While those who are blessed to actually have this equipment delivered in a timely manner may give stellar reviews the rest of us are still waiting for said equipment. You pay an exorbitant amount for installation yet cannot actually contact their third party vendor Ryder in the event there are scheduling issues -I. è, needing more time for a contractor to make sure your space meets tonal specifications- Tonal cannot seem to reach them either. It sounds like they are having issues fulfilling orders ergo giving the runaround on installation/Delivery. If you are good with shelling out $500 for equipment and services that you don't have and not know definitively of equipment arrival then this product could work for you.

I tried to order one of these after weeks of run around with thier customer service I gave up. They argued how my house was built in decisions on where I could have thier system installed. Calls to supervisors go unanswered. Looking at other reviews I am happy I did not end up with one of thier machines.

Bottom line...great machine, I really like it when it works. Everyone you talk to at customer service is polite and responsive. The installation guys have been great. The problem is product quality and delivery timelines.

First machine I got was defective. Screen randomly froze, but I was able to get a few workouts in and found I really liked it. Replacement took about 4 weeks to arrive. Second machine is inoperative. Again, the customer service people are very polite but they are telling me another 4 weeks to get a replacement and that my priority for a replacement is different than for a new buy. A friend of mine has had no issues with his machine and loves it. If and when I get one that works, I am sure I will be happy as well.

Total crap

Ordered 2 months ago.
Still waiting to actually get it.
Between them and Ryder -- no one actually cares enough to give a response.
Even if you DO get a "install date" doesn't actually MEAN anything as theres a chance you still won't get it installed.

So buyer beware -- if you order, you may wait... for NOTHING.

I bought a Tonal second hand but almost brand new. Before I bought it I talked to Tonal and they informed me that the warranty would not transfer but they would support the product. After 2 months of total use, in the middle of a workout, the screen goes white. The program is still running in the background but nothing can be seen. After powering the device off and trying to reset it multiple times, I called Tonal. Eventually, customer support emailed me back. They said that since I was the second owner they would not do anything to help. Two representatives offered to remotely access the Tonal and try a reset, but they were overridden by customer support. They told me that this is a known software issue but won't give me any details or try to fix it. I offered to pay for a technician to fix the product or to exchange the original Tonal for a new one at a discounted price, and they refused. The only thing that they would be willing to do was sell me a new Tonal at the upcoming sale price, $50 less than the current price.
The idea and programs are great when it works. I really enjoyed using it. Unfortunately, the quality and reliability is poor and it rarely works for long. Even though Tonal told me they would support the device, they don't. Bottom line is that once the warranty has expired and it malfunctions, which frequently happens judging from reviews and their customer service, all you have is a $4000 wall hanging.

When you pay $4k for a gym equipment you expect it to work without any extra charges. Well, that's not true for Tonal. After a one-year contract with them, where I was obligated to pay the now $60/mo membership fee, I've decided to cancel the membership. And for my surprise, ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING WAS RIPPED OFF OF MY EQUIPMENT. And when I say everything, I mean everything. I've expected that the library of on-demand workouts would be turned off. But, instead here's a list of every single feature or benefit that was turned off at the time of cancellation:

-Our growing library of on-demand workouts with our expert coaches
-Your metrics: data measuring and progress tracking
-Personalized weight suggestions
-Dynamic Weight Modes like Smart Flex, Eccentric, Chains, Spotter, and Burnout
-Form Feedback
-Free Lift movement library, including the video demos
-Your Custom Workouts
-Heart rate tracking
-Tonal Radio
-Apple Music integration
-Motivational features like Achievements, Leaderboard, Personal Records
-Partner Workouts and Virtual Group Workouts

My metrics? The custom workouts that I created? Apple music integration? (which by the way is a separate membership that I pay every single month to Apple and not Tonal). That's abusive in my opinion. They are simply manipulating their clients to pay $4k upfront, plus $720 in membership fees for a whole year, and when you think that you can finally set yourself free... you find out that the machine only works with an outrageous $60/mo fee.

The equipment that I paid $4k for is now a huge black screen on my wall. That's it. I paid for a huge black screen that features some touch-screen buttons at the bottom. That's it. That's all I have access to without the membership. Even the dynamic weight feature (which some may consider a safety feature) is not available anymore. As a consumer, I feel manipulated, used, abused, ripped off. Unfortunately, I don't have the means to sue this company. But I truly hope that someone out there does.

I purchased a Tonal in April and received toward the end of May or beginning of June. I immediately selected a program and started using my Tonal. My experience since has been nothing short of incredible. I worked out with a personal trainer for months and purchased a Peloton Tread, the workout I get on the Tonal is better than those two combined. I can push myself, but still feel safe that I'm not overdoing it because of Tonal's smart technology. I enjoy the trainers and the bits of information and stories they sprinkle throughout their programs. I reached out to service once and their response was quick and very thorough. I can't say enough good things about this machine and I'm excited for more people to jump on the bandwagon and try it!

Miserable Installation or lack thereof
June 8, 2022

I waited 2 months for delivery. The installer (XPO who came at 8:30 pm on a friday - 3 hrs late) said my studs were 21" apart so I needed the wider bracket. I contacted Tonal and let them know the situation and XPO said they would come back out with the wider bracket. They came out 2 weeks later and the installer had no idea what I was talking about and did not have the wider bracket. At this point I have no faith on this company's ability to properly install.

Not to impressed by Tonal Customer Service or Tonal in general right now. I recently bought a Tonal last week and hadn't even been shipped yet and they sent me an email for 250.00 off after I paid full price. I called and asked for the discount and was told No it was not possible. Not a good start Tonal for one of your newest customers. I have read some bad reviews about Tonal and I'm hoping I get a better experience once I receive mine, that of course I had to pay full price for.

