Do not use trademe! Not only are their fees ridiculously high but they can reverse funds out of your account with no explanation or anything! They won't answer your emails through customer service when you ask them why they took hundreds of dollars out and they don't have a contact number to call! THIEVES! Scammers!

After years of using Trade Me with no issues, the last trade was fraudulent and the police said this was not unusual.

I went to Trademe, the police, and bank as they suggested and the result... Trademe, the police and the bank all say they can do nothing.

Apparently the Trademe account was taken over, the email account was taken over and the bank account was taken over and the money was sent from the receiving ANZ account overseas within minutes of it landing and withdrawn there in hours (from what Kiwibank advised in their recovery attempt).

Tip for consumers:
It would have been cheaper to buy new direct or to use Facebook Marketplace and do a deal in person

I had a solid case against these buyer that put unfair feedback on my page. I even quoted from the Consumer Guarantees Act to prove that I have met up to my obligations. I was bitterly disappointed that the customer support team did not even bother to read the points but asserted that the buyer was right. This despite my clearly pointing out the buyer did not provide evidence, but word-of-mouth claims that the item I sold was faulty. Very sad. My rating is still over 99% though.

No Star- My account was locked, and I have been emailing them every day Not even a Response ;). They should call back within 24 hours, But I have been waiting for over a Week! Please don't go by fancy Ads. This Customer service is not Reachable any other way now. Unless you show up in the Wellington office. It is no longer the company of the old. Will not use that site anymore. Very disappointing.
Please let me know how to reach this company to get my refund which the Retailer is happy to pay back to my ping account.

Tip for consumers:
Don't save credit card or use ping - Retailer is happy to refund, but Ping won't refund me due to account lock. Don't confuse ping with likes of Paypal they are much more reliable.

Usually had good experiences with trade me with sales and purchases going through just fine. Customer service can be a bit of a pain so you really have to do everything yourself, choice can be a littlie limited as well.

Trade me is not safe as they say, they don't care about how much you get ripped off and how much you loose and always by the side of the dodgy and leave the victim alone. Trust and safety staff are not balanced and works against the victim, don't care about you leaving Trademe and say we are not loosing anything. I wonder why in the last years I see trademe making ads to get more members coz of these dodgy unbalanced yrust and safety staff. See you die slowly Trade me!

Harassing me to pay for the wrong payment. Contacted Corey TradeMe Property and related department multiple times. But they didn't solve it but threaten us.

Aside from the scams that (apparently) happen, the website itself is actually quite presentable and thoroughly easy to navigate, while it's not anything really special to look at, the focus is buying and selling items and it's worked fine for me for the past few years, I guess trust is necessary but you can avoid dealing with suspicious people based on their "positive feedback" but I guess that's just me.

I recently won at auction two watches, two separate sellers on trade. One arrived broken, not working when it was described as being in working condition. The other hasn't arrived 6 weeks on.
Thye have told me that they are on the case but I think my money is just gone.
Previously bought another watch, all good, and a car as described.
Won't be using this site again

Don't bother-too many scammers

Don't use this platform as it is very unhelpful. They will accept your payment and told you the seller had been instructed to ship the goods. The next moment they would tell you they hold on the money until a PING verification code had been received. As the seller had not received the money, the seller would not send the goods. When this happened, they would never answer your emails. You will be so helpless because they don't give their phone contact. This happened to me. They have held on my money one weeks already and I still have not received the goods. Neither my bank nor I know what the PING verification code was. Like Lazada of Shopee, they should protect the sellers and buyers, not just to hold the money on for a verification code but as a stakeholder. They have no right to hold it unless the sellers agree because ithe money is for the sellers. When the buyers have received the goods in good state and condition, they should within three days thereof release the money to sellers. If there is an issue raised within these three days they should solve it for them. Trade is just useless platform not helping the buyers and buyers when there is sn issue.

I still have not received the goods though Trade Me had received my money a week already

When you buy something and the seller takes your money and you dont get goods or hear from them, dont expect help from trademe, they give you computer questions to answer and goes around in circles and goes no where.
Tells you to fill in forms, WHERE,? Theres none
For two days ive tried to get hold of trademe,, NO GO,, STILL CAN NOT GET HELP
Totaly useless

Recently bought an item on trademe with an agreement with the seller it would be sent via a safe carrier method, after sale the seller up and sends it by a risky carrier because it was more convenient for them, without telling me til after the fact
Reported it to trademe but they dont care if sellers mislead potential buyers as long as it means they get sales, and this is the second time they have swept a report of this from me under the rug

the seller had no reason to mislead me as i have bought from them before without issue, just this time around they decided to change terms after a sale, and trademe is unconcerned

I was looking at bulk uploading images via My Products. It refused to upload images from site despite that being the products intention.

They refused to admit the problem at first, had no idea how to fix it, refused to fix it. By now months had gone by. I took the problem to Nicole Williams the apparent boss who has even less idea than someone with no idea. She told me a product manager would contact me, it never happened and she never responded when I contacted her back. This something a junior Dev could fix and test in about 2 hours.

