ThomasNet just completed our new website and we are very happy with the results. Our homepage and catalog were totally redone and the look is fresh and modern. The team assigned to our project was always responsive and very helpful. They offered great suggestions and delivered a top notch result.
Completely mislead us, we had a site up for a few years, missed a payment, and boom - site was gone, domain was sold. Not only that but all the money we spent to have the site built was wasted as we lost the rights to the website. Avoid at all costs, the costs are plenty and steep and not worth it.
We have found some good manufacturers and have established relationships. It is a good resource for raw materials, etc. However, some of the manufacturers who are "Thomas Certified" should be "certified" to shut their doors due to malfeasance. We have first hand experience of dealing with a few of these companies that should only be certified to cease and desist. My guess is that these companies are "certified" because they paid, not because they deserve to be. I agree that at least half of the manufacturers answer inquiries. We do enjoy the daily industry updates.
I've utilized Thomas for my business to promote my listing on their platform, and the results were solid and have paid for themselves.
I also know first-hand others who also leverage their marketing services (website design, SEO, digital marketing, etc) and have had AMAZING results. In fact, it was their recommendations that encouraged me to jump in with ThomasNet for my own (super small) business. I don't have the marketing budget to do it right and engage Thomas for their full suite of marketing services, but if you can swing it, I'd HIGHLY highly recommend it. Their staff knows their stuff and handle everything from ebooks and blogs to video content and website redesign (which so many people need help with!).
TL: DR I've had success with them first-hand, and know others who have had stellar results.
We have been extremely disappointed. The leads we have gotten have been a total waste of time. We are a service based business selling to other businesses. We asked to be released from our contract due to non performance on their part and they wouldn't even respond.
The only thing we've gotten of value is a few SEO suggestions from the sales rep. Everything else is a total waste of time.
I was very impressed with the ease of use, content, limitless data and training you can receive by utilizing what is offered to you. A strong product that will help your business if used.
ThomasNet.com provides real value. My company has been using ThomasNet for many years and I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to grow their business.
I just started working for a larger company doing its marketing and I have a great deal of experience in the field. I am savvy with all the leading web platforms and how to make updates on them. I had never even heard of Thomas Net before starting here, and let me tell you there's a reason why! First of all, they use an extremely outdated website creator that is nearly impossible to operate. Which I only found out after WEEKS of asking Thomas Net to give me the back-end log in. They have terrible customer service, pry on less-tech savvy companies that often fall victim to paying them thousands to make any changes for them. When the company could have just went with a private designer, paid them less, and had their unpaid intern doing their updating on wordpress for free.
Whenever I try to apply and publish any changes, it either doesn't work or publishes them differently than how they appeared in the preview... It constantly throws its own alignment-off, and makes it virtually impossible for you to fix. Oh and don't bother calling them to ask for help, unless you want to pay $1500 in tech support! If I could give them -5 stars I would. Stay away!
I really appreciate the different ways to filter for suppliers - we have been using Thomasnet to better understand our target audience.
Poor service - Just want to sell something what is not relevant.
We just loosed money with thomasnet!
So dont think about joining them! It´s just a big scam.
Great search engine for finding and sourcing U.S. suppliers. Easy to navigate and encompasses a lot of supplier information.
We seriously used Thomasnet\ Thomas regional (Big Green Books) for over 50 years! Back before the internet and when the internet was relatively newish, say till 2005 or so, it was probably worth the money to advertise with Thomas. It is definately not worth it anymore. Seriously if you were going to spend 10K a year with Thomas, flush 5K down the toilet and you would have saved yourself 5k and feel better in the end. I hate to say but I believe we flushed 100K+ down the toilet over the last 12 years, 50K down the toilet would have been easier to handle. We are a machine / fab shop as well, which should have been in Thomasnets wheel house. I don't know if I blame them, so much has changed with everything and their formula just doesn't work anymore. Don't walk, but run away from them.
I use ThomasNet Daily because it gives me the ability to turn a cold lead into a reasonable warm lead. It makes you not play mind games with yourself about cold calls. Very good service!
I am new to finding suppliers and ThomasNet helps me narrow down people making great products right here in the USA. I love Made in the USA stuff if I am going to put my logo on it. I have also attended a couple ZOOMs seeing how to use the Thomas Site better, I recommend this because the people are down to earth and make it a better experience to use their site. I'm new and I feel lucky to have found ThomasNet, my Facebook group for entrepreneurs recommended it to me.
ThomasNet helps us to to get digital leads using their many tools such as Web Trax and company overview video. While customers and potential customers search for solutions to their industrial corrosive and high purity concerns they find us and generates a marketing generated lead. The new generation of engineers are looking for answers on the web. Although we have a website of our own the ThomasNet forum has an extended reach to match these searches to our targeted audience. As a retired Army Colonel we would call this Force Multiplier which strengthens our ability to win battles with overwhelming firepower. The partnership with ThomasNet, our internal marketing and sales team increases our ability to win more. I will take any advantage I can get to differentiate our business from our competitors. ThomasNet does that. ThomasNet team offers webinars and conferences to help teach the latest in digital marketing and lead generation. Their sales Rep really looks out for their accounts best interest and ensures you receive and understand the latest offers. They also helped us spot light new products such as our XXP280 in photo. Their news letter helps to inform us of many industrial topics which may generate new leads and opportunities.
I found this webinar helpful, it will help me to find vendors to purchase new test equipment at my company.
We had a sales rep come in and give us the pitch... We said we didn't want to move forward past the three month agreement they had us sign unless they showed us how it works and leads they generate... Around the three month mark the sales rep went MIA... Only to resurface to at around 4 months time to give us passwords and logins and show us what it can do... We told him that we were not interested and did not intend to sign up as he had fumbled everything already. He said let me see what i can do... i will get you a few months free so you see more clearly what we can do for your company..., he than tried to give us three months on the back end of a one year contract... Long story short we were passed to a regional manager who agreed that all the info the sales rep had given to us was false. That he would cancel contract the next day. 3 weeks and countless calls he explained he can't do anything to just go to court and that we would win so what's the problem... WHAT? This isn't how you win clients... With lies and deceits... Please stay away from them... I have a 8000 collections put on me for something they never delivered and nothing given... How do companies like this exist in this day and age #scam #thomasnet
Just a big word of warning regarding ThomasNet. I replaced another marketing person, and am reviewing new and 7 years of annual contracts. ThomasNet charged between 7-$10K per year but when I took the list of companies TN says that they referred to us over the last 7 years, no one here recognizes any of them as former or current OEM buyers. They have provided us with very little other than white 3-ring binders for nearly $80K. Others are right, use an independent entity to create your website, and Google Adwords to target your internet ad buys.
Also, based on personal experience, the company stodge replying on this site ("Mike H.") is entirely wrong on each post he's made (and he clearly needs someone to tell him about identity theft). Curious how his words seem lifted from their site or their now very outdated contracts. UPDATE: I've now pulled and reviewed all 7 years worth of contracts, and like the books that predate their site, neither their 'internet marketing solutions' nor their contracts have changed very little. Ah, heck, the internet hasn't changed much over the last 7 years.
If you are a manufacturer, DO NOT use this business to advertise. They will rope you in with a presentation and never contact you oh and your locked into a year with no results. Very bad.
Been a member many years. Not a manufacturer so don't use much. But it gets better and better. Good for prospecting for manufacturing leads.
