It takes WEEKS to get set up and verified with Stripe as opposed to the literal MINUTES it took with Square. Not to mention the complicated site Stripe has. What the final straw was is going to blow your minds: Once verified, you can add TEAM members to the account and assign them the rolls you need for them. They are sent an email to then sign in with their own login. What they do not tell you is that the team member will have their OWN account WITH ALLL YOUR BANK, BUSINESS, AND PERSONAL INFORMATION--*BUT NOT ACTUALLY YOUR ACCOUNT* If you do not know the team member personally, if they are a service that you hire to build a website, or to do IT or admin so they can connect the webpage, THEY HAVE ALL YOUR FINANCIAL INFO AND CAN DRAIN YOUR ACCOUNT!
Luckily, my team member was a long time personal friend.

When I started my podcast at Anchor six months ago I was given an option to set up monetization via ad revenue accrued every time my podcast is played with a recorded ad. When I set up my account with Stripe which is the payment service for the accrued revenue, I gave a phone number for their two-step verification process. My phone number had since changed, so I contacted a support specialist to resolve this issue on October 27th. Nineteen emails (with various specialists who all mastered the art of being vague), one chat session and two phone calls later, I was told on the second phone call (which I might add they must call you as opposed to the opposite, which is funny because they will not answer if you call them, anyway) that my phone number was updated and it would be a few hours to complete within their system, this was on Friday, October 29th. My phone number wasn't actually updated until 5 days later which was exactly one week after my initial contact on October 27th. I grew so incredibly frustrated with Stripe that I asked Anchor to just terminate my Stripe Account. My complaint was a simple phone number change. I feel bad for everyone here that was screwed monetarily.
Total SCAM, Do not rely on the good reviews on this website because they're all fake, do your research and stay TF away from this company. They will 100% hold your money and make it the most stressful process to retrieve it. Do your research and do not use them! They have only BAD reviews!
I have given them all the information they needed, I have 1 txn. 0 disputes and refunds. I tried this service ONCE, and now they're holding 5k of my money for 120 days, which they're 100% not ALLOWED to do!
They just make up some dumb excuse as to why they intend to hold it, "it's a high-risk account" BS

BEWARE OF STRIPE! THEY ARE EXTREMELY SHADY AND JUST TOOK MONEY OUT OF OUR BANK ACCOUNT. They almost bankrupted our business. Our private keys were leaked somewhere, no fault of our own, and someone tried to do card testing using our keys. All of the payments were blocked due to our diligence, but stripe froze our account and started blocking all of legitimate payments. No one at stripe would ever help us or give any information regarding how long it would take to get our account running again. We called every day and could never get any information other than a special team was working on it. They also decided to debit our account over $2,000 dollars and just took it out of our bank account. They were very unprofessional and just hung on up us on the phone, wouldn't respond to emails, and caused our business to be at a standstill. They have acted extremely shady and unprofessional, and we would never use them again under any circumstances. After two weeks of no response, we decided to use another payment processor.
Why can't you do less than one star?

They are holding $7,400 hostage in a refund for a client. Thank you, Stripe, for ruining trust with our client. I was promised it would be refunded by now...so far today is the 20 day mark (15 business days). Never using this company again. Their policy says 5-10 business days...obviously they don't care about their own policy.
This is very fraudulent behavior that Stripe is engaging in. They withdrew the money from our account over 2 weeks ago and have not released it to the client.
I cannot count how many times I've called them. They give the illusion of being helpful by having a rep answer very quickly...but it does no good when that rep can't even do anything and they keep telling me "I will have to email this to our tier 2 support because they don't operate via phone" then I get an email with no explanation but "you can expect it in a few days".
Miraculously I was able to get ahold of a supervisor...but this did nothing either. He told me "I assure you, you will receive your refund within 24-48 hours)...this was last Thursday! It's end of day Tuesday while I write this.
Complete incompetence and fraudulent behavior. This is a BAD company. Do not do business with them.
This is the only reason to do business with them: If you want to ruin your reputation with your high-value client. Other than that...look elsewhere.
Dear Stripe, when do you plan to issue the refund? You've already taken the clients money, taken our money...and where exactly is this money? Just sitting in your bank account? Do you realize how much money we have lost trying to get you to do your job?---calling probably who knows how may times; definitely over 10, emails...AND LOTS AND LOTS OF WASTED TIME.
Will you also reimburse us for our time taken to get this job complete? Holding people's money and making them do your job for you is a sure-fire way to ruin morale and waste resources.

