The company has garnered significant criticism regarding its customer service and shipping practices, with numerous customers expressing dissatisfaction over exorbitant shipping fees, poor item descriptions, and inadequate packing leading to damaged goods. Many reviews highlight a perceived shift from a community-focused mission to a profit-driven approach, resulting in a loss of customer trust. While some long-time customers appreciate the variety of items available, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration with the lack of transparency, responsiveness, and support. This feedback suggests a pressing need for the company to reassess its customer service policies and shipping practices to enhance overall satisfaction.

I've had 3 items in the last few months not delivered. FedEx did not deliver to my address but ShopGoodwill states it doesn't matter to them since FedEx said they did.
Shipping for a 2.73 lb pool stick is $75.96. I contacted them and was answered by that is the correct cost.

I had never created an account before last week and thought I had stumbled across an awesome way to save money on Legos. I spent time searching through the items up for bid and lost a few auctions. After a few days I get an error message when I try to log in that says to contact support@. I go ahead and do that just to get a copy and paste message later about how my account was "inactivated" due to nonpayment of wins using previous accounts. I've never had another account! Wanting to get my account back I wrote back a lengthy message on the reasons I think they could've made the error and why those reasons would be incorrect. No response.
I get the feeling that whatever problem they have with their system that causes this issue (since I'm reading others have dealt with this, too), they don't care to fix it and they definitely don't want to talk about their mistakes and try to make things right.
I've had this happen 2x now! I thought I'd give them another shot! My mistake. They ship the products but if you don't get the products they won't refund and you're just SOL! So NEVER again! I have deleted the app. I can't recoup the money I've spent. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!
FedEx and Goodwill are the worst $#*!ing companies. One doesn't know how to pack an item for shipping and the other apparently delivers your package by dribbling it like a basketball across the country.
Goodwill by name but not by nature. Apart from the quite astronomical shipping and handling fees charged by many of the selling locations and the often very poor handling of fragile items (I have had 7 pairs of silver earrings shipped together in a paper bag so they arrived damaged), the customer service I have received from *******@shopgoodwill.com has been largely inadequate and frequently unresponsive. I have had multiple emails go unanswered and incomplete responses to issues raised when I do get a response. Individual selling locations vary in their customer service response, some are better than others. One of my biggest bugbears is the horrendous selling platform that doesn't always combine shipping on multiple purchases, and Goodwill's policy of banning buyers from bidding if they have 3 outstanding unpaid items. Because the shipping is so high and I am a reseller, I always try to win a few items from the same location so as to spread the cost across my purchases. Very occasionally I have missed a deadline, but considering my overall spend with shopgoodwill.com over a long period of time, you'd think they could overlook the occasional slip up. Also on occasion that failure to pay on time has been because the selling location took so long to respond to my request to adjust shipping on multiple purchases that the payment deadline timed out. It should not take 5 days or more to respond to customers, especially when the selling location's policy is that they will not refund you on shipping if you pay before they adjust it! I just had a very sub-par experience with the Easter Seals MN location where this happened and they refused to cancel my entire order, even though they had relisted one of the items I won. They don't give a hoot about customers, and they don't give two hoots how supportive a customer has been in the past. Do yourself a favour and shop with a charity who is more deserving.
I purchased what was labeled a Lionel right turn switch for model trains. The photographer piled up a few pieces of track in a way that I couldn't verify either way if the switch was there. It turns out that there were only a few pieces of rusted track, and no switch. The track in it's current shape was worth about 25 cents. I emailed Goodwill, and they basically offered me nothing, and used the "it's a charity" line. I didn't ask for a refund, and let it go.
It happened again with a supposed model locomotive. I rarely buy anything from them anymore because of those incidents. It was pretty obvious that the person(s) who put together the auctions was hiding the fact that the items were not as described. I consider it to be poor business, and they have lost a considerable amount of mine. I spend quite a bit on model trains.
One other issue: most stores have reasonable shipping, but there are a few in Oregon and California that jack the shipping up so high that the items are no longer even close to a decent deal. These items usually only command one or two bids, and sell for much less than they should, all because of inflated shipping rates.
The item price for a winning bid is reasonable until you get into shipping and handling.
Example I win a bid on an item for $10.99 after shipping and handling fees my item cost me over $25.00. This is ridiculous considering my item didn't even weigh that much.
I have bought 5 items from Goodwill online. Four of them stated they turn on but didn't know if they worked. All 5 didn't turn on none of them worked. The last item was a VCR for $10 when I saw the $15 shipping charge, I contacted the auction by email and asked the person if I could just pay for the VCR and donate it back to Goodwill they said yes. Every time I tried to enter an auction it stated in red letters, I owe for the VCR that I paid for and that I would be kicked out of future auctions if I didn't pay. I then paid the extra $21 they shipped me the VCR that stated it would turn on and of course it didn't turn on. I don't believe anything from Goodwill works. DON'T BUY FROM Goodwill.com! If the volunteers and paid labor are too lazy to plug in the product then they should get another job.
