I like the fact that you can work at your own pace, but the pay is insulting for the work to be done. Textbroker is like a "sweatshop" of the digital age. You have to do some significant amounts of research at times, and can take some time to complete the article (under the pressure of time sensitivity, usually 24 hours)) for a very low pay. It's too aggravating for the pay I get. I am sure there are better freelance writing opportunities out there. Textbroker is the "had to start somewhere" type, but cannot stay in it long-term.
One of my favorite things about the TB system is you can choose the quality of the writers. 5-stars usually means very little editing (if any). I've been able to put together a team of quality writers who understand the different markets I serve and are available to do the work in a timely manner.
I have written 60 articles and after so many years they closed my account because of one article they were not satisfied with. My articles in the past few months have been rated excellent by clients. I am very disappointed in TextBroker!
Poor management practices. Management does not value writers at all, and most of the writers who praise Textbroker fawn over management in the hopes that management will refer their names to managed and exclusive writing teams.
I am appalled by management's utter disregard for its writers. On top of that, the pay is dismal.
From other reviews, it seems that site is either hit or miss. However, in the past couple months that I have been writing for them, I have had a great experience. There are many different categories of articles to choose from. You can find articles that pay a decent chunk of money if you look and are willing to do the work within the given deadlines. They pay on a weekly basis and always have work from different clients to choose from. The only drawback is the time it takes for some editors to edit and accept content. Other than that, this site is very fair to their writers.
I've just recently started but it's going along pretty well. Some articles require a frequency of a certain word or phrase, which is supposed to help for SEO google analytics, but, this can be challenging if you want to use them and write professionally. I've come across (without naming the actual product directly) an article that required me to write "Tylenol buy" three times. Not "buy Tylenol," which would be much easier to implement. So I had to figure out how to squeeze that in with some lame line like: "Make sure to check out the generic brands if you want to save money when you Tylenol buy."
So my advice is to be picky with your articles and save some face.
You get what you pay for, and the bar is set low. We've had an unbelievable amount of highly rated writers completely fail the most basic of articles. We are planning to start paying two writers for the same article just to be able to get some quality. There is something wrong with the rating system for sure.
Hi Andrew! Thank you for your feedback. It looks like you are working with the same two authors. If you feel you are receiving content that is below the quality level of the authors you are using, we encourage you to find another author to work with. In addition, please always feel free to reach out to Client Services at clients@textbroker.com with your concerns so that we may do a quality check on the author!
I am just getting started and I am anything but impressed. It was highly recommended to me by my college professor to write professionally, so I decided to check out the site. My writing was rated a three, and there was only one job available in the three or less range. The topic was not something I would be able to do justice... so, what a waste of time...
I love textbroker. We used a service for our blogging and social media and it was expensive and of poor quality. Since we started with textbroker, we get quality material with little to no need to edit, quick turnaround and headache free content sourcing. I'd recommend textbroker to anyone looking to build an attention grabbing and seo friendly blog for their business.
At first i thought i could gain great writing experience on textbroker with supposed reviews and all but while it was exciting at first i came it see it wasnt all its hyped to be. First off my first short article i had to write to recieve a grade put me at 3 stars which I remained for months until they reviewed my first 5 articles they bumped me down to a 2 and never reviewed any more again. How am i supposed to improve or even know if im improving when its been almost 5 damn months of no feedback there are hardly any 2 star orders mostly just 4 star so you cant become a better writer and you cant make real income its just a waste of time on both ends really dont bother wasting your time TRUST me
In the past I have used Upwork for projects but had been referred to textbroker by someone who has many articles written. I felt very removed from the process when using textbroker, like I had no say in who would ultimately write my article. I felt like the price was somewhat high considering we had the article written, just need a more businessy tone... they maybe added 50 words and moved a paragraph or two and it cost $46... I will be using upwork in the future or another site.
Hi Sara,
Thank you for your review of our services! I'm sorry to hear that you felt removed from the process. Should you continue to use our services in the future, we would recommend using the Author Search feature to locate a suitable author of your choosing. This allows you to choose the author you would like to complete your order as you would place the order with only that author as a Direct Order. Please reach out to us at clients@textbroker.com if you would like further instructions on how to use the Author Search feature or place a Direct Order!
I've been using Textbroker for over 6 years now, first as a writer and then as a client. I've had consistent great articles and press releases from writers. I'm so glad to have one website I can go to for the content I need. I've connected with several good writers that deliver consistent articles. The platform is easy to use and I especially like the templates I can save for easy repeat ordering.
Hi Gabrielle! Thanks so much for the detailed review! We are grateful to have had you as both an author and a client on our site :)
I worked for this lame company for 1 week. They hired me for a coordinator job and had me editing. They didn't provide any training to me for my position nor did they have a computer that was up to its needs and updated with the proper software needed to do my daily job! Total waste of time!
I have hired these writers a few times for web content but the last time was just ridiculous. I selected one of the higher levels of quality and what I got was complete garbage. Seriously... it was obviously written by someone who was just trying to stuff the article with words to max out the budget.
To give you an example. The assignment was to write an "about us" paragraph. The first line was "we are a co-ed group of professionals" <-- as if that matters at all. A completely dumb statement to add about a company in my opinion. Have you ever heard of a company that was strictly men or women? I complained and rejected the article but apparently the fine team at textbroker.com thought that it was a great article because I was told that my complaint wasn't valid and the article was accepted on my behalf!
