“Offering great products”

Joe M.
6/17/22

This is not the first time I have ordered from TigerDirect the products that I have ordered in the past have been great. So I expecting the same quality of products from this order and I'm sure they will last me another 10 years or so like the last ones with only a few upgrades here and there to keep up with the growing technology. Thank you, TigerDirect for offering great products at an amazing price.

“TD cancelled ordered without notification and have not returned funds”

arthur c.

Tigerdirect: Ordered from this website a few days ago (MBA/IPAD PRO) and today they cancelled the order without notification. Funds are still showing on CC as unreturned. It appears TD is in the business of cancelling orders that we place and keeping our money. Fraudulent business practices.

Verified purchase

With a large number of online stores I would recommend buying from somewhere else. Corporate customer. Due to some scheduling conflicts and people out of the office we decided a product wasn't right for us and tried to make a return 41 days after the order date when the return policy was 30 days and were flatly denied. Even though we only had the product in hand for 30 days it was not honored. We shall be purchasing from somewhere else with a longer return policy moving forward.

I used to purchase a few things from Tiger direct about 10 years ago. I don't live in the region any more and thus have no interest in receiving their promo emails. The emails come at a frequency of 1 a day and sometimes 2 per day. When I click unsubscribe I get a screen saying that my order could not be completed (there isn't any order) and that I must call a number. I called the number and they said they would remove my email from the list. I got more emails.

Also, I made a rule in gmail to delete all emails from them and they still come into my inbox. How is that possible?

Because I ordered a few times from them, I can now not get rid of their daily onslaught of marketing emails. This is a terrible service.

The photo shows the screen that pops up when I click unsubscribe.

Tiger Direct mostly sells products that are slightly out of date and past their prime. The prices are low because they are the "leftovers" or "end runs" from manufacturers who have stopped production in favor of newer, better products.

As long as you know this, and know that whatever you buy is not the latest technology, or has been replaced by an improved version, its fair enough. But then you must also contend with their customer service which is definitely "discount quality".

Being that the stock they sell has often been shifted around the warehouse a few times before finally getting out the door, it is often defective or broken. The challenge for the customer is to then get a repair or replacement. Tiger Direct will send you to the manufacturer, who will tell you the product is no longer supported. Take you pick: rock, hard place. With a bit of persistence, you might get one or the other to eventually make good on your purchase, but don't expect it to be easy. You chose a discounted item, and they will treat you as such.

TigerDirect was THE website where most of my colleagues and I would order our computer parts. That's to say that the business is quite different from what it once was. Since they have been acquired, it is a pain to find a deal worth actually considering, especially when other online suppliers are faster to ship and have a better deal. The support is also being offered in a lax way. I've gotten two completely unprofessional responses when inquiring about the details of two of their GPUs since their listings are sometimes incomplete.

Ordered a bunch of items. Most shipped right away. One item had an 1-3 day shipping estimate. It has now been over a month! Been emailing customer service for over a month. Some reps tell me it's delivered already, some say wait 24-48 hours and they'll get back to me (they do not), and some say it's backordered. They've taken my money and given me a tracking number that is for their drop shipper. Terrible customer service, it's like dealing with children under the age of 5. They can talk, but the reasoning and problem solving skill just are not there. Horrible experience.

I don't like this site because some of the products of this site are not as well as what it said. The quality doesn't work. Hope that improve.

Tiger direct is by far and large the single worst company I have ever done business with ever. I purchased a laptop from them in August. In September, the hard drive promptly died. After taking it to a repair person I was informed that this computer was a "refurbished" laptop. Fine, right? Well apparently all the "refurbished" parts were inferior versions of the existing product, making the laptop a ticking time bomb.
But that's not why I'm giving tiger direct a 2 star. I tried to return my laptop to get a replacement, or even just my money back. What that process looked like was this.
Step 1. Go to the website, contact company. Be told that is not something they do.
Step 2. Contact BBB. Exchange lengthy dialog via BBB resulting in tiger direct promising to send me a shipping label to return computer. 2 months after the initial conversation.
Step 3. Not get a label.
So yeah, never buy anything from Tiger Direct.

