An amazing website with lots of great games. Even if you don't have enough/any money to pay for games, there are still plenty of good free games or demos for free games. As I said in the title of this review, Steam has many terrible reviews on lots of other websites. But, all of those reviews are written by people who either have never played a video game in their lives, or are trying to play PC games on their phones. But I don't just mean the reviews FOR steam itself. The reviews of games on Steam are always written by people who just can't play the game, so they rage quit and write a bad, usually one star review.
Steam offers no way to reach someone to correspond with customer service. Something you should be aware of before purchasing products through them. Per my attached photo, there was a reply from Valve, however, I was at Steam's online help page when I sent my request for help. I sent the request two different times on Steam's home page, only to get the same empty reply back. A week went by, no replies from anyone at Steam.
Steam is a gaming platform that has my full endorsement. I'd be perfectly fine if it monopolized the market lol. The availability of all games, region-specific pricing, excellent design, cross-platform compatibility, and a range of exciting features like their gamepad and sponsored events like "The International" are all pluses. In short, there are no downsides to mention. A solid 5/5 rating from me!

The site is misleadingly titled SteamGames.com, implying a connection to SteamPowered.com (which is famous for the Steam launcher), and this page does redirect to that page, but they are not actually the same thing.
SteamGames.com is a fraud which steals money from random cards. It stole $50 from my mother.
SteamPowered.com is a game store & library. It is where I bought Skyrim.

I've been a user of steam for over 10 years and during this whole time I have never had a complaint with them. They have great refund policies, platform features and prices. In all honesty if I was rich I would donate money to steam for how much they have done for the PC platform, making it an option for people like me to finally leave console. THANK YOU GABEN!
Tip for consumers:
Don't use epic games, they are ruining PC.

I have close to 500 games.
You MUST use the client to access your games. I've seen many Linux (I have Ubuntu 22.04) reviewers state lack of client viability, and my own experience will verify that. Granted, there are so many configurations for computers, it is difficult to know all possibilities of issues. After 3 days of no access to the game I bought through my browser, I asked for and received a refund, and REQUESTED termination of my account. I will NEVER go to steampowered.com while I DON't need a client on GOG.com to download a game into my computer.
Tip for consumers:
Support at steampowered.com is only able to SUGGEST possible remedies to malfunction of client, e.g. check the FTP settings or maybe put in a bug report with a Github account or check "OUR" Linux community to see if someone there has found a solution or remove steam from computer and download and reinstall. Also, I was on the telephone with technical support for my router for 30 - 45 minutes without any solution..

If you buy pc games, then you know steam is the premier place to purchase. They have the best selection of games, and they have some of the best prices on the internet, especially during a sale. It doesn't have the best user experience but it is simple enough to use.
It is one of the best websites for gaming on pc/laptop. It has a lot of games on it and is super easy to use. I used games from steam to start a YouTube channel. All the games on it are super fun to play and I enjoy to use it.

Woke up this morning to 4 charges of $105.99 with one of the charges credited back! My Steam acct does not have any of my bank info so no idea how my credentials got stolen. I have never even used it! Now I have to wait until my bank refunds me and I also have to wait for my new debit card in the mail since now my bank no longer issues temporary cards. Going to check into the connection that someone here suggested between having an Experian recently opened and this breach of my account.

Steam has games that i purchased where a download of a third party platform was needed and also the creation of a third party account there by creating more crap for identity thiefs to find.
Steam scammed me in that way more than once. I am using Steam and with some games a third party installed and platform is running in the back ground too. It's bad enough Steam uses a bunch on steam.exe processes in the task manager.