It took me a week to get verified with them, and then once I finally did, they CLOSED MY ACCOUNT AND SENT ALL MY MONEY BACK TO THE CUSOMTERS THAT ALREADY GOT THEIR PRODUCTS
Stripe is trash, they charge 3% of every transaction (comparable to PayPal) and talk a big game about "fraud protection" - however when their is a dispute or chargeback, 9 times out of 10 Stripe pulls your money, you lose the case and on top of it all, they charge YOU a $15 dispute fee. OHH but don't worry - they'll sometimes send an "early fraud warning" before the dispute is filed. How early, you ask? How does a week after the order sound? Real early, right? Especially in the age of Amazon Prime where customers want their items DELIVERED in 2 days or less. It does us absolutely no good, the product has already shipped, and in most cases already delivered, by the time we get an "early fraud warning" from Stripe. They hold all the cards - they have all the customer info, IP addresses, etc etc and they approved the transaction - as a small business, how in the world should we be liable? They act like a comparable service to PayPal, but they are FAR WORSE than any service we've ever used. Unless you just like flushing money down the drain, stay FAR AWAY FROM STRIPE.
I used stripe for a month but decided to go with another company as Stripe doesn't offer credit card reading equipment, just an app that only takes a picture of a cc if it is a raised letter type card (90% are flat) So it's mostly keyed in transactions.
I went with another company for my cc transactions that turned out to be no better than Stripe, but they had a good chip reader. Which got damaged or was faulty, and they had none in stock for four months, which caused me to violate the agreement of 80% ipped and 20% keyed transactions. So they canceled my account.in the middle of a very busy event for me. So I dusted off my Stripe account, did a 10 dollar test and it went through. I sent an email to Stripe asking if my account was still active, and they said all was well.
3600 dollars in transactions later, they decided I am a "High risk merchant" for having a lot of charge backs (they said circa 1500 of the 3600 were chareged back) I have a lot of repeat customers and they informed me that they never charged back, and my ten dollar test charge was also returned, but not because of me or my bank,
Long story shortened, they are holding 3600-1500, so circa 2100 and told me they would put a hold ont he funds during the "Chargeback phase" of 120 days. That period has ended and they still give me form emails that they are very sorry to hear about my troubles, but my funds wiull continue to be held during the review process>>
I was a newly costumer using their service, everything was great until one day i've received an email saying that i havent respect their rules, that i've use someone's card without their consent. BUT how is it possible if i am selling products where people order and pay with their own card. I dont send any invoice! Isn't STRIPE suppose to insure security payment? GUESS NOT! I've tried by many ways to make my point to them, saying that i am loyal, that all my client who ordered on my website received their product. They didn't have ANYTHING to explain to me except that they no longer can take payment for my website and that my website is a HIGH RISK of fraud! I am selling hair by the way! FINE i've accepted but i had a 525$ pending from their end. I was waiting to receive my last payments. Everyday i was checking to see when was i willing to receive my payment and the transfer date was kept on pushing back! I've wrote several messages to them trying to reach to someone to ask for my money back. NEVER ANSWERED! UNTIL i figured out that they decided to REIMBURSE the clients who have made their payment into my website without knowing and didn't advise me about it. Mean that the client got away with FREE products now. ALL THAT MONEY WAS MY INVESTMENT... now i've lost a part of it... I DO NOT recommend this crap. I will never refer someone to them! They stole from me and they are NOT RIGHT!

I set up Stripe as a payments solution for my online store and my brother and I made few transactions from our own cards to make sure that the cycle is smooth.
After receiving few payments from customers we noticed that Stripe made auto refund for 9 transactions without prior notice to customers they already received their orders including including 3 payments I personally made 1 month ago. And i contacted stripe support and provided them with the conversation held between me and the customers and the evidence that they received their order.
We contacted the support their feedback was those "charges were processed without consent of the cardholder". I asked the "Whitney" (Worst Operator) Can you verify how Stripe made refund to "charges that were processed without consent of the cardholder" and those charges was made by me for testing purpose and i did approve the transaction?
And all i get a robot answer as usual: "Stripe may need to reverse charges that were processed without consent of the cardholder".
HOW IS THAT LOGIC! I Made those payments for testing purpose and my name/email/phone number are available, and when i contacted my bank their feedback was those transaction were authorized by you!
In addition, they still owe me funds that they refuse to transfer to my bank account, and every time i contact the Support they reply with 1 automated answer: "Stripe's final response is firm here".
WORST CHOICE, STAY AWAY FROM STRIPE, don't get in the trap as i did.

STRIPE IS THE WORST PAYMENT PROCESSING COMPANY and has the poorest customer service. Trust me, YOUR MONEY IS NOT SAFE! If I could give a 0 Star review, I would! I have removed Stripe's payment processing services from every business that I own and filed several complaints with the BBB and FTC. I have been using Stripe for several years, now all of a sudden, they disabled my account for no apparent reason at the beginning of 2020, and since STRIPE DOES NOT HAVE A PHONE NUMBER FOR YOU TO CALL AND SPEAK TO A LIVE REPRESENTATIVE, my emails NEVER GET RETURNED. So, I haven't been able to access my account all of 2020. A Stripe representative named Lisa sent me an email and asked me to send bank account information to verify my business info. I emailed those statements on 9/27/2020 and haven't heard back from anyone at Stripe since then. I even periodically receive FRAUD ALERTS from my Stripe account, but since Stripe has disabled my account all year, I cannot identify the status of my account or the fraud that's occurring. Someone needs to investigate Stripe and their fraudulent practices. STRIPE, if you are reading this review, CALL ME BACK AND GIVE ME MY MONEY YOU FRAUDS!

The issue was: Stripe decided to withdraw/suspend the issuing capability in my account. There was no notification in account section about impending suspension other than 1 email which I missed due to 100s of payment notifications from Stripe.
I only asked them to extend the timeline for using issuing temporarily as there were no adequate notifications.
Your stripe support team was assuring me for more than a month that they were looking into the issue. Yes, more than a MONTH.
At one point Nora from Stripe issuing said "Confirming we were able to enable Issuing Top Up functionality for your account as requested."
But when I checked the account I could not find any issuing capabilities. When I approached for clarification, she said "For context, our team reviewed your request to enable Top Ups temporarily. Our team provided confirmation that the Top Up functionality for Issuing would be re-enabled, though I see this option is still not available to you in the Dashboard, so I have followed up with our internal teams to flag this"
Despite confirming that temporarily they have enabled issuing capability, it was not done so and after repeated follow ups, I am being told by Nora "Thank you for your patience here and apologies for the back and forth. Unfortunately, after an additional review, our team has confirmed that we will be unable to reinstate the Issuing capabilities on your account. "
My grievance is:
1) Should have been proper notification about impending suspension / withdrawal of service.
2) Nora from Support team, despite assuring that they have enabled the issuing functionality, they have not done. Dysfunctional / lack of coordination between teams affecting customers?
35 days of waiting & over 20 emails and at the end they are only contradicting what they have assured