My computer died just before a very important project needed to be finished. I searched around for the best deal with the best price, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I live in a small town where Wal Mart is our only computer connection now that Radio Shack is Sprint.
I found a great super deal at Tiger Direct. I have been doing business with them for over 16 years without ever a hitch. Always there and always helpful.
I ordered the PC and paid for 2nd day delivery. I know the day of the order did not count and I expected the computer on the Friday 2 days after the order had been placed.
I looked in my account and nothing showed shipped. I wrote an email, as they requested. By the end of the day still nothing shipped. I called and the lady said it had been shipped and I should have it. I didn't.
Monday came along and my projects was now due but no computer. I wrote again and then again with NO response. I called again and was very upset with the lady on the other end. I know it was not her fault and I tried to maintain but it was hard. I was going to lose some money plus my reputation.
Tuesday I get a phone call from Tiger with a verification that I placed an order for this machine. Holy crap. You have got to be kidding me. Told her how important it was that I had computer last week.
Upset she contacted a person above her. Oh boy that was fun. He told me that if I read the fine print that they were still within the time frame of the 2nd day shipping. One week later? Bulls**t. How does he figure it is second day seven days later?
I got the computer the next day, on the 8th day. I demanded the extra money returned I paid for 2nd day. They first told me they would not as they were still within their 2nd day guarantee according to their 'fine print'.
I did not want all of my shipping back just the amount i paid for 2nd day. They did finally refund all of my shipping.
I was able to save the job or at least most of it as the person who contracted me was there when I contacted Tiger.
I have to say the computer I got is fantastic. I really enjoy it and it far exceeds my expectations but not worth the hassle.
Solution: read the real fine very tine fine print.

I've been on an intermittent boycott of TigerDirect.com since the early 2000s. Here's the thing: Their competitors continually set benchmarks for site functionality, customer service, and proactive order tracking updates. TD has consistently been behind the ball in all respects. Heck, their site still has the "look and feel" of a late 1990s website. Particularly on the back end. Looks aren't that important, but a website that looks dated often tells a story about a backend that's even more dated.

Every time I've ordered from them (and my order history shows 3 orders since 2006) time-to-ship has been slow, and updates of my order (e.g. "order processed", "order shipped", etc) have been slow as well. The site is run like they just don't care. Or they're still in a. Com boom mindset of web and systems design.

What particularly irked me about my last order is this: It was a snowblower. In case you haven't tried to buy one, certain makes and models are universally sold out at this time. Well, except on TigerDirect's website. The item I wanted was listed as "Ships in 1-3 business days". That would indicate to any reasonable person that it's in stock.

What's worse, they occlude the fact that the order is shipped by a third party. NewEgg and Amazon are completely up front with who the real "seller" is, and which entity will ship the order. On TD you have to click the "details" link next to the shipping estimate to find out that it's a third party. Not knowing that, I hadn't clicked on the "details" link.

OK, shipping by a third party is no big deal. What is a big deal is non-existent inventory management integration with suppliers. It's been 12 days since my order would ship in "1-3 business days", and not a peep from TD or the third party warehouse. My order status has been stuck in "To Drop Shipper" for the entire time.

It boggles my mind why TD would want to attach their reputation to the whims of third party shippers. At the very least if they made that distinction obvious during the ordering process it wouldn't damage their brand quite so much.

I'm not officially done with this site. I've given them a chance every few years for nearly 20 years at this point, and though my orders have been intermittent, the company has been consistently lackluster.

Havent had the best luck with these guys, CPUs sent with bent pins in the past, OEM stuff is packed terribly, but some of the HDDs and SDDs are a steal, perhaps worth the hassle if you are pinching pennies.