It's not bad, but it would be better to make discounts more often than twice per year. Really not always can get to the PC because of travelling
I'm logged in already, so obviously I know my username and password. I go to purchase a game and after I've paid for it, it asks for username and password again so I can download it. It then says my login credentials aren't valid (I'm already logged in). Customer support is a robotic farce. NO support whatsoever. Stay away. After 6 attempts of resolving the problem, I deleted it. Absolutely no consideration for the end customer's experience.
Today, recieved an alert via SMS, asking me if the 199.24 charge was authorized by me for this Fraudulent website. 5 minutes later another unauthorized charge for 499.67. I have never even heard of this website. Im so pissed! Called bank filled a Fraudulent charge claim. Now I have to wait to get my money back. Seems like from other reviews this has been going on for years. Sick people, Karma is a $#*!.
(Review is based on features from the launcher, NOT specifically the website) The platform is one of the best non-DRM services out there, and I can get my hands on games that I would otherwise be required to commit a crime to obtain (most notably titles that predate the platform itself). It also provides one of the most intuitive ways to access mods online, saving me from hell trying to enjoy every last moment of my games.
The only really annoying bit I have experienced is the sheer amount of times I have to log into my account on the website, making the task of purchasing games and nabbing free games on the go, or simply just trying to replace my profile picture incredibly infuriating with 2FA.
Tip for consumers:
Definitely a good spot if you are looking into entering the indie scene or want to buy your first game, there's a lot available and devs often give away games

Gabe Newell is the best person ever making Half-Life, and Half-Life 2, TF2, Portal, Portal 2, Left 4 dead, Left 4 dead 2, and a lot more the bomb of gaming platforms
Over the years I've tried and used multiple gaming launchers, and Steam has by far remained my favourites throughout the years. It's also the one with the least scandals, I believe, and has a relatively easy to access customer support.
It's easy and safe to buy games, it's very easy to use and has a very clear lay-out, and the sales are really nice. I once bought about 7 games for 5 euros, as well as been gifted 11 games for a similar price. It has a lot of major games, and it's very easy to invite friends to games as well as accept invites and join other games.
I bought as game from Steam and it has a known bug. They seemed to take pleasure in trying to keep my money. Support is immature. Beware. There are much safer alternatives.
Tip for consumers:
Go to Origin, or elsewhere. Anywhere but here.

Beware the immature people who work here. They are vengeful. They think they are so big they don't need to treat users kind.
I've bought many top games like Final Fantasy 15, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter World, etc, from steam at 70 % off prices. I love steam. There were a few times I bought games I've never heard of to try them out. Ended up that I didn't like playing them and they weren't fun. I was only about two hours into those game(s). Steam, gave me a full refund within two hours for the games I didn't like. They are reliable and responsible. I highly recommend them!
Steam is always my first choice to purchase games, because it almost never has problems and discounts are frequent. However the launcher feels slow, it takes longer than other launcher to boot.
I love Steam. There is always a new (or old) game for me to find to play. Lots of free to play games as well as ones you do pay for. Their sales (summer, winter, etc) tend to have something from my wishlist. I also love how many games have bundles available, bringing down the overall price if you buy a pack/collection.
I've used Steam for years to buy and play games. I've tried other launchers, but I always went back to Steam. I love the non-game features that other similar game launchers just don't have such as achievements. Achievements give another reason to replay a game that I might otherwise never look at again. Trying to collect them all can be fun in itself.
There are some reviews stating that they got fraudulent charges on their credit cards from Steam while they never used the site. I can say with almost certainty that these charges are not the fault of Steam itself, but scammers who trade in Steam games and keys.
They go to grey market sites and sell games for below their market price. They add the buyer on Steam, then "gift" them the game using your card. The buyer of said game will be the one out of pocket when you make the charge backs to your credit card after Steam revokes the game from their account. But they know the risks when they buy on the grey market, so no need to feel sorry for them. The scammer will have gotten away with their cash though. And you get your money back via changeback. This is what happens in most of those cases.
This company put 5 charges through on my debit card for 37.88 each. Three of the charges came through as credits, but 2 did not. I immediately called my bank and got the credit for the other two. Since the 2 are still pending, am hoping they can just deny it. This is outright fraud. I have never heard of this company before I got charged. Don't know how they got my info, but this is clearly a scam.
Steam always have BETA games on their launcher that never make it to release. So you purchase a game that is in development and it shut downs in 30 days. You just wasted your money. Steam does not refund you the money back because you pass a hourly threshold of gameplay.
Do not bother with Steam or any games on Steam. If a game developer uses both a standalone launcher and Steam, go with their standalone. You will save yourself from getting headaches trying to get into the game.
Tip for consumers:
Stay away, save yourself the headaches.
Make sure you test the games as soon as you buy them though. Threw down twenty on a game that wouldn't run on my pc and waited to long to refund it. Other than that, it's ok. Not a great selection of games though. :(
I am a gamer and i use steam for many games such as l4d2 and raft and I enjoy the wide selection of games one of the best game sites
