Sporcle enjoys a generally positive reputation for its diverse and engaging trivia offerings, with many users appreciating the variety of quizzes available and the platform's effectiveness as a learning tool. However, significant concerns have emerged regarding intrusive advertisements, perceived favoritism among moderators, and issues related to user interactions, particularly in competitive settings. Customers have also expressed frustration with the responsiveness of moderators and the handling of account-related issues. While the community aspect and creative quiz-making are highlighted as strengths, the overall user experience is marred by complaints about site management and ad intrusiveness.

Have never witnessed such a horribly ran site in my life. Paying to remove ads is not the answer when you can't even enjoy the site at all on mobile due to huge ads covering the entire quiz.
You might as well not even bother creating quizzes because they only publish their payers and/or special members they cater too for publishing. You always see the same members be chosen. It's like a lame high school clique.
Cannot believe this site has survived past 2011 as that was its downfall.
The user, SporcleEXP, which is listed as Admin, steals unpublished quizzes by other users and posts them as its own. I used to create quizzes on Sporcle but then decided to stop using the site and deleted my account. I decided recently to rejoin and have found several of my quizzes I created before deleting my profile on the site as unpublished quizzes under the user name SporcleEXP.

Every quiz on the following playlist, I created before I deleted my account:

Venue was very small. Computer Monitor on very low table making pics impossible to see. "DJ" had speakers CRANKED with repeated requests to lower volume ignored.
Sporcle questions were confusing at best preferring to obscure enough information to even relate category to question. Several of the "clues" were misleading, again promoting confusion as to what was even the actual question.
Several of the "answers" had nothing to do with the question and two of the answers were pointedly incorrect.
If this were my only Trivia experience, I would think I had a problem, but it isn't, and I don't.
Cannot recommend. Will continue to relay my experience to every bar and restaurant who considers these yoyo's for entertainment.
The ads and moderators have ruined the site. They blocked my account stating my account is associated with an account associated with violating their terms, which it isn't. I can no longer create quizzes or play showdowns. Sporcle responded to my email inquiring about this with the following response: "After deliberation among site moderators, we decided that we will not be lifting your site block at this time. We may reconsider our decision in the future, however." The site is run by unpaid moderators, most likely teenagers. Being an unpaid moderator on a free gaming website is probably their only power in life. The site has been ruined by the intrusive ads and the unpaid moderators on a power trip.
Bunch of nerds on here who downvote every comment if you're not in their "cliche". It's become a site of bullying and degrading people who are not "published". Don't understand the appeal. Not to mention I know of two people who have several multi-accounts who are not banned but I had a legit reason to have multi-accounts in a multi-family household and they banned my multi-accounts. Worst site ever who caters to people who probably give them thousands a year to play the same trivia you can play free everywhere else. Dumb.
Registered for a little over a year and have learnt much regards Geography and Other. More to come...
I really enjoy playing the quizzes on this site and they can be very educational. The downside is that the owners of the site seem desperate for people to subscribe by placing a massive amount of ads on the site which cover up some of the quizzes, these are removed if you subscribe which I don't intend to do as I understand you get bombarded with emails. Ad block plus eventually dealt with this but when you have completed a quiz they put very sarcastic comments in an attempt to belittle you if you don't do very well - you can remove these comments only if you subscribe. Good quizzes but arrogant, egotistical owners.
In the past day or so, the recent quiz sections is being overloaded by quizzes with titles like "APES 2020 Logan Gilbert" and "APES 2020 Sarah Slover Ch 21" by users who have just joined in the past day or so. It's annoying. It seems as if users are putting their homework assignments on there. The users are all from Indiana.
Sporcle is now just full of pop up ads in every corner, covering content. They must be really desperate to try to get people to pay for their site. They've ruined the site.
Sporcle is not a REAL trivia site, in that it has VERY few quizzes of the traditional trivia type. Hardly any featuring a question with several answers to choose from. The site features message boards where you can comment on various things. It doesn't tolerate ANY criticism of the site, you receive immediate backlash even for constructive advice. If you post ANYTHING pro-conservative or anti-liberal you are viciously attacked. If you post something like this several times, you are banned from the boards. Pro-conservative thoughts are NOT tolerated. This site is infected with loony loser liberals, from the owner and originator of the site down to the majority of the people that play on it. If you're conservative in your political views, stay away from this site.
Sporcle has become consumed with ads. Even with Ad Blocker, they still show up. The pages and games are slow to load as a consequence. Less ads=better experience.
I have tried to unsubscribe from Sporcle many times (to no avail), I have tried sending them emails to tell them to stop (again to no avail).
Once you sign up you will never be able to stop them from filling your inbox with their junk.
I'm sure they have some good content but this is ridiculous, a business should never operate like this.
Has a wide variety of topics and categories of trivia. Different types of quizzes (photos, videos, traditional, music, etc.). It's extra fun to play with someone, me and my boyfriend often sit on our laptops and take the same quiz and see who can finish first or do better! Also fun for making your own quizzes and using to study, if that applies to you.
Sporcle is a fun interactive study tool. Playing the games provided is easy to understand and navigate. When it comes to creating a game it becomes confusing and hard to operate. I would recommend using this website for the previously made games. If your thinking of creating your own game I would choose another website. One that is easier to use.
LOTS of variety on quizzes, trivia, and game topics. I love this website! Also like that you can submit games of your own.
Not only fun for adults -- but kids too! There are lots of topics that can get them interested to play (I hooked a kid with a Pokémon game then challenged him to a geography game --- sneaky!)
Games come in different varieties: matching, spelling, selecting from a list, ordering, naming & identifying, fill in the blank, listing, etc. Excellent to keep brain sharp and just have fun!
There are many excellent quizzes on Sporcle, and the userbase is very creative in developing various games such as mine puzzles.
Their customer support is excellent. Despite being a completely free website, their email responses have been quicker and more informative than other companies that I was a paying customer for... Comcast and PG&E.
It's very exciting to see the new quizzes each day.
This is a trivia game site, and it's a gas! I love the sports questions, but it also has geography, literature, history and a lot more. There are 'blitz' questions you can play by yourself, or more detailed questions you can play with a friend (live or over the phone). I have to say it's a great intellectual exercise and tests a lot of knowledge across many subjects. So it's great fun if this is your thing.
Sporcle.com is an amazing idea and could have been a great place for me to spend a lot of time as I love trivia. It's just too bad that they have ruined it with intrusive pop-up advertising.
Sporcle is perhaps best known for their geography quizzes such as the excellent "How many countries of the world can you type in 15 minutes?" (with a map). That can get a bit cluttered, so doing them continent by continent in separate quizzes is also possible. I've learned a lot of geography from this site, including how to correctly spell Kyrgyzstan on the first try. There is a lot of variety; use the search feature, and this site can keep you busy for a while.
Logged in users can submit quizzes of their own as well. If well received by other Sporcle users, these can sometimes become "official" and get promoted to the front page. Note that this is a community of trivia buffs so be sure to carefully check your work if you plan to design quizzes. You will hear about it in the comments if you forget that France borders Brazil, that Denmark is the 13th largest country by area, or that the West African country between Liberia and Ghana prefers to be alphabetized under "C", not "I".
User experiments with the flexibility of the quiz design feature have yielded many different types of quiz formats beyond the simple "List all the___'s". Quizzes have been designed to simulate various game show formats, crossword puzzles, music lyrics, and matching.
The site is quite functional for logged out users, but registering with an email address allow commenting, rating, user statistics, and quiz creation.