GARBAGE QUALITY. STAY AWAY!
I've used TextBroker on and off for several years but "took a break" a couple years ago since the content wasn't what I was looking for quality wise. This week, I decided to give it a shot because I needed some work done in a pinch and over the course of 10+ articles every one of them was exactly what I was looking for both in terms of editorial quality, style, and research. I'll definitely be using their writers more often in the future!
1. The passport registration is just horrible - long, very insecure and not understandable.
2. The process of accepting/reviewing the order is so misleading! I wanted the author to just make few corrections to the order, so clicked - Revise and gave feedback. Out of the sudden, the whole article is gone and I got completely new one, which is a piece of *, then review all over again, and again, complete waste of time:/
3. The user interface is super confusing, visibly not tested nor created with UX in mind. Is that even a technology company?

Hi Ewelina! Thank you for your feedback! Our verification process is in place to protect yourself, account holders and Textbroker from fraud, and has proven to be quite successful! I'm sorry to hear that you didn't receive the content that you wanted from the first author you worked with. When you send a revision request, the author will have 24 hours to comply. If they do not submit the revised text within the 24 hours, the order will automatically be returned to the order pool so that another author may complete your order. If you ever have any questions about how to use our site, please feel free to reach out to Client Services at clients@textbroker.com or via live chat from within your account!
I've used textbroker as a client actually submitting requests for articles to be written. They provide a good interface for managing your article writing assignments and for defining the requirements that you have for the assignment (as the client requesting an article to be written).
There are other services out there like this. Textbroker is one of the better ones.
I have been a writer with Textbroker for three weeks. I started as at 3 star level and after submitting my first five, they jumped me to 4 star rating. My first 40 articles was accepted with no issues. All of a sudden, I got a revision request because I did not have "voice" in my writing and I had too many facts. First of all, the client instructed to do research so of course I'm going to put facts and evidence to support my claim. After already taking hours of researching to insure high quality finish work I became extremely frustrated. It was a 940 word article so I wasn't getting anymore than $13 to write it. It wasn't worth it. I cancelled it. I was absolutely not going to revise anything after I took so long to write it in the first place.
Clients expect so much for so little pay. Im going somewhere else that will pay me what my high-quality research and writing is worth. Good-bye text broker.
I ordered a press release. Order was ignored. I emailed support and was told that the writers can decide if they want to accept or reject assignments. I thought it was canceled due to the response of support. I had the order fulfilled by another company. That release was published and distributed. 63 days later, textbroker fulfilled the original order. 63 days! I went to close my account but they have a no refund policy. I've found better writers on craigslist.
The one good thing I can say about textbroker is that getting paid is easy. I've never experienced any issues in that area. However, that is basically where the good ends. The rate is ridiculously low. You'd probably make more just taking a lengthy walk around your neighborhood, looking for loose change. Sometimes there will be good topics to write about, but for the most part your choices will be about hemmeroids, penile enhancement and where to score cheap pharmaceuticals online. Their clients also don't want to pay, so theyll ask for a miracle to be crammed into 300 words. Also, it doesn't matter if you've written 8000, level 4 articles for them. All it takes is a few poorly rated ones and you're demoted. Before agreeing to work for textbroker, I suggest really taking some time to consider that. Can you imagine producing over 8000 assignments all at a 4-rating, but a mere three articles will be what they'll determine your worth is? Garbage company.

Answer: Hello Sherryle. When you sign up with Textbroker, you essentially become a ghostwriter. You'll need a PayPal account as that is how the company pays on a weekly basis. You don't get personal credit for the content because you're writing on the behalf of clients. Jobs are placed in the queue that you can accept if you wish. Once you complete the job and the client accepts the work, you are credited the money. Every Thursday night, you manually accept payment into your PayPal account and are paid on Fridays. You will need a valid form of ID - since it is a legitimate company operating out of Las Vegas. Some people have a problem with that, but they file taxes and send 1099s just like any other US business. It's no different than applying for a job in your local town - if you live in the US. They have a trial period when you first sign up to determine your skill level. If you're an exceptional writer, you can start at level 4 - which makes more money per word. Personally, I started at level 3 and worked my way up. The best way to maximize the experience is to be picky on the jobs you take and sign up for any active teams you can. Team Orders usually pay higher and have a greater volume of work. Some can keep you busy until judgement day. If an order is too confusing or has questionable requirements, move on to something else. You'll experience less problems that way. If you develop a good report with Open Order clients, you can attract Direct Orders. These are some of the most lucrative orders you can get because you set the pay per word. In the time I have been writing with the company, I've attracted quite a few Direct Order clients. I've been working with Textbroker since 2012 and have completed more than 4,000 orders. On average, I make around $15 per hour when I actually sit down to write. Working from home has a lot of distractions :). With one particular team, I can make $50 in less than an hour, but those orders go pretty quick as there are more than 100 authors in that team. Keep your profile updated and filled out completely. When clients and team leaders search the database for authors, your skills and interests will be how they find you. I hope I was helpful and good luck. Take advantage of the author forums. There's a lot of good people that can help you out - such as myself.
