“The worst Thai forum”

brian s.
10/24/21

Started off well but soon people were being bullied off and nothing done about it while at the same time imposing some very odd rules. You cannot post any media in Thai without subs in English, the only forum I have ever seen this on. The explanation reads like an excuse- it's an English forum,- about Thailand and with Thai in it's name. The mods are worse than on Asean now which many members left in the false wish that The Thaiger would be better, that would not have been hard, but it's not

Tip for consumers:
Don't bother with it, they are not interested in Thailand, it's culture or it's people

Thethaiger was a relatively decent source of local information. Nothing spectacular, but decent local news gathered locally and from otherThai sources and could offer advice for a restaurant or hotel. It seems to work as a platform from which it refers business to third parties like insurance or mobile phone. Once a "news" source does this it loses any right to call itself independent or unbiased. Thaiger gives the impression that it's now more of an advertising facility using the news to attract referrals. As a result, I no longer see the promoted business as worth a look. There is an attempt to give immigration regulation advice but I do not believe that the people doing so are qualified, i. E are legally accredited. The website recently opened a forum and with much excitement, a number of people previously banned at another website (Thai Visa Forum) joined up. There is a small group of people who monopolize the forum and who promote their conspiracy claims. Included is a group of Trump supporters. The bias and hate that flows is offensive. After reading a few posts. The latest being crazy claims against the government's mask policy, it is apparent that the Thaiger forum is undergoing some growing pains and would benefit from some younger moderators, e.g. under the age of 40 and women. IMO, the website has a bad vibe to it now. Hopefully, they clean up their forum.

Tip for consumers:
Use common sense.
