and harps on this idea of putting the people first, it quite literally tricks you at the end by forcing upon you unnecessary fees, not to mention the cost is not exactly affordable as the price continuously rises. Still, my family falls victim to it every because it is familiar and maintains uploads of previous tax returns. Though this service is no longer just unique to Turbo Tax, making it difficult to justify using it. It is extremely frustrating when you realize they lobby for taxes to continue to be difficult to understand, using purposely confusing jargon, for the average American. Not to mention they collect loads of data and information and force upon you updates after updates when you don't even know exactly what you are agreeing to, yet you must do it order to continue to use the service. They are smart for waiting until the end to push random fees because by the time you get to that point you'll agree to anything just to be done. Not that any tax platform or service is truly for the people, but Turbo Tax has become so conniving I have taken the responsibility upon myself to write this lengthy review and make my voice heard so others may turn away from Turbo Tax and seek other service platforms with even slightly more consideration and decency for the average hardworking American.
They guarantee 100% complete accuracy and they DO NOT STAND BEHIND IT! They are a total waste of money and i would never use them again! Poor customer service all the way around! Please DO NOT waste your money on their overpriced products! They do not care about customers, they just take your money and then it's your tough luck!

I have been a loyal customer of Turbotax for decades but this year I am a newlywed filing a joint return. In early April I filed an extension and scheduled payment of taxes. The payment was in my account but when on April 21 I saw it was not removed i called and was told it was rejected. I was shocked - no notification - but paid by April 25. Working through my wife's brokerage statements which I finally obtained I was at least pleasantly surprised that when added my taxes were reduced and I awaited a refund. Just this week I got a notice saying you owe interest for 10 days $61, AND you are getting a 6652 Failure to File Penalty and Failure to pay penalty ($1,523)! As I had filed a case in April when this was uncovered BY MEi called Turbotax today. They basically said not our fault you should have seen something. When i suggested they take note and make sure this did not happen to others they were rude, not my job. My take away is caveat emptor, Turbotax is a tool for filing, but file early and check independently what they claim.to do (better perhaps is print and mail with check). I really thought the company was at least interest in continuous improvement (I did not expect "my bad, let us pay your penalty"). Perhaps if you pay up for "audit protection" they might be more caring but i know my info is sound. All in all not worth premium compared to others as any image of care oe uniqueness is a lie. Best way for a disappointed customer to convey things is via reviews. I actually see i am not alone at my disdain. AVOID, plenty of better options.
Every other screen, theres an opportunity to upgrade, and the option to NOT is always hard to get to. I was getting ONE tax exemption that saved me $25 dollars, and I woild have had to pay FORTY to get their premium plan (which, naturally, just turned into a subscription) in order to get that. F*uck turbotax.
First of all, I used Turbo Tax for 2019 and 2020. The customer support is atrocious when there's a problem. In 2019, after paying nearly $200 to enter information into their form, it was rejected over and over and over with a code saying that the income was incorrect. It wasn't, I entered directly from my tax documents. Then it said the AGI did not match last year's return, again, straight from my 2018 taxes. Finally rejected so many times we were late and had to file an extension. No use because the "tax experts" could not figure out what was going on. Until around October after many calls and emails someone finally let me know that the "codes" for reasons rejected were wrong and the IRS had my husband listed first last year and that is how we needed to file. Then it was too late to efile and I had to print off my return and mail it in. Now 2020, I try again. Triple check all of the data. AGI again. Had to enter 0 because apparently the IRS has still not received my 2019 return and has us as not filed. Turbo tax said, oh, you need to download the software, fix 2019, reprint and mail in again. The download is $100+. In the meantime, enter 0 for AGI. Ok, did that. Rejected again. Said my dependent's socials do not match. Looking straight at the cards Turbo Tax. Sorry you need to download the software and print it and mail it in yourself. But what? I just paid $200 for your expert assistance and this is what I get? Ridiculous!
There is a scam going on between Turbotax Intuit this year and Credit Karma. Instead of asking IRS TO send your money to your personal account, your money goes to Credit Karma and you get notified about the money 2 days later, by the time you transfer the money into your account it takes another 2-3 days business days for the money to clear, a total of 4-5 days delay while your money could have been deposited directly into your account. Please find another tax company, I have been a victim and I do not you to be one
I have e-file'd with TurboTax online for years with very few negative experiences. This year, I entered my information with the intention to e-file once again. Because the government was not yet done with a form that I needed, they would not allow me to file yet (I'm still ok at this point.) They said to go ahead and pay now to "lock in my rate," so I did.
When I went back on a few days later, TurboTax now said that there was an error and that e-filing was no longer an option. I use TurboTax so that I CAN e-file, and that is what I was promised I would be able to do when I paid. Just to make sure that I didn't do anything wrong, I filled in ALL of my information with another online tax service (a much cheaper one) and everything worked great.
Since I had not used ANY of the services that I had paid for yet, I figured I would just submit a refund request, but I was told that there is no satisfaction guarantee with their online services.
I called TurboTax, but their customer service has been both incompetent and horrendous. It looks as though they are just fine stealing my money for services that they did not perform. I will never use them again.
Answer: Very difficult to get, had to call numerous times to get a response and then there was no, let me help you with that. They were uncaring about my situation, I had to pursue questioning what they can do and would end up forwarding me to departments that did not respond.
Answer: They also charged me when they shouldn't have. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They are crooks.
