Dont even waste your time with this app, I used it daily for business and it would change my number or say it expired due to inactivity, such a crock. Not to mention I didn't receive half the texts or calls people were claiming to send

Scammer's dream

If you're a scammer, this is your dream company. You can scam all you want, and no one will do a thing to stop you. Anyone who uses this service is probably doing it so they can't be caught and prosecuted. This company needs to be sued for allowing scammers to get away with fraud!

Barely works

IF your call actually connects, ALL call quality is very poor. Tunneled audio able to hear other conversations.

A MINIMUM of 50% of your calls will be dropped.

Takes a good 30 seconds for calls to connect, e.g. you're saying, "hello, hello, hello" before someone hears you.

It affects your wifi and somehow makes it MUCH slower.

Very very slow to load, crashes the phone over half the time. This program works well from a pc, but definitely not reliable to use on a cell phone!

Run! Run far away!

I was a customer for years and the customer service got worse and worse the longer I stayed then when I contacted them about a phone that was under warranty that was broken I was told I was lying about it! I have no need to lie they just didn't want to hold up their end of the bargain. I was told they stand firm and I could go with another company! WOW totally professional guys.

Bamboozled customer

I used the free TextNow app for several months to try it out. After which I used that phone number for Google and everything else that required two-factor authentication. I then arranged for premium TextNow account access and still got hit with ads. They told me they were sending me a SIM card which I paid for separately and never got. Weeks go by as I'm waiting for this and the next thing I know my phone number has been changed. Now I can't get into any of my accounts and I can't get my phone number back. They took my money and I can't get a refund. Now I can't even access customer service because they don't exist. This company is a ghost and the whole thing is a sham. God knows what they're doing with our private information? How convenient for them to change things when they have what they want and there's nothing you can do about it...

TextNow has been terrible to work with. I pay for a premium account and unlimited data. Half the time my texts and calls never go through or the call gets dropped. Recently I've been trying to switch carriers, they have been a NIGHTMARE during this process. The "costumer support staff" are rude and have no idea what the are talking about. I've been waiting on them for 18 DAYS to finish porting over my number. When my carrier sent them the ticket for them to release the number they ignored it so the port never went through. I had my carrier send over another request for the number to be ported out and they completely denied they ever got the first one after I contacted them to make sure they would actually respond this time. They are liars and crooks and they will do anything to make it so you don't port out your number and continue service with them. STAY AWAY

Bad service

I been using the free service since my phone was sent back to get a replacement. This service is bad you can't hardly text people or when you make calls some people tell me they can't hear me or I sound far away. And the app only works on WiFi only no data. See I been reading a lot of reviews and when I seen nothing but bad I believe each person. See these people are scammers money sucking monsters they don't care about nothing not even a human being its all about money. This app kept feeling me about the good deals they have I said yeah right. The adds are crazy annoying and they want money ha! They will never get a penny out of me. This crappy service is only gôod when you don't have a phone and you need one and its free,. I only use the free service only when I need it I already have a phone carrier and its sure not this company. If I can't go talk to someone in person and all you get is poor customer service then I closing all my accounts..

Textnow has No Phone support and the only way to get in contact with someone who has zero knowledge of anything is through chat on certain days and hours.

They have horrible customer support, please dont bother with their service.

DO NOT EVER USE. Customer service is literally a joke. 3rd graders could read and type out their "technical support" scripts faster than the actual people hired. If you ever have billing issues, you're screwed. Have any real technical issues and don't have a brain, you're screwed.

PAY THE EXTRA FOR A REAL CARRIER!

THEFT!

I bought one of their phones and 1 month of talk and text only. It was great for 3 weeks and then they disconnected my service cuz and wanted me to pay for another month sorry but stealing is stealing its not the amount of money 9.99 divided by 4 is about 2.50 its the point of the matter i paid for a months worth of service not 3 weeks another problem is with talk and text only 611 doesnt work so there is no way to contact them from the phone they sold

Account creation doesnt work, Your password will not work. So you try to reset it, Just to find out that password reset doesn't work either. Finally you contact tech support which is a bot, only to finally find a button for a live person who is dumber than the stinking bot. They can't fix your account unless you can verify the information that you havent even put in there yet. What a pack of morons.

