Trulia Reviews Summary

The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer service, particularly in credit repair and recovery services. Many customers express satisfaction with the effectiveness and responsiveness of specialists who helped them recover funds and improve credit scores. However, significant concerns arise regarding the real estate listings, with complaints about misleading information, outdated listings, and unresponsive agents. This inconsistency suggests a need for better quality control and communication in their real estate services. Overall, while the company excels in financial recovery, it faces challenges in maintaining credibility in property listings.

I would give negative stars, if I could.

They have the worst worst service, should have looked at these reviews before signing up.
Experience Before giving them my credit card info:
Had great communication with rep, she was telling me everything about how wonderful their program is, They communicated swiftly until the day I signed up.

Experience AFTER signing up and getting myself into a 6 month contract:
Rep Not responding, away on vacation, call back few days later. On hold forever, that you just have to hang up.
Leads are horrible, had not had one good solid lead so far, wrong info on those leads, I'm 2 months into the contract. Stopped my credit card to get their attention... and I did, they sent me an email saying your card was declined and call them for updated information.
I did... and wow, they answered the phone at first ring (wasn't put on hold at all). I got pissed and they transferred me to billing department an old man named James C. Answered... said, if I don't make payment within few days, he will send my info to the 3 credit bureaus.
Oh, and he followed up with an email... what great service when they want you to sign up and continue to make payments. It's better to sign up for all the free stuff, no need to pay extra.

Zillow is much better with customer service. I should have gone with them. Want to know more, feel free to contact me.

June 1, 2015

HORRIBLE - Cannot claim my OWN home. ALl the facts are WrONG even the photos are not of my home! Have written multiple times NOTHING. All Trulia does is forward my email to agents and then I get calls asking if I want to list my home.

Deceptive!
May 22, 2015

This company will promise you leads but then send you renters! This is a horrible company! They won't let you out of your contract! We had to cancel our credit card to get out. If a company doesn't want to release you from a contract that means they cannot stand behind their product! Do Not use this company! Danger danger!

This is in response to reviews from successful buyers who liked the site. Post-Zillow-Merger home shopping consumers may find homes if they are able to see one unsold by the agent on the sign--who also works for the Seller. The buyer-agents who advertise in an effort to offer exclusive representation as a Buyer Advocate are the ones who are less likely to be reached. All of the changes happened mid-February, and Zillow doesn't seem to be able to bring the same site around for all of us. There are now apartment rentals, tons of advertisers popping up everywhere--not the same product pre-merger (in my experience). So just to clarify for this perspective. Am glad Jacqlyn was an exception in and has a great home--always the ultimate goal!

Last month I wrote about how Trulia was not sending me the real estate leads they told me they were yet still wanted to paid the full amount. I was promised 20-30 buyer leads a month with a guaranteed four seller leads. Last month I got four total buyer leads, this month 2 buyer leads and one seller lead. A supervisor at Trulia told me that even if they had send me zero leads, I still had to pay the full amount. I immediately shut down the credit card they had on file. They are now sending me threatening emails about sending me to collections.

So, my message to Trulia- if you want to see any more money from me, GET A COURT ORDER. Quit sending the threatening emails and attempts at intimidation. I have one simple policy - I DO NOT PAY FOR PROUCTS OR SERVICES I DO NOT RECEIVE.

Bring it on, Trulia. I am waiting.

They are a Scam
May 4, 2015

I was promised leads from sellers and buyers with a high share of market representation based on my zip code, 3 months passed and all I received was suspects instead of prospects or leads. When I called them to ask for the agreement and what they promised all their response was " Our leads are based on online search, we cant promise you will get leads but you still are responsible to pay us" That is what scammers do! They dont have any updated information since Trulia use the realtors for properties we list in the MLS that we pay, then we favor Trulia paying more, for them to use our listings for their benefit.

If you are looking for snake oil, Trulia is for you! If you are a Realtor and looking for lead generation, DO NOT FALL FOR TRULIA's lies! They are worse than the stereotype for car salesman, politicians and lawyers! My experience with Truia was they would sign me up for this special promotion 6 month and get back to me by the end of the week to make sure everything was set up correctly. I never heard from them again... until they wanted to sign me up for something else. Then the run around got fun. Asked to speak to managers, no body would talk to me. The sales guy I got suckered by won't return phone calls or emails. The one guy who did respond to my request for a refund because the did not generate ONE SINGLE LEAD, either phone or email to me, said they never promised that... but he would listen to the recorded call and see if there was any misleading. Never heard from him again. Then quite by accident, as I was looking for a way to review them... I stumbled onto a recorded message place on Trulia. I had received several confusing phone calls. NOT identified by Trulia as they said. These calls were random calls from people who wanted to rent an apartment (I sell Real Estate, not property manage) in a remote community 3 hours away! They had somehow linked me to something NOT REAL ESTATE oriented. Not in my community and not lead generating! REALTORS, don't fall for it! Spend your money elsewhere. Throw it in the toilet for the good it will do you. These guys are snake oil salesman.

