Never ever order from this company. I signed up for the rewards program and decided to cancel within 30 days. I am now on my 4th month of asking them to cancel this rewards and every month they keep billing my credit card and stealing money from me.
I will never order from them again and I recommend no one else have anything to do with them.
Over the past 2 months, I have emailed twice and called customer service 3 times about a refund. First off, the nightmare about calling customer service is true; expect to be on hold for at least 30 to 45 minutes. Second, customer service is just going to tell you whatever to get you off the phone. Their stories change just to get you off the phone.
It's not worth it. It doesn't matter how cute the item is, you will regret buying from them!
****update 6/25/22
Never got the refund they said they would send. I have not tried to purchase anything else because of the bad experience.
I get paper catalogs in the mail and chuck them straight into the recycle bin. Sometimes I use them to light the charcoal in the grill. That's about all they are good for.
Ordered a birthday gift... got order confirmation. And plenty of emails to intice another order but nothing about my order. Got on chat line and they cancelled my order. Said it was because my card was declined... which happens no where else... I asked why I never notified of my cancellation... of course the answer was... don't know... so now I was left high and dry for a birthday gift! I will never use this company and I pass along my story!
Early December I ordered 3 lanterns for Christmas presents. When purchasing 3 you get a reduced price. A few weeks later I was notified one was back ordered. It would not be in before Christmas. I was charged for 2 at the reduced price. After Christmas the third one I wanted came in. I called to order it asking for the reduced price, and the woman for Signals said no and got very snotty with me. I felt for all the inconvenienced caused me for not a having that item before Christmas, they would honor the original reduced price. I told her forget it. No longer wanted to give them my service. And on top of that, noticed on my credit card statement I was enrolled in some Signals membership at $15.77 a month that I did not authorize. Very sad to me because I love the products in the Catalogue. With Amazon being their biggest competition, I would think they would try harder to compete.
In catalog #20CZ*******, page 5 there are pillows shown with an American reference and directly below it another pillow that has Boo written on it. As I was looking thru the magazine and came across this display I was instantly insulted that this was done. I had no desire to peruse the magazine past page 5 and put it immediately in the thrash. Remove me from your mailing list immediately..
Signal offered free shipping with vip membership. But shipping charge still added to bill. Turns out free shipping is a reimbursement that requires user to go on separate website, complete reimbursement submission form, and provide proof of purchase in the form of an electronic or hard copy of invoice. Week later, still no reimbursement. Also cancelling VIP membership cannot be done online and requires calling a secret phone number *******673. Recoding on phone says reimbursements are delayed by covid. (I can understand product delivery being delayed, but how does covid effect an electronic credit that should have been applied to original invoice?!?) Finally, one of three items ordered was missing from package. To be fair, other two items in order were satisfactory and as described. So I gave them better than one star.
Ordered an item and waited 16 days.no tracing but told me still sitting in warehouse
Csr not helpful at all. Tracing system is totally useless. Bix arrived! WRONG ITEM!
Totally done with Signals. Now returning box, thx for nothing customer service service reps!
Beware that their customer service is somewhere in Malaysia or the Philippines maybe - some call takers are very difficult to understand and do not seem to understand me very well. First order, placed in November, was totally missing an item. They did, at least, refund that. What I am VERY ticked off about now is their Christmas Shipping Guide BS! I ordered on December 17. According to the site, you need to order by the 19th at noon for their standard shipping option to get your purchases to you by Christmas. After calling twice and checking online, my sons' gifts finally shipped today and are due to arrive December 26th! Customer service would not refund the $17.99 shipping fee. If you tell customers they will get their order by Christmas so long as they place it at a certain time, then you need to do that! If it becomes apparent that you will be unable to fulfill your end of the transaction, then email with an option to cancel and to let the customer know how much you suck. It was false advertising. As a side note, I never received a confirmation email either. Signals is operating like it's 1998. Shipping should be free. If you ask to speak to a supervisor, they say there is not one available. Total garbage. I will not be ordering from any Universal Screen Arts companies. I hope Jared Florian enjoys a wonderful Christmas with on time presents.
Sister ordered a personalized gift to be delivered before Christmas. Never made it and claimed it would be weeks before being sent out. Said they would reroute to our house at a different address, but then they claimed it was delivered on the 29th when no one was at the original location any longer. The neighbor didn't see it either (hidden doors from street) so thinking it was taken back by fedex delivery person. Can't get her money back. Signals is not only unreliable but dishonest. What a scam!
I purchased a gift. Took about two weeks to get it. Very cute so I purchased a second one. I realized after purchase I wouldn't get it in time. At the same time my daughter found the item on Amazon for $10 less and would arrive the next day! So I canceled my order. Maybe a 5 minute window between ordering and canceling. Signals emailed back hours later that they cannot cancel order because it was already shipping! Really?! That fast?! Said not to refuse package because there wouldn't be tracking. I can return it but there's an $8.95 return fee plus shipping! I ordered yesterday but have not gotten a shipped email, even though they said it was in their shipping dept., 24 hours now! In the mean time, I get at least 2 emails a day trying to get me to purchase! Never again!
