The company has garnered significant criticism for its customer service, with many customers expressing frustration over the lack of responsive support and difficulties in obtaining refunds. Common complaints include billing issues, inadequate communication, and a perceived lack of accountability for damages caused by sitters. While some users reported positive experiences with sitters, the overall sentiment reflects a sense of disappointment and mistrust, particularly among sitters who feel exploited by the fee structure. The company appears to prioritize marketing efforts over customer satisfaction, leading to a growing perception of unprofessionalism and dissatisfaction among users.

Thank you Emma & Justin for the opportunity to look after Ned (Cocker Spaniel) Nala (The independent Cat) & five chickens, who provided us with fresh eggs every day. It was a delight to take Ned for walks especially without his lead as he was very obedient and very loveable. Nala the cat only needed us at feeding time and the chickens were very easy to look after. It was a lovely house with all the facilities and we would highly recommend this sit and hope that we have the opportunity to sit again in the near future Pat & Les
I enjoy the opportunity to meet wonderful families and their furry loved ones.
Each sit is a different experience. I get to visit new cafés, restaurants, and experience various places that I have never visited before.
A very helpful connection between people who want to look after other's homes and thus allowing others to leave home with peace of mind.
Trustedhousesitters is a perfect example of online business working extremely well & long may it continue! Extremely caring owners are connected with extremely caring sitters providing positivity in equal measures on both sides. Thank you truly with all my heart, not only for the amazing opportunities but for the wonderful warm feeling that so many companions are being cared for so dearly at what can be a very stressful time by equally kind hearted souls.
This was our first house sitting position through Trusted House- Sitters. When we joined we knew there was a fee for the year. We felt it was a norminal fee to be able to see housesitting positions located across the globe. We just finished our first position, it was highly successful. We are retired and don't expect payment, a month of free rent and time to explore new areas is payment enough.
I'm just home after yet another sit with Trustedhousesitters. I only wish I'd have joined sooner. I'm hoping that by the end of 2021 I'll have visited every county in Ireland and had a lot of fun along the way!
Both pet and home sitters and pet and home owners may require a degree of screening to feel confident about trusting strangers. Trusted House Sitters provides that buffer zone where people can meet and talk about a possible match. Unfortunately, the website could be more user friendly all processes are not that intuitive when first navigating through their functions. Yet, all in all a very good service provider.
(For example, as I attempt to add photos here, the program will not allow me to do so, despite repeated attempts.)
TrustedHouse Sitters has been a super programme for my wife and I to periodically enjoy looking after pets when their owners are away. We are no longer able to have pets at home, as we are regularly out of the country for months at a time, and when we did have animals, horses, donkeys, sheep, cats and dogs, THS was not established. Now in our Seniors' Retirement Resort, and still travelling regularly, we are not allowed to have pets. We have been able to sit in Spain, in British Columbia and Ontario, Canada, and in the United States. Looking forward to more sits in the future.
We have been doing house and pet sitting with Trusted Housesitters since 2015 and we have had a great time in France, Scotland, England, Ireland and New Zealand. We usually suggest that the houseowners interview us on Skype so that they know who to expect.
The best hosts have a meal ready when we arrive and we usually reciprocate when they arrive back from their time away. One host was a bit economical with the truth as to where their home was situated. It was one hour from Dublin instead of being in Central Dublin as the map showed so you need to ask early exactly where they live!
Overall we love doing these housesits - we get free accommodation and the hosts' animald can stay at home. They have the added bonus of someone being in the house for security reasons.
Love the flexibility this app allows. Can pick and choose. Able to do it in different locations and cities. Very fun.
Kristin and Byron have a beautiful home in a lovely part of Calgary. They did a great job of covering in person and in their website booklet everything a sitter needs to know. They left no stones unturned. Abby was great company and very well behaved. She loved her walks and was very patient. She is a happy and healthy girl who loves her family. The experience was a pleasure.
I had wonderful experiences in all the houses where I've been! Thanks for this opportunity!