HORRIBLE

I never write reviews but if I save one person from wasting their time or money. Please look elsewhere for a home gym. They device broke in the first 3 weeks and has been a useless device in my office for last 3 MONTHS. Tonal and XPO are completely incompetent still have not replaced it or refunded my money. XPO has cancelled 3 separate times which I took off from work to be home for the install/replacement.

Purchase experience sucked

They take your $$ but make you wait 2.5 months for it to reach the local delivery and installation company (XPO Logistics). Now that they have it they won't schedule a delivery date because they don't have the resources. XPO customer service sucks. Tonal customer service sucks and not doing anything to help. I'm on the verge of canceling my order.

It took a long time from the time I ordered until the install was finally scheduled. When the installers arrived, I was all set. I had a large open space for the installation. The installers refused to install the unit because there "might be some wires and water pipes in the area that they had to drill into." There are very nice stud finders that can see through walls and show you where the wires and pipes are. They had a simple magnet that could find studs because the nails are magnetic. They used a $2.00 stud finder to determine they could not install a $4,068.57 unit. No wonder this company is going down the drain.

Replaced an entire gym
November 5, 2021

I do my cardio with Peloton. For everything else I use Tonal. I am 6'8 and used to play professional basketball, so I was a bit worried that the weight wouldn't be enough or that movements would be limited. I can tell you that the movements are virtually limitless with the difference angles and the weight is PLENTY enough. I won't max out in this lifetime haha.
I'm very very impressed with Tonal. I just moved to a house and wanted to have my own gym - et voila. Done.

I have purchased the peleton, and the hydro without any problems, but ordering the tonal has been a nightmare. My delivery was delayed 3 times and then when they finally do show up i find out they cant install it because the studs didn't support the machine. They told me i have to do a stud build out this was dec 29th. I have the stud build out installed 3 days later and sent them picture's that it was complete. Its now January 22nd and still no delivery. I call and call email and email and somehow they cant give me an answer. Mean while im being charged for this equipment that i dont have. This company is bush league at best.

Worst customer service

Stay away from this company. They take your money and promise the world and then they go dark. Customer care is inept at their job. Supervisor do not work and do not take calls. They do not like Jewish people at all. Treat us like second class citizens. If you happen to be lgbqt they have it out for you. As once they found out I was gay i was blacklisted and my order was canceled and my calls immediately dropped. Buyer be ware

I ordered my Tonal in January. I was told shipping would be 12 weeks. I received an email and info my unit would ship on April 26th. Suddenly the date has changed to May 10th. No communication from Tonal, not even an email. Poor customer service. When you are paying the price that they charge, they should keep you in the loop every step of the way. I am planning on canceling my order. If they don't communicate with you prior to getting your Tonal and before they get your money, how bad will the communication be once they have your money.

This company is not customer friendly and from right after the sale, the customer means nothing.

Product support experience with many others here

Got my Tonal installed and at first it was great. Started to get some good workouts in, got into a routine, was starting to see some results.

Then one day, in the middle of a set, the left arm started to click like I had pressed the button to rotate it. With the weight still engaged and in the middle of a rep, the arm actually unlocked and started to swing around putting my arm/shoulder in a bad spot for a second.

I immediately called customer support and thought I was scheduling a tech to come out. 3 weeks later there has been no updates, no phone calls, no emails, nothing. Despite me repeatedly asking for literally any update at all.

This is not a premium product, it is not premium service, and I would absolutely not recommend this product to anyone until they get drastically better product support. I'm going to have to start completely over in my workout program if/when they finally get back out here to fix it. But they are more than happy to continue charging you for the monthly subscription I can't even use!

First let me say the machine is fantastic. Very versatile and you get a full home gym. Is it worth the money. Idk. I'm mixed.
What I don't like is the accessory are minimal. You get a basic and not everything you need. The bench is a flat bench. If they would have given a adjustable bench would have been a whole lot better to do incline decline and seated workouts. But they don't so you are limited there. Next they don't add any ankle straps to do leg workout so u have to buy that. No curlbar so you have to buy that as well and it's all aftermarket stuff. The subscription is worthless and your stuck for a year. This unit would have gotten a full 5 stars if they would have gave better and more options for accessories and would have came with a top of the line bench. For what you have to pay I don't see why that wouldn't have been doable. Again I love the machine but pissed I had to go purchase aftermarket accessories to make this a perfect home gym.

Beast Mode Activated

Yes it took a bit for my tonal to come in and quite frankly, it took me a bit more to get into the routine, but now that I am I would never want to be without tonal in my home. The resistance is incredible and challenging; it can push you just as hard as free weights. Yes it "feels" different mainly because it is different; it's amazing. I don't have to drive to the gym, don't have to drive home, don't have to find the extra time and risk additional germ exposure from the person who didn't wipe down their bench. I drink my pre workout, wait for my meeting to end, and hit tonal like I have a score to settle. I've gained a ton of strength and muscle mass with tonal. It has been a critical component on my mission to get rid of the pandemic weight gain after being stuck at home eating Cheetos all day (I mean don't get me wrong, Cheetos are wonderful). Is it the same as a gym with free weights clanking and the feeling of adding another plate to the bar? No. But does it give you options like chains mode for increased resistance and gains, as well as, spotter assist when your are pushing you max? Yes. I don't have to have the awkward "will you spot me" moment, thanks for that tonal. I love the feeling of free weights and tried tonal thinking it would be ok but never satisfying. I was wrong. This thing will kick your behind if you let it. I can create my own workouts or use a coach (special shout out to Coach Paul who inspired my beast mode title, that guy lives beast mode). Bottom line, want gains and the ability to build strength at home in an incredible and effective new way? Get tonal. Period.