Was the high bidder in a bag of jewelry- paid 45.00 as soon as I won it - seller goodwill industries arkansas won't answer phone calls and are giving me the run around
Said it were it would ship today -has not
This company starts their bids low and then hits you with tax, handling costs and extremely expensive shipping. Dont be fooled. Most of the stuff that is sent I'd garbage and they refuse to accept returns.
Illegal activity is going on here and should be investigated by federal agents. They take freely donated goods up price them to retail value, add on shipping and handling charges all in the name of what they call Goodwill. But what people do not know that they employ disabled people and they pay them less than minimal wage while they pocket the interest. They treat their workers like garbage less than garbage they abuse them, so what they're doing is not charity they're basically funding their own labor. And making it look like they're doing someone a favor or helping. They are not. They are not housing these workers for free they're not feeding them for free they are employing them. And that is not a charitable practice that is labor. When you go on their website what they do is they do not combine handling costs so if you are buying three different items big or small and they're putting it in one box, they will ask you to pay triple for handling charges which is downright illegal. It would be like paying triple for shipping and that is how they rip a customer off. Do not donate here and do not buy from them do not fund their fraudulent affairs. It won't be long until they all get arrested for the $#*! they do to the people. Moreover they take absolutely no accountability for their fraudulent policy, they blame the customer and threaten.
Their shipping charges are outrageous. $11 to ship a 5-ounce package? I saw the shipping fees prior to bidding there were ZERO handling fees, but I also saw that they would use FEDEX to ship the item.
Since, I really wanted the bracelet I placed my bid anyway. When the item was shipped, I saw that they used USPS FIRST CLASS shipping coming from PA to NY and it was shipped in a used padded envelop! Of course, I emailed them and got no response.
I have no idea what kind of charity organization goodwill is as I have never seen or heard about them giving anything away free of charge. People donate and they sell the items at high cost plus extra high shipping.
Just make sure whatever you get from that site is something you really want and check the shipping charges prior to bidding.
You can create a free account with any email, and bid away. You can jack the bid up, just like they do. All they do is kick you off site. No big deal just create another account. It's fun to make these Ebay buyers who then relist on ebay Pay. Bid up the Grateful dead stuff, clothes, cds, records. There all ebayers who get their stuff there and try to make others pay more for it.
Goodwill online is a scam. Sell overpriced items. Will state the item is in good condition but actually is nothing but trash. Oh and they have a zero return policy. Will never order online again and will share with others that this is nothing but a way to sell items that should be trashed for over inflated prices!
The reason why ShopGoodwill has no returns is because most of it is CRAP! The shipping is OUTRAGEOUS! Something that weight a few pounds is calculated at 30-50LBS! I'm the first one to support a charity - but you can only get ripped off so many times before you call it quits. NO ONE will get back to you is you use the "contact Seller" tab to ask questions. I WISH that I would have found this site BEFORE I purchased from them - especially anything that is electric. Buying knick knacks and things like that is pretty safe but CHECK THE SHIPPING BEFORE YOU BID- because all sales are final with NO REFUNDS even when something is broken. I'm OUTRAGED! The item I purchased weighs 5lbs and I got charges almost $35 shipping! What a ripoff!
I purchased lots of barbies and 80% of the barbies where garbage. Goodwill doesn't describe anything in detail. I will never buy anything at Goodwill. They ripped people off and they know it.
I have purchased a few Pandora bracelets online. I have just received two items and they turned up to be fakes. I will caution anyone using this site to avoid it at all cost as you are likely to not be satisfied with your purchase.
Waste of time. Shipping is too much more than the item itself. Over priced per usual now. Won't be back.
Watch out for expensive shipping. Most stores overcharge on that. Possible shill bidders. Poor descriptions and photos.
I won a large pair of fairly expensive speakers, paid and scheduled a pickup. I arrived this morning, and only 1 of my 2 items are there... the expensive ones being the ones missing. I was told they couldn't find them anywhere in the facility. That there must have been a shipping mixup. What? There was no shipping! Common sense may lead one to think that someone is taking advantage from the inside. Yes, I will be refunded... but there was no communication. No notice. On another note, I won another piece of equipment from another state, and it was shipped with no packaging at all. The item was a perfect condition CD player. Again, really? It of course did not work when it arrived. I asked for a refund, they said they refunded, but I haven't seen the money in my account. Insanely terrible customer service under the excuse that "we're Goodwill, so it's good enough". Please. I've seen you land $1000+ for a single vintage receiver, that you received for FREE. Hire some competent people to oversee operations.
Answer: It did not get lost they did not get the price they wanted for the said item so it's lost they will wait for a while and realist it under a different item number and raise the shipping price and bid price with the auto bods so they can get a higher price for the item
Answer: Well look at the salary of their CEO vs. The salary of the Salvation Army's CEO. That will tell you what kind of "non-profit" it is.
Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
