I have been using TextNow for 6 years and it's terrible. Barley anything has been improved in all of those years. You can't send videos, you can't send more than one picture at once, there is a new ad every time you open the app and now you can't even delete them from your messages. Oh and did I meantion that after they FINALLY made it so you can be in group chats without getting a bunch of individual texts, it still doesn't even tell you who everyone is in the group chat. It just says their number which is WAY too confusing. Also my phone never rings so I never know when I'm getting calls and it's the worst. Sometimes I miss really important calls because my phone doesn't ring. You can't use TextNow without WiFi and the list of cons just goes on and I on. I do not reccomend AT ALL. You can find much better. (Oh and they just changed the one thing I liked about it which was the app's icon). Ughhhhh
I would never buy a phone or plan from Textnow.com. This company is a complete fraud on what you pay for and receive. I had numerous problems with this company but the last straw was i downgraded to a $27.99 month plan in August because at that time that's what i could afford. On Sept. 29th i went to upgrade my plan for more data and they offered a $39.99 month plan for unlimited data which is what i needed. So within days i paid to upgrade my plan in a weeks time period i paid nearly $70.00. I had full internet access until a week after i upgraded my internet no longer worked. It took two days to speak to a customer service rep through live chat everytime i tried i would get a rep that would click off our chat or would not respond. I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy from Textnow and once my plan ends on Oct. 31st i will no longer be with this service.
Unreliable, contradictory, not living up to what they pretend to offer. You must be very vigilant in dealing with them for your own security.
Thought this was a great deal 40 a month for unlimited. The unlimited is is 23GB LTE which is usual for unlimited, but usually after you use the 23GB you get a slower speed 3g or 4g. With this company you only get 2g, which is so slow you just give up on trying to do anything. On top of all of this I can't make a phone call. The people I call can't hear me. Twice I tryed customer support. Was told both times I would hear from then in 24 hours. First time I never got a response, 2nd time I call again after 4 days, this time I got a response. They told me I should check their web site and see if I could find something there that would resolve the problem. I also told them if the problem wasn't resolved I'd have to get a different company. Their response to that was they were sorry if I had to leave. This is probably the worst customer support I've ever seen. Do yourself a favor and pay a little more and go with Cricket or Metro Pcs.
Zero customer support for the most part. I have waited five days for my number to be ported. I tried contacting Textnow via chat. I waited at least 10 minutes. After I stopped away for 30 seconds, my turn can and I was disconnected. I tried again, and now I cannot even get to the starting point of having an online chat.

Customer Service is terrible, hard to reach them by chat, even when first in queue, call quality is very problematic, etc. keep away from them.
I have the Text Now free service and my husband the paid service. It is horrible. We stay with it because it's cheap. Half the time I can't make call when I want. It deletes the names of my phone contacts randomly. The names that I put in on the computer don't carry over to my phone app so I have to put in every contact twice. I also get calls and texts from strangers, so they are selling my number. Reception is terrible and sometimes get a text a day later than it was sent. Call are dropped in the middle of talking and I apologize a lot.
We xont have a lot of option when it comes to wifi texting apps. This one sure isnt good. Constant crashes. Hangs up all the time. Seens these days any monkey can make a app n it gets put on google apps.
I use this app all the time when I have wifi but no cell service. The cell service in my town sucks. Textnow is a life saver!
If you're ever considering textnow, don't. They provide horrible data service and voice quality with even worse customer support.
Worst app Ive ever used. Phone call quality is terrible and doesnt allow texts to be sent or received half of the time. My account was flagged for terms of use violation not once but twice and yet not one agent can tell me what the exact reason was nor can they fix my account. They refuse to escalate my complaint to a supervisor and i was basically told it wasnt worth their time and the convo was a waste of their time. Way to go with the steller customer service. I lost so many valuble contacts for my business that its devastating to my income.
Don't waste your time! Use Dingtone or Google Voice. My number was cancelled in a week because they claimed violation. That's a load of crap because I received ONE LOUSY business text and my number was gone! I use the service to get webinar text alerts, THAT IS ALL! Totally unreliable garbage. (after talking with support, they cancelled my NEW account which I just opened yesterday. Why? Because the support guy was mad? I give up. Bad experience here.
IT SPAMS YOUR PHONE SO MUCH IT INTERRUPTS THE CALLS AND CAUSES THEM TO DROP!
It does not matter how strong your wifi is, it constantly screws up. You just simply cant use it.
On 2-07-18 i received a i phone from text now.com that i did not order. I never heard of text now so i went on internet to find out whats going on. I found thier customer support phone number and out of 6 options was not able to talk to some one. Went to there support center and tried to chart with some one. No luck wanting to do the right thing i sent the phone back to there office in canada at a cost of $32.01 on 2-14-18 i received a phone call from u. P.s. Stating canada would not accept the value for one dollar. I told them my problem and they said they would look into it. They called me back with a phone number that i could call and speak to someone. I spoke to a very nice lady who told me what was going on. Someone orderd this phone useing my name address, phonenumber, e-mail address and my mastercard. I told her it was not me who orded this phone she cancelled the order of 34.98 but could not refund me my cost to send the phone back because i was not able to reach them for a shipping label. I notified my bank and cancelled my credit card. Text now also tried to charge me $7.00 for add. Ups fees to end this i should have never tried to do the right thing and send them there phone back.if this ever happens to you keep the phone they are nothing but crooks in my opinion
I was using the TextNow $13.99/mo Sprint based service, it worked OK except for coverage in my area. Tried both their CDMA Sprint and GSM T-Moble. I did port my old number over to them. I switched to Freedompop's annual $49.99/year service. They have lousy texting so I use TextNow's free service through my Freedompop data AT&T service (good coverage). Group texting with TextNow or Freedompop is a bad idea. My only complaint with this setup is the TextNow app freezes up about 15% of the time.
If MintSim had coverage in my area, I would be using them.
I can't believe this piece of $#*! garbage app. Worse than two dixie cups with a string. It actually INTERFERES with communication and the menus are filthy intrusive and the phone log is ridiculously arranged by, apparently, MORONS!
I tried to send an email to get help and it auto replied their online automatic robot and NOTHING!
You cannot get help from this company whatever it is, but i highly recommend not even bothering with it

Terrible service... couldn't text... could make calls but not receive any... ported in my number I had for years... then when I wanted to leave them, they wouldn't release it,,, trying to save a penny cost me a dollar... not worth the time and effort; cost more in aggravation... no customer service to speak of... their "chat" is a joke... you'll be on line waiting for a response that will never come... was on hold for 25 minutes and then they gave erroneous info when I told them I needed my account # to transfer to another carrier... DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY... CROOKS
I have been stalked and harassed for two years because of companies like this. I complain every night and they do absolutely nothing except send back a scripted message about how they are sorry and I should contact my local authorities. They will not even assist the Officer who is working on the case. They do not care about my safety and have lack of concern for anyone except the criminals who use this service. I have contacted the FCC, the FBI, and new stations. This will not end well... for them.
The guy who answers the phone asked me every question at least 6 times, like he is half deaf or something and then he says oh well you will have to give me all of your information again because I do not see it in there, so I was like are you serious his best response was unacceptable. He was a total moron the only best thing about this conversation is that he said he would cancel my service and refund my money. Do not use them, I ordered service 6 days ago, the money came out immediately but still, no service

Answer: Well well well, u pushed the right button. I don't trust them at all. They tried hardly to get a photo of any of my government IDs, together with a photo of my credit card pretending to verify my identity and they rejected all other means for verification including calling my bank.
