TaskRabbit has a rating of 1.3 stars from 703 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with TaskRabbit most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next day. TaskRabbit ranks 80th among Service Marketplace sites.
I had scheduled to have a well rated tasker complete a job 2 weeks in advance. He requested all the specifics which I gave him in great detail. 2 hours prior to the scheduled started he cancelled on me stating he doesn't have a stud finder when he knew what the job entailed well in advance. I tried calling TaskRabbit and they stated there was nothing they can do. Took the day off and they waisted my time. I'll never use them in the future.
This company has no customer-service mindset at all. I've hired two taskers who messed up the jobs, and in both instances, TaskRabbit charged me anyway. In the second instance, the Tasker did such a bad job that I had to completely redo the job, and TaskRabbit only offered me a $70 credit on a $200 total charge. Not only that, they told me to dispute the charge with my bank, and then proceeded to aggressively defend the charge in communication with my bank. Horrible company. Will never use it again.
I wanted a tasker to mount two towel bars on a tile wall, because I had no idea how to do it myself. Insert Task Rabbit. At no point did the tanker express concerns and then had the audacity to keep going once it butchered tile number one! No no, but F@#k no! Just don't it!
I hired Sasha Kohen to complete 3 tasks. She completed 2 and said she needed a better part to hang my light fixtures She left and never came back. She did not return my phone call. Taskrabbit took way too much money out for what was done and did not check with me to even verify the work. Never Again! I feel lied too and ripped off.
Two issues:
1. The arrival of the tasker was booked and confirmed for Saturday Oct 7th at 9.00AM. At about 11.00 having not received any information I tried to contact the tasker multiple times without any success. After a long time I was told he would be able to come at 2.00pm. Past that time again no arrival and no news till after 3.00PM to let me know he would be able to come at about 4.00PM.
2. The tasker mounted the drawer and just when the work was completed he told us that the unit was damaged. Then he left. At that point I called Ikea for a replacement and sent them a photo of the damage. They told me they could only do the swap if the unit was dis-mounted. Why did the tasker mount the drawer if he saw it was damaged? Clearly he should have not but for taking the money of the service. That's dishonest behaviour.
Now I found myself with a damaged unit already mounted, Ikea asking me to dismount it and I have also already been debited for the tasker's service.
Needless to say how poor the overall experience has been...
My TV Mount Fell off My Wall just over 30 days after being installed in my living room. I reached out to customer service and they said because it was just over 30 days since the task took place, their "Happiness Pledge" does not cover the previous service and there is nothing they can do.
I am a first time user of Task Service and spent over $400 dollars to have my TV mounted. It was mounted in the living room of my new apartment for just over 30 days. When it fell it caused additional damage to my wall and I injured my finger in the process of fully taking it down. I am in the sales and service industry myself, and I understand deadlines of coverages, but I also understand to be a good service and maintain a reputation there is a time and place to provide leniency.
My Tasker knew there were steel studs he could use to mount the TV into the wall and made the decision to just use the drywall. When a TV is mounted it should never come off the wall no matter if its been over 30 days or 30 years. I believe this extremely unfair that I lost my time and money because of this.
If anybody asks me if they should use Task Rabbit for any service, I will make sure I share my story and experience with them, and to suggest a different service provider. I know I am only one person, but when a company prides themselves on service and customer satisfaction, every customer matters. I hope that people read this and share my experience. If this gets resolved, I will update this story to show task rabbit has addressed and fixed what happened.
This is one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Ended up sending him away before he did the work as he was not prepared for the job and wanted to grossly over charge me. They sell it as by the hour but it's by the "task". Misleading and deceptive and not experienced "taskers".
I was charged over $105 for a trust and support fee, but received zero support when the Tasker canceled the appointment 3 hours after he was supposed to have shown up! This site is a rip-off.
Hired TaskRabbit to clear a minor plumbing leak. Tasker made a big mistake, causing a flood in the house, damaging 100 SF of flooring. Company would accept no responsibility and even refused to refund the fees. Use this services at your own risk. They offer no guarantees, and their "Happiness Policy" is a joke. Very dissatisfied customer!
Hi. I have hired taskers a few times and i also know people who work as taskers. No one on that platform is licensed or insured for what they do (if it requires license like plumbing or electrical) they are all rookies who don't know much. Taskrabbit encourages them to lie and say they have license. Don't use this app. They are a scam as well. They charge you extra for service fees also they take a cut from taskers wage. And they do nothing for it in return. Their customer service is also horrible.
Last year I bought pax wordrobe I used taskrabbit tasker took 5 plus hours and was leaving out parts saying it's not needed. This year I bought a next pax wordrobe decided to try taskrabbit again 1/2 hour before my job I contacted tasker because I didn't get a call he told me he can't come he on a next job. Called taskrabbit who rebooked with different tasker received a message this evening saying this new tasker can't make it. Tasker is a waste of time
For registration you should pay 25$ and after to try pas the baground check in his local service Checkr, which of course does not have access to most checks outside the country and even inside. So you have a high probability of being denied registration due to failure to pass this test. Of course the money is not refunded. They are happy.