1 month of their service, got 7 referrals of Homes that have already sold and or are not for sale, called them and they stated they are bringing leads to me to sell them something in that area... They are under no duty to ensure the information is current, they sent me a lead from a home sold 4 years ago. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY... also stated NO REFUNDS... PERIOD... wish I got paid for under performing...

This is so weird it if laughable. I pay for seller ads. I agreed to a 3 month term. Just to test the waters. I needed a very targeted area in Manhattan. One zip code! The sales agent said, I will give you extra zips as a bonus. The deal was, 8 leads a month@ $700.00 plus the bonus areas. Leads in the zip code i wanted 2, both were for price guidance, neither owned the apartment they were looking to sell. When I called to review this process i was told, Well, we are give you these extra leads at no charge! I am in NYC, the leads are 60 Miles away! They are useless to me! They correct the zip codes and guess what. No Leads at all! Then I am reviewing the list of "leads" and a pop up appears marketing me to spend more money. I type in When you deliver the service that I have already paid for. And im connected to another sales person. She asks if she can call me to review and I say yes. Instead of taking the time to address my concerns and try to deliver good client service she starts lambasting me for my concerns! My take away from this, I am not the only Broker who has the same complaint! STAY AWAY! ** was my rep!

Useless app
March 8, 2015

Absolute useless app. Half the time it's looks like the site is down. So frustrating. Think Trulia should invest in some decent servers or maybe consider redeveloping the app.

I have been fervently looking for a home on a budget and all the homes that i look at and would be a good opportunity have been sold like two weeks ago and are still listed on here as actively for sale and several had actually changed brokerage realities and been sold off yet still listed by the previous realtor... way to update

I have tried almost a dozen websites like Trulia and Trulia hands down has the HIGHEST DENSITY OF SCAMS per listing of them all. I live in Denver and the market for renters has become rapidly very tough and it can be hard to find something in your budget if you make less than 70k. I was initially excited to see that Trulia had so many affordable listings near my partner's place of work (I drive, he doesn't). A couple of these listings were ridiculously cheap, which I figured were probably scams, but all the others I had no reason to suspect were anything other than good deals that I should pounce on immediately. I contacted at least 13 "property managers." As it turns out, I have received responses from about 75% of the "property managers" that I have contacted and 100% of those responses were outright attempted scams. I was able to flag and have these listings taken down, but my time spent on Trulia was completely wasted as I was put in contact with zero legitimate rentals within my budget (and I know for a fact that my budget is not THAT low). Trulia has absolutely zero infrastructure in place to screen potential listers, which is actually worse than Craigslist, a non-profit entity.

I tried to find a rental through Trulia. Instead they took my phone number and email address and added it to one of their listings. There is no way to reach anyone at the company to stop the calls over 50 on a listing that was very questionable. They do not care what they post I would think twice before I used them in any capacity.

I've been property hunting awhile now. I use trulia and zillow in tandem to verify each other's info. Recently trulia changed it's photo display from useable, friendly and much better than zillow to garbage - total and complete garbage. Someone's head was up their $#*! when they decided it was better to have a pop over that hides the rest of the page, makes it impossible to choose which picture to display. If a property has over 50 pictures and you just want to look at the kitchen, it takes forever to load AND you have to scroll through each picture - in order. FAIL. Saving grace is that most of the addresses on trulia also exist on zillow.

I used this site to find the house which I now own. The information on the listing was accurate and it was EXACTLY what i wanted. I've told several people about this site and they seem to like it too.

A real estate website
April 21, 2014

A real estate website. According to my real estate agent, its one of the better, more reliable ones. Great way to get a sense of the market, but you are probably better off getting the MLS, since its more official.

I have been using Trulia to research houses for sale in my area. It is generally pretty good, but the information can be pretty outdated, so be careful if you really fall in love with a place to double-check with your agent that it's actually still available. Although the site itself is kind of meh, the trulia app is pretty awesome. It's really easy and intuitive to use (I've been using it on a tablet). You can just move around a map and homes for sale will pop up in the area, you can tap a home to see the pictures, split the screen between maps and descriptions, etc... It's really fund to use, just realize that the information may be pretty old (as in days, which in real-estate time is an eternity).
