THIEVES
November 14, 2017

Textnow charged my card for service I cancelled and refused to put my money back because they "don't have record of cancellation"... I CANCELLED ONLINE... guess my cancellation was stuck in the "cloud"! They are THIEVES!

After initially buying a monthly plan/sim, i followed all the steps several times and it wouldnt activate. Customer service email took 5 days to respond, and it was vague and unhelpful. I ended up calling 3 different times, and was put on hold for about 30-45 minutes each time. I also talked to the agent who said "everything looks good on my end" but the phone still didnt work. I figured out about 3 weeks after initial purchase my particular iemi number isnt even compatible. I requested a refund for it since it never worked, they told me it was sent but its been a week and i doubt they even refunded it. Also very difficult to tell if your monthly plan is active or cancelled. No wonder the hold time on calls is so long, because so many customers are probly having issues and getting pissed off

Text now not good
October 12, 2017

I have a text now phone but no service. So I wanted to use it on sprint. It can't be unlocked. They have put their software in it and you can't get rid of it. Stay away from TEXT NOW.

No group chats
September 1, 2017

The app is overall pretty good, the only problem is you can't be added to group chats unless the person that starts the chat also has the app

I bought a subscription to get rid of the ads. Guess what? Still got ads. Even in the middle of my calls which caused my calls to break up. DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY. GOOGLE PLAY WILL NOT REFUND YOU AS IT DOES NOT MEET WITH THEIR REFUND POLICY! Hope i can help someone avoid a headache. Support sucks. They kept asking the same questions and I got no where

My phone headphone jack recently quit working, so I contacted Textnow, and they said to send it back, and that it would be free. They sent me a label and I sent it out on Monday, and already, two days later, I received it back, fixed. Also, everything else about the company is amazing, especially their high quality service at such a low price. Thank you so much Textnow!

Texting online is great! But their phones are worthless. Have to use text now app everyday to get updates. Calls don't connect, person answers phone and cannt hear you. On line chat for technical service. Try using 1-800 and wait for over an hour to get through to tech serve and they drop you. If I could get a phone that works for 24 hours, would be a miracle.

Poo
August 30, 2016

I have terrible service, my calls are always dropped or rejected. My phone freezes up just for the hell of it. At any time it feels like it. I just don't understand.

A friend told me about this site and couldn't believe texting was free and when I checked it out, it turned out to be free. I was without a phone for a while when I heard about this and it works great on my laptop. Not sure about phones. It also looks like I can make voice calls also for free with my laptop. I haven't tried it yet.
So far it has been great.

Bad, Bad Idea...
November 9, 2015

BEWARE: Service uses the Sprint network. Calls hardly ever connect, and when they do there's a good 2 to 3 second delay between talking and the other person hearing you. I have tried calling using Wi-fi and on mobile data, neither way works. I have checked the coverage map for my area and it is listed as "good" coverage, I'd hate to see fair or poor service. $19/mo is too much for such lousy service. If you're looking to save some money, you'd be better off getting pay as you go service elsewhere.

Avoid!
October 2, 2015

Things you're review missed:

1) You must text every 2 days or you can lose your phone number. Forgot? Sucks to be you
2) Customer support is non-exisitent. The FAQ's are generic, support pages are for a small subset of problems, and try and contact someone
3) The phone comes with no documentation on how to setup, how to use. See above about no help

Based on reviews, we made the mistake of buying a phone (at least we were only out $20) and plan from Textnow. No one can text to the phone (brilliant, right? A company called Textnow and you can't text to it), and the phone can't make calls (error: Sorry, we only support calls to North America. We are in N. America, we were calling N. America).

You get what you pay for. In the case of Textnow, you get less, far less. Avoid this company.

This app was the best
October 4, 2014

This app was the best. It has absolutely no limit to the amount of characters I can type in a text. It let's me describe things in extreme detail where I couldn't with textplus because of the character limit. It also doesn't freeze like Textplus tends to. This app is WAY better than Textplus

I just got this app the other day and read some of the reviews that some of you with kindle fire wasn't able to receive picture text. Don't worry you can, but there is a trick... lol... if you press the settings button and go into My Profile you will see a Texting Address. It will kind of look like a email address. Whoever is sending you a picture text has to send it to the texting address not your texting phone number. Hope this has helped those who have kindle fire. I rated this app a 4 because I don't like having too refresh the page to see if I got a new text. Also the notification sound doesn't work when I get a new text. This app could use a little more work, but is very handy too have.

I downloaded this app to really see if it was better then textPlus. I ran a few tests to see the difference. Here are the results. Results are for the Kindle Fire HD.
PROs for both:
-They both send free text msgs.
-They can send picture msgs.
-They can receive picture msgs