I wondered if it were worth joining Trusted Housesitters (in terms of the upfront payment). A year on, the answer is an unequivocal "yes". I've met some great people, seen some fabulous things, and hopefully helped some owners alleviate their fears about leaving alone their favourite friends. This is a well-run and organised website - I'd heartily encourage people who are in two minds to join.
Such a lovely family to house sit for, I felt at home immediately. My room with ensuite was lovely as is the rest of the house. Sandy set me up in his office so that I could do some work which was a total bonus. Mac, the dog, is great company and we had some really lovely walks and there are many options nearby. Highly recommended!
We were very warmly welcomed by Carol and Paul into their house and they took all the time needed to instruct us about how to look after their 3 dogs, cat and quirky house. They even made us a roast dinner and scrumptious apple pie. The animals are lovely, great fun, and soon bond with you! Once you establish the routine of it all, they are easy to look after and it's a very rewarding experience.
If you go into house-sitting in full knowledge of what you are doing then you will have a great time. We have had many and varied house-sits in all sorts of different places, with a range of homes, people and pets. You're not going to love everyone and every home but so far everybody has been fine and some people are really lovely and we have made some good friends. Use your common sense when choosing the right house-sit for you; avoid the obviously over-anxious, tight-arsed, up-themselves types that you will find everywhere. It's not hard to read between the lines when choosing a house-sit and by being sensible and open-minded yourself, you will have some amazing experiences and meet some great people. We have loved it and will probably always use it to some degree or other. If we want to get away and experience a new place without being bottled up in an anonymous hotel room or paying a fortune for a holiday cottage then house-sitting is the perfect win-win solution. No, you don't get paid, but then who has ever suggested that you would be paid? Free accommodation, all amenities on hand, free services (electricity, gas, water, council tax, etc), the comfort of someone's home, and pet(s) to keep you company... payment enough for me. :))
I joined Trusted HouseSitters to give me a view of the world outside my relatively narrow confines which I had created while I was caring for my husband who had Dementia. He passed in 2017 and I was stuck in a rut.
Visiting the sits, meeting people and looking after my feline charges have given me a lift in spirit.
Such a lovely experience
Thanks
The name does not make it less toxic.
The day before leaving on holiday out of the country, I had to cancel my credit card thanks to unapproved expense from Tricked Housesitters.
After a year, they renew you anyways.
Mucho gracias TH for your subversive approach to renewals, cancellations, etc.
Originally, I would have given Tricked Housesitters many stars for service from the actual housesitters.
After all, people are majority good and chances are low you will have problems.
But if you do. Try Tricked Housesitters customer service.
Ha ha.
I chose not to accept their terms and conditions at the moment of renewal notice to no avail.
And if you do, you accept an automatic a renewal clause burried in the terms.
You are locked in.
Ha ha.
Thank you to my bank for not accepting this shady renewal.
Check Tricked Housesitters answers to negative reviews: a list of programmed rubber stamp empty sleeping pills answers.
The bottom line: little shows integrity at renewal, cancellation and negative reviews.
Not worth the money for the administrative hassle.
Go for a more honest organization.
Together with my wife and our two children (10 and 12 y. O.), we just finished sitting a house close to Auckland (New Zealand) for 5 weeks.
Thanks to trustedhousesitters.com we could find this great opportunity to exchange our house and pet-sitting services for a very comfy and completely free accommodation for 5 long weeks.
The experience has been great for all of us. TrustedHouseSitters can definitely be a game-changer for any traveler who wants to visit new places and doesn't necessarily have a big budget.
Their site is very well organized and user-friendly, the cost of the service fair and very quickly recovered with just one or two days of sitting and the experience you can get out of it simply uncomparable.
I've been with Trusted House Sitters for 3 years and it's been amazing. I travel to places I want to experience, meet new and interesting people, and spend time with sweet pets. It's a win-win.
Answer: Fees are an annual membership for both homeowner and pet sitters (approx $120). With thousands of members, I've not had any problem finding a sitter.
Answer: Hi Jim, when house sitting it is expected that you will take care of your own cooking, etc. You will have full use of the homeowners kitchen facilities. We hope this helps. TrustedTeam
Answer: Yes. It depends on where you live but this couple is beyond question the best and dependable and honest. Debbie and Wil Wilburn. debbieandwillwilburn@gmail.com Please give my name: Fluffy's mom

Answer: Hi Sada, You'll be able to read reviews of the sitters on their profiles. If there isn't anything showing, then this indicates that the sitter doesn't have any reviews just yet. If there is something else that we can do to help, please do get in touch with Membership Services, and we'll be more than happy to speak with you further. Kind regards, The TrustedHousesitters Team
