After the flight was booked and purchased through this company, they called to say the fare went up and I owed another $150 if I wanted a seat.

The "Cheap Flight" webpage directed us to the Smartfares webpage for booking, When we finalised the flight and processed the payment, we received a message that the payment didn't go through, and we had to contact customer service. Their Customer service was friendly, but he said the prices had gone up, which I had no idea what it meant, he told me the flight was full, and only three seats were available! He charged us $600 more than we saw online and still wanted to charge another $300 USD for choosing Seats! So when I went online to select the seats, more than half of the plane was empty, and it is still empty now! Because even a day later, when I checked for the same flight, it was still at a lower price, and the flight had so many available seats. I feel it's an absolute rip-off, and I hope someone would respond to this review. I actually ended up choosing seats with way less cost!

Smartfares website quoted a price online of $251.30 for a nonstop, one way ticket to Montergo Bay Jamaica departing from Milwaukee, WI on Sun Country Airlines. After providing my credit card information on the Smartfares website to book this flight, I immediately received an email saying that the ticket couldn't be issued and to contact Smartfares immediately to resolve the issue. I was told over the phone that they required an additional $122 to issue the ticket. After initially giving them the verbal OK to charge my credit card for the additional $122, I became suspicious of this "bait and switch" tactic. I did some online research and found that hundreds of dissatisfied customers have filed complaints with regulatory authorities regarding this fraudulent business practice. I emailed Smartfares immediately and told them to refund the $251.30 and the $122 upcharge. They initially refused but after several emails back and forth with a representative named John, he emailed me that he cancelled the ticket and refunded whatever was charged. They did refund the $251.30 but not the $122 upcharge. When I contacted John via email about the $122 charge still remaining on my credit card, he stated the refund was in process and I should be patient. When I went to check with my credit card company, there was no transaction in process to refund the $122 charged to my credit card. I have now filed a complaint with the local Better Business Bureau hoping that they may be able to compel Smartfares to refund the $122. This whole ordeal has been nothing but a nightmare and a tremendous waste of my time. I would highly recommend that any prospective customer should not do any business with Smartfares!
1. Failed bookings should not enter the prepayment process, which would result in user funds being withheld.
2. The automatic refund is too slow, and you always explain to users that it is the bank's fault. I can prove that it is not. This is your excuse. This involves your integrity and the trust of users in you.
3. You put too many fake prices in the market. I failed to get a reservation at that preferential price 3 times. You explained that the promotion was over. You always put the blame on the airline. Users are not stupid because you are not the only agency.
Fare was affordable compared to other providers. Easy and user friendly website to navigate. Secured payment channel and ticket was issued very promptly
Website not updated on actual real prices of airtickets and after receiving email a min after making full payment, I was told to call the Support Desk and person who answered the call spoke in a weary tone and immediately offered to refund my purchase. If prices on website are updated contantly, I won't have to make the IDD call in the first place

I booked my flight for $463.60 after my card was debited, I got an email indicating that the airline could not confirm my booking for the dates and times requested and directed to contact you immediately. Upon talking to your rep, I'm told that the fare is now higher and I needed to pay an extra $150, which I had no choice but to pay given the time that it'll take to get the refund on my card. Strangely enough, when I went to the airline website to view my reservation and print the ticket, the fare still says $463.60. Where did the extra $150 go?

The next day you will receive an email to call them immediately because they were unable to confirm your flight. When you call them back, they will try to sell you another flight at a much higher price. SCAM SCAM AVOID!