I had my brand new home completely ruined by a super dodge so called handyman. ALAA E is his name! Do not hire him! Complete con!
I had a very simple task for him to put up curtain rails. He completely damaged my walls. I brought up the poor quality of his work with him and he completely denied having any part in the damage. And said if was my own doing. I cant see how that would be possible with the huge holes made behind the rod.
The curtain rod is also not straight.
I didn't see the damage initially because it was dark when he left and the following day I had a trip. On my return I saw it during the day and was completely shocked. I've tried to go through the complaint with task rabbit but they have also tried to say I'm at fault. I am left completely out of pocket at least a few hundred and feel ripped off! Don't hire handymen from here. Get a proper tradie! You're not covered and you are dismissed even when you show them proof of the damage. I have very clear photos that show undeniable proof of his poor work!
Taskrabbit provided no support after sending a tasker to my home that caused incredible damage and cancelled the task while at my home to avoid payment through the app and the ability to leave a review. Absolutely do not trust their review system, they're skewed. You're just as likely to trust some random handyman on Facebook Marketplace. AVOID.
I recently used TaskRabbit's "elite" service for a moving task and was left extremely disappointed. The Tasker lacked expertise, repeatedly seeking my guidance. This resulted in damages to my couch, and the Tasker's unprofessional comments about its quality added to my frustration.
What was even more disheartening was TaskRabbit's customer service response. They seemed more interested in defending the Tasker than addressing my legitimate complaints. I paid a premium for this service, but received subpar assistance and poor customer support.
I'm now questioning the value of TaskRabbit's "elite" service and whether it's worth the cost. This experience has eroded my confidence in the platform. Others should be aware that they might encounter similar issues.
Hired a tasker for light carpentry. The person showed up drunk then threatened me when I did not pay him his two hour minimum despite him not performing the work. I sent him money to try and appease him then he threatened me further demanding more money. Notified Taskrabbit of the issue and asked for the last name so I could file a police report. Their response was I violated their terms by sending money outside of the platform. It's a shame they are more concerned about their profit than they are about the safety of a human being. First time and awful experience, will never use them again.
Years ago I used taskrabbit successfully and found a great handyman, who has since left the platform. These were years when they had liability insurance.
Fast forward to 2023. I've hired 3 taskers for moving projects across the past year. While they all arrived on time, 2 of the 3 informed me they were homeless and living out of their car. I felt so bad that I let the first shower at my house after a long day of moving, and the second is sleeping in my basement as we speak. One told me their truck was going to be repoed. One broke something small, one was so careless / in a rush that he managed to take all the sand bags off the base of a glass backed basketball hoop - without waiting for me to secure it - and it tipped over and shattered (replacement coat $1K).
All were good people, but this platform has become the Wild West. Had I known that Taskrabbit had been purchased by IKEA, I would never have gone back to them.
Now I'm seeing all these reviews and realize they have no vetting processes or procedures and zero protections for consumers.
They are a class action suit away from having to rename their Trust Fee because it is false advertising. It makes it seem like you are paying for background checks and some sort of quality assurance program.
I would exercise great caution - and suggest avoiding this platform altogether. Get someone who is bonded and insured for even the smallest of tasks. Risks are very high.
Be warned. I've used Task Rabbit 4 times in the last 6 months, of which 2 were repeat jobs because the first guy, who ironically had a high rating never sorted the matter.
In all instances there was an over charrge - 1 hrs work, being charged at 3.5hrs for screwing in a simple toilet seat!
One tasker even over charged for 2 hrs work, when he was there for only 35 minutes - the idiot had submitted his parking ticket which clearly showed 35 mins, which then means that he wa barely on the job 20 min, accounting time to get back and forth from the car.
I do not believe those ratings are genuine and you need to be warned. Many scammers on the site!
Terrible company. Don't hire from them. I booked a mover through Taskrabbit, who supposedly has a 5.0 rating and 550 satisfied jobs (his name is Hisham). I took a day off from work, and he was supposed to show up at 10 o'clock. At 10:20, I texted him to see where he was. He called me back and told me that I had no right to text him and that he wasn't coming. Very rude individual! Task rabbit texted me back about 20 minutes later and told me he wasn't coming. They did not apologize and did not try to make amends. They only wanted to know if I was planning to book someone else. Everyone on Taskrabbit Seems to have a 5.0 rating. It's probably nonsense and made up. Don't hire from this company.
I have been trying for almost a decade to use TR and every single time, I've had 10+ Taskers cancel on me. There is no accountability with the company; customer support is worthless. They literally do nothing. The stupid app suggests people that also cancel. It is maddening and such a waste of time and energy.
Answer: Mine responded and loved to chat. At the end, he cancelled the appointment. What a waste of time. Very disappointing.
Answer: Hi Carlos, thanks for your inquiry! When registering, a form of payment as well as bank info is required. The form of payment covers the cost of registration and the bank info is linked to your account so that you can receive payment from your Client once you begin tasking.