Doubly charged and contact through their chat window. Keep saying that I should reach out the bank. The agent named Aaron simply closed the window on his end. Horrible customer service. Don't use this, you will be stressful.

Update on 6/29/2020: I got a referral credit of $50. But they took it away without any notice. I chatted (again) with Aaron G. He was not aware of his company's system. He then closed the chat on his end and now there is no customer service available. What an autocratic company! Don't waste your time and money for this non-sense customer service.

Don't even think in the pay version of TextNow, horrible customer service, never answered email's, no answers on the chat and no phone customer service. They charge you and then when you have a problem there is no help at all. I jusr cancel my service and file a charge dispute with my bank. Stay away!, Be aware!.

My son and I both started using TextNow almost two years ago when it was only $13.99 a month. We were very pleased until about 8 months into it when we could no longer reach live support without making an appointment which is difficult to remember if you have a life which we both do. We returned the phones ( 4 of them) and eventually received a refund and a notice acknowledging our account had been cancelled per our request. They have since continued to take out money from our two accounts each month. I have written and attempted to keep those ridiculous phone appointments which should tell you there is a lot of dissatisfaction if they need to now make so many appointments as satisfied customers do not need to call. Our bank wants to charge us $35.00 to file a dispute even though we have all the documentation to verify our claims.
We switched to TracFones as a temporary substitute and discovered for our usage we only need to pay an average of a little over $6.00 a month each since we learned to turn our data off when away from home. Don't buy into TextNow and their hype about cheap service and cheap phones. They are the worst I have ever had. It is too bad because they started off as being the best. Sadly... I think greed took over.

This is first hand true real information as of 10. 19. 18.
1. Used gift card to purchase phone with service promo until the end of the year. Card was rejected but funds were taken anyway. Theft outright!
2. After contacting bank phone was sent right away to avoid fraud prosecution.
3. No real customer phone number to speak to someone about account or support only chat. Hiding behind computers
4. The company is located in Canada which is outside the jurisdiction of USA law which is not worth fighting unless your wealthy.
5. They tried to access my gift card funds without my consent yesterday but were blocked. Another theft attempt.
6. App is always trying to dominate my phone and keeps resetting itself until I disable all google garbage crap from the phone and took away all permissions except messaging.
7. Too many friggin ads which is supposed to prompt you to upgrade. NOT!
8. Wouldn't port my number in and gave some lame $#*! excuse of why they couldn't do it.

Final thoughts: these bastards are out right thieves and you take a great risk in giving them your real bank account info thus the gift card which is controllable from your end.
Once funds are depleted the number is toasted. That's why these A**holes won't accept them as payment for phones or services. Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware.

In my opinion this company sucks big $#*! stinky elephant balls STAY AWAY!

Charge of $69.99 (in picture) was never authorized making this company straight thieves! (tried to sneak $70 bucks of my funds behind my back but were blocked!)

This program is utter trash. Even for a free service, the ads are excessive and overbearing (progressively getting worse as the years pass). They also use click fraud tactics to gain ad revenue. The service constantly lags, the program itself is slow and or unresponsive, it kills batteries quickly due to ad pushing, the forced emoji system causes typing problems because it constantly pops up every few words (even with stickers turned off), disconnections or jittery calls are the usual and the support staff are utterly useless. They provide nonsensical and time wasteful generic responses with scripts that don't help at all. They tell you to contact them so they can assist you, but it falls on deaf ears. If you ask for features it falls on deaf ears and blind eyes. Premium service is also a joke. The ads come through anyway even though you pay a premium to not get ad blasted. You also cannot erase your call history of all numbers you've dialed. You can delete conversations, but not numbers you have dialed. They keep a digital record. The company also collects information they don't like to discuss.