Seller sold me a fake LV wallet. Contacted TM many times they refused to refund my money and despite of I have sufficient evidence they didn't give a dam. Don't buy from Trade me it's so obviously after my bad experience there are so many fake goods listing on their site and they will not do anything to protect you even though they advertised buyer protection policy in place but it's misleading. Trade me is only interested in collects fees nothing else and when it comes to customer service its like dealing with a bunch of high school kids what a bunch of arrogant useless people.

I bought a few things off this site, not many though. I've seen a lot of people who had bad experiences from this because they didn't buy responsibly, but just make sure the seller you're buying from has a good reputation. The purchases I made took a long time to arrive but were exactly what I asked for at a fairly low price. However I have had no experience on selling.

Absolutly horrible customer service, just deleted my account for no reason and I am a top seller on there. I now have no way of send out parcels to people who have paid, with no way contact them about the issue. None of their phone lines are working (even the one that costs $2.30 per min)
I have thousands of dollars trapped in my account that I cant get out either. Terrible thieving $#*!s.

I have been waiting for more than 8 weeks for service and solution, however, none had sorted it out!

It's been good, so, I'm migrating all of my advertisements to other companies that have had better response and quality with less fee.

Thanks so much TradeMe's Team, your bad service is helping me to save money and find different flavors.

TradeMe is a legacy, New Zealand needs a better company and service.

Has to be the worst ecommerce site globally the new cio has to be fired destroyed a once fantastic company and turned it into absolute amateur rubbish. No support, arrogant rude customer support with a lack of competency via email, terrible site with clearly no maintenance the cio is a disgrace for ruining this site and should be redeployed to poundland stacking shelves appaling mess if I could give minus I would

I have been trying to withdraw my money from tradeMe since December 2018 and the withdrawal request remain pending until I reached out to a recovery expert Dellj4001{AT}. Com, he guided me on what to do and helped me recover my money back.

Is a good site that i have used in the past have tried to start up my own NZ trade me account but for some unknown reason the site administrator keeps disabling my account and gives no reason. I have not had problems with other trade me buyers and or sellers in the past or with Trade me. Is not fair that people can have a NZ trade me account and others cant. They probably dont answer there feedback, and or dont have a customer service plan in place for online problems.

Very Disapointing, had an issue with listing;
- sent several request to them, support team, no answer
- left me in the deep end
- had 2 listings, only wanted 1, same product
- charged for 2, wanted credit and help to get sorted
- lack of response is poor
- they don't care
- happy to take my money
- unfortunately have a lot of confused buyers, due to double listings

TradeMe used to be a trusted kiwi site - but over the years it has just become a money making corp. Ok - they are there to make a profit - but it should not be at the expense of its own loyal customers with no protection at all. I even reported fake merchandise to them - they didnt care less. So... anything to make a quick buck for them. Over the years I have brought 100 items via TradeMe - with 4 issues. I have brought 2,000 via ebay - zero issues. That says it all.

Bought off this site for year's ( happily) now they have changed ownership, their accounts dept is useless!
They pass the buck back to you, when their system fails..

I am going to point out some things here about Trade Me as follows:
1. They charge 8% success fees and they are very slow in getting back to you about any issues such as non-paying buyer and getting reimbursed or credited for fees. Takes forever and a day to even hear back from them about when you might get your fees back.
2. Navigating the site is old-fashioned and non-upgraded. It is like the guy who made millions made the site as fast as he could to sell it off and it has not changed much ever since.
3. The tools and menu selections are hard to use and not informative or user-friendly. Anyone using Trade Me will have to accept that the standards are low in NZ and so is Trade Me's standards. When you go through listing title options they are leaving out so many that it is hard to know if you even got the right title listing...
4. Another issue is that Trade Me allows traders with negative feedback to continually exists. You have no control who bids on your auctions and if you state those with no-negative feedback are only allowed to bid on your listings and place a clause in your seller's policies- good luck having Trade Me Enforce it- they do not. When it comes to taking your money, they are there but when it comes to getting back you money then they are not there and can take forever and a day to get back to you- the longer they hold your money, the more interest they make off of it.
5. the last issue I wish to mention is that their website on the computer and on the cell phone or not consistent. I cannot change a title of a listing by cell phone as the spaces allowed are not the same on cell phone as computer. This is just one of their many non-upgraded glitches. They also charge you to phone them per minute no matter if it is their mistake or not. Talk about poor customer service policies. They barricade you from contacting them easily and make you pay so you might do it by email.
Personally, I do not like Trade Me and find them non-modern and old-fashioned with low standards or poor customer service overall. I cannot wait till eBay comes into NZ as I would happily switch and their fees are lesser than Trade Me.
New Zealand only has consumer protection acts or acts for consumer or trading rights on paper and absolutely nothing to back up these claims. Basically, you have no rights in NZ. You can only sort out things by negotiation and good luck negotiating with Trade Me when not giving you back fees or removing traders with a hoard of negative feedback who continually remain on their site trading. These business practices are common in NZ and these came from England. Good luck!