I placed an order with signals online. I joined the Signals VIP Club because you get free shipping. When I rec'd my items I had been charged shipping $14.99 (outregeously high for ground shipping). I called customer service. They said to receive free shipping I would have to file a "rebate claim" and a copy of my "proof of purchase". What a scam! Either you offer free shipping or you don't! Customers should not have to jump through hoops to get a free shipping that is offered.
In early April I mailed in an order for a book, and enclosed a check. Four days later the check was cashed by Signals at Huntington Bank. A month later and still no book I began calling. Said they never received my order. They had to get it if they got and cashed check. Customer Service was horrible, horrible. Always a different person who didn't know about the issue. All said they can't send the book until they find the order, can't refund my money until they found order. My bank contacted their bank, which was no help. This is insanity. They keep my money and I don't get the book until they find the order which is obviously lost or destroyed. Ludicrous!
Ordered stepping stones for the garden... first order, only half showed up... stupidly ordered more, thinking they would show. No order confirmation, no shipping notice, no tracking info on second order. Wrote them... no response after 2 weeks... finally they sent rest of the first order... only got half the second order. Filed claim with paypal - they ( signals) wanted me to return items for refund... I couldn't return since I only got half of them. Contacted my bank and got VISA refund. Never shopping with them again. BEWARE they have many other catalogs from the same company under other names... look at the mailing address in Ohio!
BEWARE! SmartLabel needed to return a defective item says "No Postage Necessary" but fine print on return form says you will need to pay to have item shipped back. Shipping label says that will cost $8.95 which Signals will charge to your credit card. If you choose to accept an exchange, you will also have to pay for shipping again. Crappy policy for sure!
Today I received a t-shirt I ordered from Signals. It arrived looking as though it had been worn and washed, and the lettering is worn nearly completely off. I paid for a new item, which was to be a gift for my sister. I paid for rush delivery. Now the Signals customer service says they can't replace the t-shirt until they receive this one back from me, and it will take "4 to 6 weeks" to get another. I haven't seen my sister in 3 years and will only see her for 2 days next week. Now I have no gift to give her because Signals sent me a dirty, worn out used nasty item! I will have to buy something else from a local store, and I live in a small town with limited options. I'm so angry and upset! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM SIGNALS!
I ordered three items over a month ago. I received on of them promptly, three masks for $22.45. The other two items were continually on backorder and were meant as Christmas presents so I canceled those and bought them on Amazon. I was charged $16.99 for shipping for three masks that I could have shipped for about 5 bucks. I went back and forth with customer service and the agreed to refund me $5.00 which was never credited back to my account. So with tax, I paid $42.60 for three masks. There also doesn't appear to be a way to go over customer services head. If you ever receive a Signals catalogue and see something you like, go to Amazon. They likely have it and their CS is much better.
I purchased a set of cotton PJs. They were described as luxurious. The fabric was extremely thin,,, see through when held up to the light. I ordered size XL because I wanted roomy PJs to lounge in. My size 8 daughter MIGHT have fit into them. The PJS were not cheap...$54 for the set... so I expected decent quality. They were made in India and reeked of some sort of chemical used in manufacturing (or maybe in killing insects? I returned them yesterday. I will see how they handle my refund. (of course, I had to pay $9 to return them)
I will not look at any catalogs from Signals again and I urge you not to bother purchasing items from them.

I mailed my MIL a gift card for Mother's Day. The number to use the card did not work, she called Customer Service... they gave her a new number/code to use. SHE DID THIS THREE MORE TIMES, each time it failed. I finally called Signals Customer Service myself, was given the run around with ordering phone number/vs customer service. A very polite and extremely detached and unenthusiastic Cindy answered and just like all the other comments, said whatever to get me off the phone. I have yet to receive an email notifying of my refund, that she said would be coming. FURIOUS. Went through the site chat over a week later to demand communication via email ONLY. I will never call them again... but being out $100 for a GIFT card... a gift... for SOMEONE ELSE. Which I had seen the red Signal about this site. They are absurd.
I ordered 7 gifts for 7 people, from an agent that had English as a second language. 6 were delivered but the seventh was mislabeled. Instead of S. Maple like i had said, it became SMAPPLE. I have called multiple times without any help at all. After lengthy hold times my calls were dropped. I was repeatedly routed to the wrong people (again, language was a problem). I finally reached someone who assured me the right person would call me at 2pm. Of course that never happened. I suggest shopping elsewhere.
My husband purchased a gift certificate for me as a birthday gift. When I tried to use it they told me that it was invalid and wanted me to give them a credit card number to charge while they "sorted out" the issue with my gift certificate. I finally had to ask for a refund of the gift certificate which they still have not refunded. They upon viewing the credit card statement that the gift certificate was charged on there is an additional charge for some sort of VIP membership that was neither asked for or approved. These people are scam artists and thieves. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Answer: B1) Bad luck. A lapse in judgement. Why 50 words, when a dozen will do?
Answer: Nearly impossible. And when you do get one on the line they say they'll get back to you, then don't. I phoned them a number of times, and my bank called them once, and only one time they called back saying the stupid business about not sending my book until they found the order... after cashing my check.
Answer: There are many nicer companies out there. Signals and Acorn are the same company with the same people behind the scenes. They do have some interesting products, but customer service is absolutely horrible.
Signals has a rating of 1.3 stars from 84 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Signals most frequently mention customer service, credit card and free shipping. Signals ranks 188th among Personalized Gifts sites.
